Hello,
As you can expect with my posts count, I'm new here. And from France, so expect some misspelling and other awkward sentence...
Roughly 35 days in and for now, I regret nothing and learned a lot.
Here is my build (and I will calculate the bills alongside).
Case : Fractal design Node 604 (40€), a little beaten as the previous owner tryed to fit a µATX in.
Processor : Intel i3-8100t (48.80€), used from ebay.
Motherboard : ECS H310CH5-M2 (52.90€), the only big part that's new. (4 sata, 1Pci-e 16x, 1PCI-e 1x).
Power Supply : a scavanged Silverstone modular PSU (20€)
RAM : 16Gb 2*Kingston KHX2133C14D4/8G (from my parts bin)
Storage : 6*Seagate ST2000DM006 bought new some years ago between 25 and 35€ each on leboncoin.
Cache : 2*128Gb sata drives in pool (appdata) from the parts bin and 1 Intel 512Gb nvme from the bin (but 59€ in 2019) too but with a PCI-e 1x adapter (7.96€ from amazon)
HBA : LSI SAS2008 in IT mode because 6+2 drives is more then the 4 sata of the motherboard... Also from the parts bin.
scews : 2*20 scews for the HDD, you know, the one that go through the rubber dampener (5.29€ from aliexpress).
Fan : 1*140mm Noctua NF-P14s as the original one had a broken blade that I didn't saw when I brough the case... (15.90€ from amazon), and a Be Quiet Pure Wings 2 (10.70€) for the front, coupled with a Be Quiet Shadow Wings 2 salvaged from an old project.
USB : a Samsung Barplus (16.18€) recommanded by SpaceInvader One with a internal USB to USB2 adapter for 3.50€ because what does not stick out cannot be wrecked.
So in total : 456.73€ for a 8Tb+512Gb+128Gb unraid server.
It peak at 140w at lauch, 80w with all disk spinning and 31 to 29w in idle.
I'm trying to optimize the consumption but I expect the LSI to stop me in going lower then C3.
I will probably refactor the server with more optimized component next year (I already sourced a Corsair RM550X for 40€).
