New ZFS Pool, Freezing Issue. iowait?
I'm going to tentatively say this issue is fixed. Not sure exactly what fixed it, as I both reseated and ziptied a 40mm Noctua fan onto the HBA, but I don't appear to be getting these errors any more, and I've just been scrubbing random videos as fast as I can and it seems to be working. Thank you!

The LSI card keeps resetting? Hmm... I guess I'll try to reseat the card. Could the cables be an issue too? I'll throw a fan in there too and report back. Thanks

@JorgeB here are my diagnostics. I took the diagnostics immediately after a hangup, which occurred at Jan 17, 08:50:07 until about 08:50:18 tower-diagnostics-20240117-0850.zip

New ZFS Pool, Freezing Issue. iowait?
I upgraded to 6.12.6 recently, and set up a raidz2 pool with 8x 2TB Crucial MX500 SSDs. The array and share work, but not without issues. I threw a bunch of videos on there, and sometimes I'm able to scrub through videos with ease, then all of a sudden between 1-3 cores on my dashboard will be pegged at 100%, and everything freezes for about 10-15 seconds. It seems random too, for example I can load up a 2hr \~10-20GB clip and scrub through with ease, then I'll load a much smaller sub 300MB clip and that causes things to freeze. It's not just when I'm scrubbing too. I can load a video and have it play normally, and all of a sudden everything freezes. I loaded up \`top\` in the terminal and it seems like \`wa\` (which I think is the disk io?) will between 10-20% when this happens... I've seen it go over 20% once. Is there anything I can do to help this? I've already enabled "Permit Exclusive Shares" as well as "Enable Disk Shares" from the global share settings. This helped with the speed of navigating the drive from macOS, as well as scrubbing performance, but I'm still seeing the freeze issues. I'm running an 8700K, 64GB RAM, and the 8 SSDs are connected to an LSI 9305 24i. I'm also connected via 10Gbe. When running \`iperf3\` from my mac to my unraid, I get around 4Gb/s. When running from unraid to my mac, I'm able to saturate the connection, so I'm not sure what's going on there. — Just wanted to add - I've been sitting watching a YouTube video, not touching anything on my shares, no background tasks running (at least that I'm aware of), but I can see the network I/O on unraid at a relatively constant 200-250kbps (200, spiking to 250 every 10 seconds or so). Then when I see one of the CPU cores get pegged at 100% on the dashboard, the outbound stops momentarily, then when the CPU goes back to normal, the network I/O keeps doing what it's doing. I should note that Docker and VMs have been turned off while I'm debugging, so that shouldn't be a factor.

VMs using more disk space than allocated
I'm having an issue that I've only recently noticed with my VMs since I've had to restore a Windows VM. I had an issue that caused me to restore my Windows gaming VM from a backup, however I've not been able to get up and running. I have a 1TB NVME disk, and I had my Windows VM set to use 900G. When I boot into the Windows VM, I have 125GB free of my 900GB total disk. The issue I'm having is that when download steam updates etc, anything really, even just using the system, the free disk space on my NVME drive keeps decreasing to the point that there is nothing left (literally a few kb) and then the VM crashes. If I reboot the VM, or even unraid itself, the disk space does not come back. I also have the drive set to have a free space of 25GB, and that isn't working. I've now just noticed that on a VM that I've not had to restore, the same thing is happening. I'm using 60G of my 500GB cache pool, however the available space keeps decreasing and I'm not doing anything else on the server. I'm not sure what to do here. Is this a bug? Have I set up my VMs incorrectly? I'm using unraid 6.10.3 right now. Please let me know if you need any other info from me to figure this out. Thanks in advance!

Network Interface Setup and Changing NICs
Man I feel dumb... Not really how it happened, but I pulled an ethernet cable from a working setup and plugged it into the 10GB NIC. Nothing was working, as above. I then tested the cable by putting it back into its old setup. Cable was confirmed as working... except it's broken! Or at least unreliable... I guess the way in which the wire was laying in the working setup allowed it to work, however when laid out for its new setup, there must be something that breaks it. I just switched the cable with a new one that I found in a drawer and everything is working now. I've been able to assign an automatic IP, and now I've changed that to a static IP. Does it make sense to have both NICs setup, using the 1GB as a fallback in case 10GB fails for whatever reason, or is it just not necessary?

Network Interface Setup and Changing NICs
There's probably no link right now because it's ported down? I will do these tests though. Can I use my Windows VM via unraid for testing, or would it need to be an OS that's running on bare metal, instead of VM?

Network Interface Setup and Changing NICs
I'm trying to change the NIC that I'm using in Unraid. My motherboard has multiple NICs, one of which is a 10GB ethernet port. It is recognized in the Network Settings page, however I can't get it to do anything... I have tried porting up the device, and trying to assign an automatic IP, and also setting a static IP. I've also tried changing the interface rules to set the new device as first place, I've tried bonding with my current 1GB connection, as well as bridging, and trying to turn all these off and just use the 10GB connection... Nothing works. I've now had to delete my network preferences and start fresh because the unraid instance was not accessible over the network. I'm attaching a screenshot of the network settings in its current state. As of right now, eth0 is my working 1GB connection, and eth2 is my not working 10GB connection. How should I move forward? I really want to get my 10GB connection working, as I've just bought some new SSDs and plan to make a fast ZFS array after I upgrade to 6.12.x (currently on 6.10.3).

LSI 9305-24i upgrade
I'm currently using a LSI 9211, which started my unraid journey. I'm now looking to do a mini overhaul of my storage and would like to purchase the LSI 9305-24i. Am I able to do a straight swap with this card? I don't want to lose my array. What I was thinking I'd have to do is: Stop the array and power down Unplug all drives and remove the LSI 9211 Plug in the 9305 and reconnect all drives Reboot and start the array Is it this simple, or am I missing something glaringly obvious? I know it would also be recommended to back up any other important files before doing this too. Thanks!

IOMMU Group Help - Trying to pass through GPU
Update: I have this working now. I had to install Windows via VNC, and then in order to get the vbios dump I referenced this support thread on Github - https://github.com/SpaceinvaderOne/Dump_GPU_vBIOS/issues/7 (the response from "nVitius" worked for me). After that, I could assign the GPU properly and boot using the passthrough, all I need to do is switch my monitor inputs every time I want to game, as they don't automatically switch over.

IOMMU Group Help - Trying to pass through GPU
I don't believe I'm getting a video output. After setting everything and starting the VM (and switching my monitor inputs), nothing happens. No boot/install screen.

IOMMU Group Help - Trying to pass through GPU
Excellent, thank you! It's now in a separate group, and I bound to vfio at boot and rebooted. Everything looks ok, and there are 2 green dots next to the GPU's VGA and Audio device in the IOMMU group. Now, when I go to create the vbios, I get the following: Script location: /tmp/user.scripts/tmpScripts/Dump vbios/script Note that closing this window will abort the execution of this script You have selected this device to dump the vbios from 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GP102 [GeForce GTX 1080 Ti] (rev a1) This does look like a valid GPU to me. Continuing ......... Checking if location to put vbios file exists Vbios folder already exists I will try and dump the vbios without disconnecting and reconnecting the GPU This normally only works if the GPU is NOT the Primary or the only GPU I will check the vbios at the end. If it seems wrong I will then retry after disconnecting the GPU Defining temp vm with gpu attached Domain dumpvbios defined from /tmp/dumpvbios.xml Starting the temp vm to allow dump Domain dumpvbios started Waiting for a few seconds ..... Stopping the temp vm Domain dumpvbios destroyed Removing the temp vm Domain dumpvbios has been undefined Okay dumping vbios file named gpu gtx1080ti.rom to the location /mnt/user/isos/vbios/ cat: rom: Input/output error Um.... somethings gone wrong and I couldn't dump the vbios for some reason Sometimes when this happens all we need to do to fix this is 'stub' or 'bind to the vfio' the gpu and reboot the server This can be done in Unraid 6.8.3 with the use of the vfio config plugin or if you are on Unraid 6.9 or above it can be done directly from the gui in Tools/System Devices .....So please do this and run the script again The only suggestion from the script is to bind to vfio at boot, which appears to already have been done. Do you have any suggestions as to what to try next? Thank you!

IOMMU Group Help - Trying to pass through GPU
Hello, I'm trying to dump the vbios of my GPU so that I can pass through to a Windows VM, but I'm having issues. It looks like my top 2 PCI slots, which are GPU and HBA respectively, are both in IOMMU group 1, and subsequently the checkboxes for the GPU are greyed out and I cannot select them to bind to vfio at boot. My motherboard is a Asrock z370 pro gaming i7, CPU is 8700k, GPU is 1080TI. Is there anything that I can do to solve this? I'm new to Unraid. If you need me to dump any logs, please let me know where I can do this and I'll be happy to provide!
