  1. Yes I will change some of the security access, fact is it is really strange to get recurring infections. All my computers are mac, the only windows machine is the Wm in unraid, which I keep all the time shut down, I do not game online, and the qbittorent I use goes through a reverse proxy. plus my router is a custom made openwrt with recent patches etc. I somehow believe my Ip (that is a dynamic Ip with duckdns) has been registered after the first attack, and they keep on trying knocking on the exposed doors when I download something. by the way I use plex chmod script, hdd cache enabler script and the specific no ransom script, which actually locks every data preventing from being modified. And it works, because after this attack, in the folders where i have the movies I still have the original files together with a dummy file that should have replaced the original but…couldn’t so do you reasonably think I can keep the usb untouched and just format and new config?
  2. I do not know the name, It looks like it did not encrypt the usb flash drive (which I keep on secure private), all shares affected, I’m using samba, I want to clean up everything but I would like to keep the usb key intact, do you think it is safe at this point to just wipe the array docker wm etc? homeserver-diagnostics-20230619-1657.zip
  3. thanks for you reply, interesting point. I have plex, swag, double commander, duckdns and qbittorrent which is downloading to a separate Hd unassigned. the one I would think about could be Qbittorrent. other dockers are always shut off. going back to the question, should I erase everything (usb with os too) or can I just wipe off the Hdd and start a new config?
  4. Hello all.. so I've been hit from a ransomware, It happened before, a year ago, I cleaned all the mess but I did not wipe off the Hard drives. Now happened again. all files locked again, the only machine affected is my Unraid server, I have multiple Mac connected and all look to be fine, I'm not mounting shares at the time. I think the ransomware is somehow resident in the server, because it ran autonomosly with Wm stopped and computer shut down. I have Swag installed, duckdns to resolve my IP address an use it mainly as plex server for my dvd collection. I also have a Qbittorren Docker connecting trough the reverse proxy and downloading to an unassigned disk. So, to make it simple, I want to wipe everyting off and start new, should I wipe off also the usb OS drive?, as far as I Understand the OS is installed fresh in the RAM at every boot, thus I would not need to wipe off the usb and reinstall/ copying the licence free file. I would like to stay on the safe side to avoid that happening again.
  5. Hello everyone, I think this topic was already discussed, so sorry for repetition. My server has a working 10gb network with a mellanox cx3 which does not wake up on lan. the server starts up right if 1gb nic is connected. Problem is, since I have the 10gb on the same subnet as the 1gb nic they are in the same ip address line, the connection speed gets negotiated through the 1gb network and not the 10gb network, if 1gb cable is connected. is there a way to keep the 1gb nic connected without ip just for wake on lan pourposes? thanks a lot for your thoughts
  6. Hello I tried in legacy but it does not find the internal Usb, so no Boot. I don’t get why the server reboots as soon as i hit start on the pfsense Vm. Kernel Panic? I don’t find any clue in the diagnostics
  7. thanks for the infos, i just upgraded to 2.72 2019 rom bios. No changes as you said. do you think it is an hardware related issue to the nic? I never passedthrough hardware but I would like to get a radeon rx560 to run a Mac Vm, and this problem has stopped me. I'll try to use le legacy mode, will that affect my Unraid setup?
  8. Hello, i tried using virtual adapter, without passtrough and the pfsense Vm booted up but then hangs since it finds no nic cards, just to see if the installer was valid. I’m booting in uefi mode. i found a rom firmware p92-2.72. From 2019, my bios is from 2015, might it be the rmrr issue was addressed? thanks in advance
  9. Good morning everyone and thanks for taking a look at this complete diagnostics and new syslog homeserver-diagnostics-20211209-0905.zip homeserver-syslog-20211209-0804.zip
  10. Thanks sir for your reply, I’m not using the onboard raid, I removed the board and connected directly to the motherboard, I’m also using an Lsi pcie card. I patched the image following the aforementioned instructions and seems active, I will post a new syslog
  11. Hello all, I’m coming back on the hardware passthrough problem since I’m having a wierd issue. I’m running unraid pro 6.9.2 on an Hp Ml350 with 16disks installed. Bios P92 (2015) out of warranty and not upgradeable anymore. 10Gbe mellanox card as the only ethernet connction in use. Two Vm are up and running reasonably stable. I have the integrated quad nic not in use at the moment, the four nic are located in the same IOMMU group and are bonded to vfio at startup. I can’t see them in the unraid dashboard. so I tried to set up a Pfsense Vm to play with. The machine did not want to passthrough the nic card giving the “inelegible hardware error..” which is related to the rmrr issue in Hp server. I then pathed the image and added ‘intel_iommu=relax_rmrr vfio_iommu_type1.allow_unsafe_interrupts=1” to the flash. Grep command says rmrr are relaxable, so I assumed the patch worked. when I set up the Pfsense vm I check the broadcom cards (NetXtreme BCM5719) to pass through, I removed the virtual network adapter. As soon as I start the Vm to begin with installation the whole system hangs, crashes and reboots with parity check and the VM tab in dashboard not enabled. If don’t passthrough the nic card, just virtual nic adapter, the pfsense install starts normally without issue. Any help would be welcome, I’m posting my log file and some screen shots thanks in advance homeserver-syslog-20211208-0857.zip
  12. Hallo again, I changed computer and moved to a M1 macbook, using Big Sur. and the hanging of the files has started again, i changed the config on the server side before in smb confing, and that was fine, should I change also something on the Mac, I tried to change the strict sync parameters but it does not change anything in Big Sur
  13. Hallo, any hints? If I run a speed test on the browers in ubuntu vm I get circa 700Mbits/sec ( I have a 1Gbit connection) so the virtualization of the ethernet should be ok. what do you think? thanks in advance
  14. Hello all I'm playing with Vm and set up a Vm ubuntu mate just to run Amule. I set up a 500gb unassigned disk and it works, amule works too. Now when I try to move the files to the array, I'm connecting to the array mounting the folder share where I want to copy to. The speed I get are very slow (10-20MB/s) no matter if I write to cached share or normal non cached share. (speed test through the browser tells 600Mbits/s). If I access an external nas from unraid server on 1Gb network I can transfer, using double commaner, at circa 90MB/s. how can I improve that? Thanks in advance
  15. thanks Sir for your reply, I can connect without issues to shares using smb, but I have no right to write to share using Amule. I can obviously write and read from shares with no issues in Fedora itself and can copy files no problem
  16. Hello all, I set up a light Fedora VM just to run Amule in it as it looks like no docker is avaible for it. i gave a vdisk of 30G for the Vm I set up amule just fine and it works, but since the vdisk is just 30 gigs, it fills up. my intention was to run amule in fedora vm and let it download directly to the array or tho cache disk. i mapped in the Vm the disk share but it keep telling i do not have permission to write to the disk. i chmod the directories under fedora with no luck. is there a way to let the Amule write directly to the array?
  17. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, I changed settings as showed in the guide and other posts here in the forum, now it works without hanging. next..Ram upgrade
  18. Hello all, I started to talk about this issue in another topic, but I think it needs a space on its own. my system is an Hp server xeon 2630v3 32gig ddr4 11 disks with dual parity and ssd cache pool with two sata ssd in raid 1, dirty ram cache ratio 20,60. I just configured a 10gbe network with some issues, lastly writing to Ram cache was slower as expected. Thanks to the forum and some digging I found out having this SHFS issue, which is bypassed by writing to cache disk directly. During this long troubleshooting I found out that while writing a 10gb file to the server cache enabled share, it first went to the ram taking 10 seconds (circa 1GB/s) and than flushed to the ssd disk in 20 seconds (circa 500MB/s), for a total 30seconds. The speed are normal for the hardware, but to my understanding it should fill up the ram, ending the file transfer, and than flushing to cache in background, thus allowing for other tasks or transfer to be done. What I observe is that the file transfer window stays stucked at the end until the whole file is flushed to the cache pool, thus making the file transfer globally Slower. is this an Osx (Mojave 10.14) related issue or should I tune something to “disengage” the file transfer? It kills the whole purpose of ram caching.
  19. Ok but I have 32 gigs, at leat 12 free for caching, it happens also with smaller files (5GB or so). I will open another topic on this, thanks all
  20. Hello all, it is indeed strange and it has to do with SHFS process as others reported, I mounted the cache as a share and finally got over 1GB/s writing to Ram. I digged in the forum and it looks like to be a know issue, I tried to follow and enable smb multichannel, but I seem to get similar results in transfer speed but more Cpu occupation and load. so writing to a cache enabled share in my case, tops out at 450MB/s, while writing directly to the cache ssd by exposing the disks saturates 10gbe at more than 1GB/s. That’s a lot. More than double in my case. i wished this feature/issue with SHFS could have been made clearer, it would have spared me a bit of time, do you think this behaviour is affecting every configuration or just some configs are affected? will it be addressed? Now I have an Odd situation.. I ruled out the network, I can get 10gbe speed across my workstation and server, transferring file to the cache is fast…but the file transfer window in my Mac computer hangs until the whole file is back written to the ssd, at slower speed of course, thus making this whole ram acceleration magic pointless. Is it normal to wait for the ram to be cleared to the ssd to move another file? It should ingest the file in the ram and then transferring it to the cache in background leaving resources free to move on with the work. What I observe is that, for example, it takes 10seconds to transfer a 10GB mkv to Ram and than stays stucked for other 20second to transfer it to ssd drive at 500 Mb, thus resulting in 30sec total. It does not seem normal..
  21. Thanks a lot. ok so no eDonkey Client on Unraid right?
  22. well than I'm lost, I have a macbook pro with nvme ssd (1800Mb/s read throughput) on one end and the server Gen9 Hp xeon as stated above. Bandwidth between Nics should be Ok as Iperf3 shows, than It should be some sort of software issue, or a SMB tweak. When I put 9000 MTU in the nics the Iperf3 went from 4.4Gbit to 9.8Gigabit. Might it be I have to configure SMB to take advantage of the 10Gbe? Thanks in advance for your time
  23. Thanks Sir, I tried as you said, no changes, I tried to make a peer to peer connection to bypass the switch and connecting directly the computer and server, no changes. i send two screenshots where you can see the transfer rate during file transfer and during iperf3 test, which indeed shows 1Gb/s might it be my Ram is somehow limited (32gb single dimm ddr4 1866Mhz)?
  24. Hello, any news on Amule docker image, is it still up? I can’t find it anymore Thanks a lot
