Solutions

  1. kilo's post in Array disk error - how to swap out? was marked as the answer   
    All good. Took the faulty disk out and shipped it to Scan who swapped it out no worries.
    Server & data were fine whilst disk was ‘missing’.
    Precleaned new disk, all good
    Added to array, in the same slot as the original disk - array rebuilt.
    Good to go
     
    Props again to Scan (in the UK) - great support as usual!
