  2. It all started two years ago when I bought an old PC to use as my media server to store movies and media from my devices. I wanted to have remote access to my Unraid server and media. I remember trying to set up WireGuard, WOL, and other things, and it worked! But only for a couple of days, then it stopped working, and I got too frustrated to try again. Now, I've decided to give it another shot and discovered that Unraid has built-in support for Tailscale. I followed the Uncast show videos to set up Tailscale and Jellyfin, and now I can access Jellyfin via Tailscale (directly in the Docker container). I managed to access it remotely, but the issue now is that I need full control of the server so I can power it on and off, upload new files, and so on. I was following the YouTube guide "Mastering Tailscale installation and configuration on Unraid 7," but when I go into settings and click on Tailscale, I don't have the same interface that he shows at 7:10 in the video. Since I have very little experience with this, I'm stuck now and need help. It's been two days of trying, and I just can't get it to work. Can someone help me please? :')
  3. Quick boot is already disabled, i have tried booting with nothing plugged in expect for the rams and it kept making 2 beeps, then i tried swapping the cmos battery, changing USB port for the UnRaid USB bootable device and reseating every cable, now it does only one beep but it boots succesfully manually and by WOL, i could not find anywhere what does 1 short beep mean but at least i think and i hope it works now.
  4. i get the Lenovo logo, the Amrican Megatrends screen and then the blank screen. The computer is a Lenovo Thinkcentere M93 and i was wrong about the beeps, it makes 2 short beeps, on the Lenovo websites it says "Review the POST error on the screen and take the appropriate action based on the POST error code." but i don't get any error code.
  5. Most of the times I turn my server on it makes some beeps (if I remember correctly 3 long beeps, i have already tried the memtest and everything was okay) and a blank screen shows up, the server would not boot and requires to be rebooted from the power button, sometimes it just boots up without any problem to the menu, same thing if powered up by WOL, the USB drive with the OS was previously plugged in a USB 3.0 port on the back of the computer, i tried swapping port to a USB 2.0 but nothing changed, any ideas on how can I solve this? ( I have also tried leaving as boot option only the USB drive and at first it seemed to work but then would go back to the same problem)
  6. Sorry for the stupid question, why would i use another vpn provider if WireGuard is free? i'm surely missing something, i've done some researches but i'm still a bit confused,
  7. Wherease if i used the built-in WireGuard how would it work? (i mean containers would use the vpn automatically and what about the personal vpn?) i'll set-up the built in wireguard if it is convenient in this terms.
  8. Thank you for your answer, i'll probably use WoW this way as a momentary solution, probably as an upgrade i will buy a device like the one you suggested or a new router that allows me to install a vpn and utilize this way the WoL functionality more securely. Speaking about Easy WireGuard i have not understood yet if i need to deviate the traffic from the other containers to the Wireguard one or if it alredy works fine, moreover if i wanted to use it as a personal vpn would i have to do something different from just connecting my device to the vpn or it is all set?
  9. I'm very new to everything related to homeservers and security , I just created my first UnRaid server, I use it mainly as a media server and various data storage, for the moment I use the following containers: Krusader, Easy Wireguard, Plex and duckdns ; I recently followed a guide for Wol and WoW. I have several security concerns: DOUBT ABOUT EASY WIREGUARD I have installed and set-up Easy Wireguard and since I was able to access the UnRaid web GUI even from an external network it means that everything went fine, the only doubt is that I didn't have to touch any VPN settings from the UnRaid settings (I also tried but it doesn't even allow me to activate the toggle), perhaps because it is the simplified version of Wireguard?, and another doubt is: through Wireguard I can open a vpn tunnel between my devices outside the home network and my server in a secure way, does this allow me to secure the use of other dockers as well or do I have to link them to wireguard? DOUBT ABOUT "W.O.W." I followed a very detailed guide(not in english) on how to set up WoL and WoW for your devices, what doesn't convince me is if the procedure opens vulnerabilities to my server, since the guide is quite long I'll try to summarize it. I checked that my server's motherboard supports WoL via UnRaid terminal, I added a path forwarding rule (tcp/udp) on my router to my server, I downloaded on the device I want to use to remotely control the powering of the server an app/software that by inserting: open port number, mac, and ddns pointing to my ip actually, actually allows remote powering on. Also another doubt is: as wireguard is currently set up, it allows me to also use it as a personal vpn for the most common things (such as torrent, netflix, etc.) simply by connecting the device I want to the server via vpn? Excuse me for the inexperience and the confusing writing , obviously ask me for any details that may be useful, thank you all very much.

  11. Hi guys, this is my first time writing in this forum and trying to set-up my first NAS, i want to use it as an accessible storage from wherever I am and for (and from) whatever device i want, i would use it rarely for streaming content, i will probably use Plex or i don't know if there is something better for my needs. I'm going to use an old PC, i5 4690, 8gb of ram and a crappy power supply that I will replace as soon as I can, I'm not sure which raid to use and what combination of hard-disks or ssds, i was thinking of 2 2tb hdds in raid 1 or 3 500gb hdd in raid 5 in order to get more speed, i was even thinking about 2 1tb ssds in raid 1 or using an SSD as cache, what do you think is more suitable for my needs? I was even planning on using wake-on-lan but I don't know neither how to do it nor if it is possible. Please give me any suggestion you think is helpful, i really don't know a lot about Unraid or Nas, I'm pretty new to these things. Thank you all.
