  1. I have removed the drive and connected it to a Windows PC - it powers up, partitions are still there, and I can access the data using RFSTool - so basically the drive seems fine. However it refuses to work in unRAID. It powers up and is detected but the array config page says it is disabled. The temperature is also not displayed. There is no option to rebuilt data to the drive, so essentially it now seems to be useless in unRAID. Edit: Followed the procedure at http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php/Troubleshooting#Re-enable_the_drive Now the data is being rebuilt. But this seems silly, since the data was still OK!
  2. What I am about to describe might be purely a coincidence, but it does not feel like it. I ran HDSentinal on my 5.0.6 box and afterwards a disk showed as "disabled" in the devices list. Stopping and restarting the array did not fix it, nor did rebooting. Here is the complete output from running HDSentinal - you can see that it could not read temp data from /dev/hdh the first time, and the second time it failed to read any data at all: root@BIGBOX:/mnt/cache/sentintel# ./HDSentinel Hard Disk Sentinel for LINUX console 0.08 (c) 2008-2011 [email protected] Start with -r [reportfile] to save data to report, -h for help Examining hard disk configuration ... 3. I have ordered two of the 3-drive mounting cage/brackets pictured in the original post from http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Newer+Technology/G5MOUNT3HD/ I'm hoping these will let me fit 6 drives in total in the main chamber instead of 4. I'll then need two more free SATA ports and will have to swap the mobo - the current one only has 4. I can then squeeze an extra two drives in using the OWC Multimount, placed in the second chamber secured by Velcro (which came with the case, currently occupied by an SSD but this can be moved into one of two 2.5inch drive bays) - but again I'll need an extra 2 SATA ports. The plan is to get a mobo that also has a mPCIe slot so I can put in a card such as this: http://www.hwtools.net/Adapter/PM362.html If all goes well this will take the Node 804 up to 15 data drives + parity + cache.
  4. The underside of the case has holes for screwing directly into the bottom of the drives
  5. Hi all, I am trying to cram as many drives as possible into a Node 804. It has 8 hard drive bays plus room for two in the main chamber. I have fit 4 in the main chamber using OWC Multimounts, giving 11 data drives plus parity and a SSD for cache connected via the eSATA port on the motherboard. There is room for at least one more drive above each pair in the main chamber (which would take it to 13 data drives) but I don't know how to mount them securely. An adapter such as this would probably do the job but it looks a bit flimsy, and is half way around the world from me.. Any idea on alternatives for this? Case: Fractal Design Node 804 Mobo: ASRock fm2a75m-itx CPU: AMD A6-5600 Controller: Supermicro AOC-SAS2LP-MV8
  6. Hello, Is it possible to install a slightly older version of PMS using this? I use PleXBMC on Kodi which does not work properly with the most recent versions. I would like to install 0.9.11.7.803 - can I perhaps modify the script somehow to achieve this? Thanks
  7. UNRAID 5.0.6 I can successfully sleep the server, and it wakes when sending a magic packet, but does not fully come back. The network interface is up and responds to pings, but that is all. Web interface does not load, samba does not load, cannot telnet to the box.. Any ideas?
  8. This is dumb. When I have the web interface open during parity sync, it is slow at ~20MB/sec But if I close the tab and let it run without watching, it is more like ~100MB/sec Problem solved I guess. UNRAID doesn't like to be watched while it does its stuff.
  9. I have swapped out a SATA cable on the port that the syslog indicated was having issues.. the errors are no longer present.. but the slow parity sync remains.. New syslog: https://www.dropbox.com/s/tzxvinxmwnlpyl0/syslog2.txt?dl=0
  10. I suppose I misread it as 5 gbit. So I guess that isn't the cause of the sluggish sync speeds...
  11. Thanks. Syslog too large to post here, so dropbox: https://www.dropbox.com/s/kgz76cyone7bg7o/syslog.txt?dl=0 Any help appreciated.
  12. Hello, I have an Supermicro AOC-SAS2LP-MV8 hooked up to 8 SATA drives. Whilst booting, the card displays that it is only linked at 5gbps. It is in a PCI-e 2.0 16x slot on a ASRock FM2A75M-ITX. I have UNRAID 5.0.6 running and parity sync with these 8 drives plus another 4 hooked up to motherboard SATA ports is incredibly slow - around 20MB/sec. What am I missing here - can anyone with this card confirm the speed it displays it is linked at, or suggest how to fix? Thanks
  13. I am unable to install the PMS plugin on 5.0.6: root@hip:/boot/config/plugins# installplg /boot/config/plugins/Plexmediaserver.plg installing plugin: Plexmediaserver file /tmp/Plexmediaserver-script: successfully wrote INLINE file contents /bin/bash /tmp/Plexmediaserver-script ... 14. Thanks for the detailed information. Apart from the initial configuration and parity check/sync, would a disk write typically require reading all of the drives to calculate the new parity information? My intended use is as a media server, with writes to a single disk at a time - would this avoid the performance hit you describe?
  15. Hi, Does unraid support an external drive enclosure such as Silverstone SST-TS431U which connects to a PC via eSATA port multiplier? Will unraid see all 4 drives and be able to create an array? Thanks
  16. Unfortunately I can't test that as after formatting the disk again and copying contents back to it, it started showing up properly in unMENU and lets me mount it. Now I'm having trouble with the share button. No new shares appear after clicking it. Telnetting to the box shows that it has been mounted properly. Not sure how to debug the share? Nothing shows up in the system log.
  17. I'm sorry if this is a dumb question but I followed the instructions in the first post to install and it isn't working. The syslog says for each plugin "bad download, deleting" presumably because the network interface has not come up yet. How do I fix this?
  18. Hello, I am unable to mount a USB drive. It appears in the Disk Management screen but there are no buttons. I have tried it formatted as NTFS and FAT32 and neither will work. Screenshot:
