@b3rs3rk Sorry was occupied like anything; Just came by to say a huge thank you! My Nano shows the temp (gpu die temp?) as well.
On a side note I noticed this in unraid logs being logged around every 10 minutes (since 1st release for amd gpu support):
Let me know if you need further help.
And it works!
Thanks a lot @b3rs3rk!
I updated the plugin >> plugin settings did show the unit/device id >> I swapped back to “change me” , saved and then back to “AMD” >> BaaM! Works out of the box.
**Feature Request:**
GPU Core and VMem Junction Temperature
I think the temp sensor module (NCT6775) does pull up these figures.
Outputs:
which: no nvidia-smi in (.:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin)
which: no intel_gpu_top in (.:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin)
array(0) {
}
Thanks @b3rs3rk for your contribution. Sorry to copy/past my comment but I feel the right place is here in this support thread :}
- Can you recommend me the correct kernel module to enable (I know the radeontop plugin enables the amdgpu module) for my AMD Sapphire (reference design) R9 Nano GPU?
- Should it be the “radeon” kernel module?
Would it be a problem if I had manually enabled radeon kernel module via the officially recommended way (boot script - which is what I have already done but haven’t tried out my GPU since I setup my unraid instance) and then also install the radeontop & gpu stats plugin?
**Note 1:**
I did the above and the stats plugin shows N/A for all fields. Also I did select vendor in gpu stats plugin settings but unit ID list is blank.
radeontop did report correct VMem (didn’t check other stats - sorry mobile terminal isn’t that nice).
**Note 2:**
I have since then removed my modprobe.d directory and the radeon kernel conf file. Rebooted unRAID. Still the same as reported above.
Let me know what I can do to help fix it.
Thanks again! (You’re our last hope for those chugging along on a radeon/AMD GPU)
Thanks @John_M !
Yep, and indeed it was ich777’s post that sparked my interest back into unraid; while 24hrs were spent on ebay’s bidding war for a decently priced nVidia GPU (for which there is absolutely none unless one goes lowfi).
I’ll look into the gpu config/containers thingy over the weekend i.e. once I finish the build.
Cheers!
Thanks a lot for the update.
Which module should I enable for my AMD R9 Nano (Fiji Arch.) ?
Super eager to have both the Docker & simple passthrough to VM support.
Hey there!
It’s been almost 6months since I first had the idea to have an unRAID Instance.
Finally I can kickoff things with this hardware:
i7 4790K
16GB DDR3 1866Mhz. Dual-channel Kit (8x2)
AMD R9 Nano (Sapphire/based on R9 Nano Reference)
Iron Wolf NAS 8TB CMR SATA HDDs x2
SanDisk 500GB SATA SSD
I know the GPU choice isn’t really what is recommended in-here but sometimes you just have to make/do.
Please tell me if my expectation (s) for this GPU:
- Docker support? (KoDi/Anything similar to plex? Plex docs says it doesn’t)
- Next Cloud App support for image/video transcoding? (Again probably not via docker?)
- that infamous AMD GPU reset bug (well...device detach script / kernel patching FTW?)
- what really can I use this GPU for then? (apart from a win 10 VM )
are somewhat worth it? 😕
Happy to be here!
