  1. Great! Thanks for this, IMO now perfect, ripping solution! As I said earlier, I don't have a dvd player attached to my server, so the only way I can rip my old dvd's is by serving the VIDEO_TS folders to Handbrake. I've got sooo much ripping to do now!
  2. Confirmed! Just in the Summary tab, it went from this: To this: I did a quick encode of a small chapter and it looks and sounds perfect now!
  3. Thanks, I've looked into this. I don't have a dvd-player in my server, so I can't really use the MakeMKV docker for this. I just copied the VIDEO-TS directory that is on the disc from another computer to the Handbrake input folder. Most dvd's I have just convert correctly, but some just end up with the artifacts due to encryption (I guess).
  4. Is the libdvdcss package included in this docker? I tried to convert some dvd's and some of them were encrypted so I've got strange video and audio artifacts in the encoded files.
  5. Great plugin! I've used it a lot now I moved my 7 year old 12bay tower to a 24 bay case and finally had some free slots available to preclear all my old drives that didn't fit in my old case anymore. So I've noticed some little things.... All the e-mail updates specify the device id (sdX), except the e-mail that is sent when a step fails. See example below: Event: PreclearSubject: FAIL! Zeroing the disk failed.Description: FAIL! Zeroing the disk failed.Importance: alertZeroing the disk failed - Aborted Another example: Event: PreclearSubject: FAIL! Post-Read verification failed.Description: FAIL! Post-Read verification failed.Importance: alertPost-Read verification failed - Aborted I would like to see which drive fails, especially when preclearing multiple drives at once. Another issue I had is with the drive sizes. The plugin displays a 1,5TB drive as a 2TB drive. See the attached screenshot of my main page and the preclear page.
  6. I experienced the same error in my syslog after a server reboot. It was driving me nuts. Then I found out that I had some browser tabs open on a different computer showing the unRAID main page and the preclear disk page from before the reboot. When I closed these tabs, the errors stopped appearing in my log.
  7. I really would like this feature. Or the ability to pause or stop the mover (after finishing the active filetransfer) so that it can continue at a later time.
  8. I replaced the very noisy fans of my 2 Chieftec SST-2131SAS 3-in-2 bays with Nexus 80mm Real Silent case fans. Cost about 5 euro's a piece, so very cheap and very very quiet!
  9. Almost all my drives came from external WD cases like these... Very easy to open, and the drives are standard EADS. (I only had the 1TB and 1.5TB versions. I guess the 2TB are EARS drives...
  10. I have these in my case: http://www.zalman.com/ENG/product/Product_Read.asp?idx=383 Very, very quiet, two of them came with my case... (http://www.zalman.com/ENG/product/Product_Read.asp?idx=367)
  11. The SAS-SATA cables are not that heavy, and the drive cages they're connected with are at the top of my case, so they don't generate downwards or sideways pressure to the card...
  12. I have the card installed without a bracket... The PCI-e port holds the card real tight...

  15. I use CrystalDiskMark for that...It's really designed for benchmarking built in harddrives, but if you map an unRAID share to a drive letter in Windows, you can use it for benchmarking your read and write speeds between your PC and unRAID server...
  16. You've got the wrong cables. As I also encountered with my Supermicro AOC-SASLP-MV8, I also got reverse breakout cables at first. You have: 3Ware CBL-SFF80870CR-05M You need: 3Ware CBL-SFF8087OCF-05M The last F & R stand for Forward or Reverse Here is some more info on the issue Here is the page of my build, describing the same problem you have...
  17. 1. There's no place in the case to hold extra drives other than the hotswap modules, so I have 2 unused SATA slots. 2. Maybe starting off directly with a rackmount server case like the Norco 4220 but with this build I really have no regrets yet. I want to build a big 20+ server in the future, but for now I'm really satisfied with my build... Btw, the initial parity build went well, but after a reboot the server ran a parity check and found about 30 sync errors. Did another parity check after that and there were 0 sync errors found. Is this something to worry about? I guess it's not so smart to give the reboot command via telnet if the array isn't stopped first...
  18. Good news, it were the cables: Now that I got the correct forward breakout cables, my disks on the Supermicro AOC-SASLP-MV8 card are recognized and can be used in the array... Last night I precleared a 2TB disk and another 1TB disk I had laying around. I assigned the 2TB disk as my parity disk, and the 1TB just to the array (have ~8.5TB now). Now I'm waiting for the parity to be build and after that I can start with some basis cable management (I'm really bad at that) in the case and start replacing the stock fans of my hotswap bays...
  19. Tomorrow my forward SAS breakout cables will be delivered... Hope that will do the trick.... Also ordered some Nexus 80mm Real Silent case fans, to replace the stock fans on the Chieftec SST-2131SAS modules. You wouldn't believe how much noise the stock fans make... It's like living in a serverpark. So i read somewere the fan is easy to replace them with the quiet Nexus fans and because my server is placed in the livingroom, it's necessary. Here are some pictures of someone replacing the stock fan on some Chieftec SST-2131SAS modules... And here are the pics of his NAS build (not running unRAID though) with four Chieftec SST-2131SAS modules... Looks pretty cool!
  20. I also have the Sempron 140 with the stock CPU fan, but I can't even hear it when the system is running. Even with my case opened the fan is hardly noticeable. In another system I have an AMD Athlon X2 CPU with a stock cooler, and that one is really loud and noticeable even when the case is closed. So there's definitely a difference in CPU coolers AMD uses... But I'm just glad my server is really quiet...
  21. I guess the webshop delivered the wrong cables to me, Because I specifically ordered the 3Ware cables and got the Molex cables Now I found another webshop here in the Netherlands which sells the forward CBL-SFF8087OCF-05M cable for even less (15 euro's instead of the 21 euro I paid) so I just cut my losses and order those. The reverse cables I could sell again or just keep for future use...
  22. I can't detect a F of a R anywhere. The only serial I can find is: 79576-3006 Which I googled and found this PDF describing the cable... I ordered the 3ware Multilane Serial ATA / SAS cable but the cables I got are from Molex.
  23. I really don't know... The only information I have on the cables are: * 3ware Multilane Serial ATA / SAS cable - 60 cm * Type * Serial ATA / SAS cable * SAS lanes * 4-lanes * Length * 60 cm * Connector(s) * 1 x 36 pin 4i Mini MultiLane SAS (SFF-8087) * 4 x 7-pens seriële ATA In the topic you mentioned I read SFF-8470 for the SAS connection. Guess my cables aren't correct...?
