  1. +1 I often peruse the good deals and for sale sections. Bought my m1015's from a user in the for sale section. As a uk person it would make it easier to see what's available here and it would be good for other non-us citizens too.
  2. Just made the transition to 5.0.4 on my xenserver box. thanks grumpy. *waiting for the 1st person to make a typo and put an extra 't' in your name, lol.
  3. On the link for 5.0.3 i get a page telling me i don't have permission to download the file.
  4. So it is, for some reason safari on my mac resolutely refused to load the page, kept coming back with server not responding. rebooted and it works.
  5. Has google code gone completely now ? If so will the files be hosted elsewhere ?
  6. I'm looking at this now as one possible configuration to go with, based on your suggestions. For the mobo http://www.servercase.co.uk/shop/components/motherboards/intel/supermicro-mbd-x10slm-f-b-mbd-x10slm-f-b/ CPU http://www.amazon.co.uk/Intel-E3-1245V3-Server-Processor-LGA1150/dp/B00D69PZWU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1381303471&sr=8-1&keywords=Intel+Xeon+E3-1245V3 Memory http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/mpartspecs.aspx?mtbpoid=AF6DBDEAA5CA7304 Along with 1 or possibly both of the ibm m1015 cards, and of course the case and PSU i mentioned in the first post. Comes in at a shade over £1030 (with what I paid for the IBM cards), plenty of money over to splurge on data drives and cables etc... Is this a good setup for plex transcoding and the other apps I plan on using ?
  7. I'm playing with various configurations until my isa (tax-free savings account) matures in the 1st of week of november, good while to find a good fit for bang vs buck.
  8. oops, lol. http://www.servercase.co.uk/shop/components/motherboards/intel/supermicro-x9srh-7f-mbd-x9srh-7f-o/
  9. Would this board be suitable for unraid, (it's a little pricey, but it has a bucketload of sas/sata ports that are 6gb/s so i can get some longevity out of hopefully). I've purchased two ibm m1015 to form the main basis for my array, and this board has following pci-e configuration 1x PCI-E 3.0 x16 slot 1x PCI-E 3.0 x8 (in x16) slot 1x PCI-E 2.0 x8 slot It is pricey but it does come within my initial £1500 budget.
  10. i'm prepared to offer you £75 for one of the ibm cards. if that's acceptable to you.
  11. i'm in the "considering options" phase of a new unraid build as i've outgrown my current build. This particular board looks very promising as it would mean me needing only one ibm m1015 card (or would the aoc card be a better option, if it's sourceable here in the uk) to give me 20 drives in a norco 4220 case. I'm a bit confused about the various cabling required though. this board says sas2.0 x8 ports. what cables would be needed to hook up to the backplanes of the norco ?
  12. I currently have a 32TB array using a hp n54l microserver and two esata enclosures and i'm looking to upgrade to something with more performance. I have been looking at a norco 4220 for the chassis and a corsair hx series psu, that's as far as i have got, I really need some help. I want to be able to transcode 1080p mkv's to 4 or 5 clients and run mysql, plex pms, couch potato, sabnzbd, sickbeard and headphones plugins. I'm not too concerned with virtual machines, but i'd like compatibility if possible, in case i change my mind at a later date. My budget is going to be £1500 (including the case and psu)
  13. if all you want to do is convert some iso's to mkv why not just copy the iso to a local computer, run makemkv there and then transfer the resulting mkv back to the array ?
  14. i've been trying to find a uk stockist for that rosewill rc218 card with no luck so far
  15. it's not a term that it's in the English dictionary per say either, but it's common usage in retail stores to mean electrical appliances, anything from toasters to tv's and computers etc... as evidenced here http://www.johnlewis.com/electricals/c500001
  16. Here in the uk, tesco are running an offer this week of if you spend more than £50 on your shopping, they are giving a voucher for £20 off when you spend £100 on electrical items. It says in-store purchases, but unlike other vouchers i've seen from them, it doesn't specifically exclude tesco-direct. Whilst tesco wouldn't normally be my goto shop for hard-drives, i'm sure with this voucher some of the external drives they stock suddenly seem more attractive with a £20 discount.
  17. got one on order, it's my 2nd one of these. for this price, i'm going to use it for a firewall distro (smooth wall), just gotta find a decently priced low profile pci-e gigabit nic to go in it. it will eventually end up as my 2nd unraid unit when funds allow me to get some more hard drives.
  18. Ebuyer (uk) are offering the hp proliant microserver n54l for £209.99, but with the £100 cashback from Hp, means you can get one of these boxes for £109.99. http://www.ebuyer.com/430446-proliant-microserver-turion-2-2-2gb-250gb-nhpl-sata-lff-in-704941-421
  19. got it working with some heavy googling and trial and error. #!/usr/bin/env bash curyear=`date +%Y` lastyear=$((`date +%Y` -1)) testyear=($lastyear,$curyear) if [[ $1 == *$testyear* ]] then case $3 in *movie*) priority="1" ;; *) priority="$5" ;; esac else priority="$5" fi echo "1" echo $1 echo $2 echo $3 echo $4 echo "$priority" echo $6 echo $7
  20. i'm looking to write a prequeue script for sabnzbd and i'm a little unsure of how to do something as i'm fairly new to linux in general. i thought i'd ask here as well as on the sab forum as there may be something peculiar to unraid that i should be aware of. I'm looking to have movies that are 2012 and later assigned a higher priority in my sab queue and looking to do it automatically. the bit i need help with is how to do the if (name of movie contains 2012 or 2013) bit of the script. any linux gurus here that can help ?
  21. Very interested in this split level thing, will read that and make sure i've digested it before doing my data dump. spent all afternoon going through my tv show folders making sure all of them were split in to season folders with just the .nfo's and .jpg's in each show's root folder.
  22. ok, i guess i was confusing disks and shares on the unraid, what i didn't want was to copy all the stuff to the unraid only to have to wait again for it all to be copied between drives on the array, got to start thinking in array terms rather than separate drives. it's pre 8am here and i'm probably confusing myself let alone anyone else, lol.
  23. Hi there, my eventual unraid setup (it's pre clearing as i type) will consist of 4 x 2tb drives with a 2tb parity and a 160gb 2.5 drive as cache/apps unit. I have two preexisting nas units on my network that are pretty much up to capacity now, with music , tv shows and movies. As it stands at the moment I intend to keep the existing movies where they are and only add newly acquired ones to the unraid box, I want to move my music to the unraid box as that gets added to more than any other media type. And tv shows i'd like to consolidate all my shows onto the unraid box, which brings me to my question. The tv shows are split between the two nas units (each show and season etc..... being completely on one nas) , however a lot of them are old tv shows (eg original star trek , fawlty towers and so on) and some are active shows, I plan on having a tvshows active share and another for inactive. would it be better to split the shows between active and inactive on the nas units they are currently on, or can i just dump the whole lot on to the unraid and do it there ?
  24. I've sourced the hardware required to outfit my newly acquired hp n54l microserver with 6 drives. four 2tb in array with a 2tb parity and a 160gb ex-laptop drive for apps and cache duties. unfortunately the esata to sata cable is on back order and won't arrive until the 4th of may. my question is, can i preclear the 160gb drive using the motherboard sata connector, start loading apps and using it for cache, and then later on move it to the esata to sata connection, and then add the last 2tb later on.
  25. Hi there and i'd like to welcome myself to unraid. That done, i have a few questions that i hope there are some good people here can help me with. i'm running the latest beta release of 5 unraid .12 i think it's called on a hp microserver n54l. Currently it has 4 x 2 tb drives in the bays. i have another 2tb drive i'd like to utilise as well as a 2.5 inch 160gb drive purloined from my old macbook, i'd like to add the 2tb to my eventual array and use the laptop drive as an apps/cache drive, what hardware (cables, drive caddies etc...) do i require for this ? i'm hoping to run sabnzbd, couch potato , sickbeard and headphones on this server unit, which brings me to my next question, is the 2gb of ram that came with the unit sufficient for this ? also i have a netgear readynas and wd live on my network that both have tv shows and movies on them, rather than move everything on to my unraid, i'm hoping that it's possible to mount network shares on the unraid server and have sickbeard be able to write to them to keep my shows on them updated, any new shows i add being added to the unraid, is this doable ? finally i'm somewhat intrigued by ethernet bonding as i have seen it as an option in the webgui, if i were to add a dual nic in one of the pci slots on the n54 would be there much to gain in throughput to and from my network ? my network as is consists of an airport extreme running my dhcp, bridged to my internet connection and providing wireless throughout my house, my n54 is plugged directly into one of its ethernet ports, then i have netgear 8 port gigabit ethernet switch plugged in to another of the airports ports, the switch has two mac mini's and the other two nas's i mentioned earlier connected to it, all wired connections being gigabit. thanks for any help and sorry about the run on sentences.
