  1. So finally got around to this today. I decided to rebuild from scratch - as in to look to import the Array and install from scratch. Dropped a mail to the unraid team who advised that they can move the licence from my old USB to my new usb (which is currently running a 30 day trial version) once i am ready. Also means the use of a new USB stick, which is probably long overdue. However - i have moved the SAS drives over, in (as far as i am aware) the same order as my old server, and it beings these online. However it says "Unmountable: wrong or no file system" (ignore the HDD temps - i'll sort that now!) However it correctly identifies the array as ZFS.. Anyone any advice on how to rebuild this? I do have a backup, however ideally being able to recover the ZFS array would save a bunch of time. With regards to the cache drive, this is new to the array... does this just need to be formatted? Thanks
  2. Thank you @Wody - appreciated. Just finishing the build now, hopefully will be able to move things over tomorrow.... Will advise how it goes 👍
  3. So after a year or so and some recent issues with my "old" trusty Dell R730xd, I've decided to retire her and go with a custom build, which hopefully should result in a more reliable and more eco-friendly (i.e. less electric) system - along with bringing her up to date a little. Nothing out of this world (mu old desktop basically!). So the old system is an R730xd with a 5x6tb SAS drive ZFS array, a 1Tb ssd cache, and a stand alone SSD (that never really gets used to be fair). It;s predominently used for storage, however it also runs around 7 or 8 docker containers. Running 7.0.0. Despite the fact it's 10 years old, it's massively overpowered in more ways that one! The newer system will be a Ryzen 3 3700x based, with an LSI 9400-16i SAS card to run the drives, in a nice fractal designs case. yes, much less power, however its not needed IMO for what it is doing. Its all very well thinking about the system itself, however now that i'm in build phase, my thoughts turn to migration. I'm guessing that there's no way that I'd just be able to move the disks over in order and it will all spring back to life - with a new controller etc. Is there any documentation, or does anyone have any advise (other than making sure i have a good backup or two!) for doing something like this please? On a similar note, is there any way to "export" the Docker settings to allow me to re-install these should everything go wrong and retain the config i currently have? Any advise/suggestions welcomed, and many thanks!
  4. Thank you @JorgeB - appreciated. Will report back if anything strange noticed 👍
  5. Im just putting a new build together (Strangely going from an old Dell server to a custom build tower (Fractal Design R5).. Unsure on the Mobo yet (I may well use my older X570M pro4 Mobo which has 2 PCIe 4.0 x16), however have just managed to pick one of these up... LSI 9400-16i SAS HBA IT Mode (SATA,SAS,NVME). SAS 3416 Chipset, PCIe 3.1 x8 Images attached... Its a system pull, and does bare all the hallmarks of a genuine card. Seller tells me it's been stripped of the bios. It comes with 2x SFF-8643 cables and also two SAS cables, which by my reckoning should allow me to be able to run 8xSAS and 8xSATA if needed. Anyone forsee any issues with this card at all please? Thanks
  6. Hi, Thought i would give this a go since i could do with mediawiki to allow me to chart progress and docs on several things i am trying to do. Installed (asked for it to create it's own DB), and off it went. All done. Went to the Webui, and just a blank page - couldnt even get to the MediaWiki installer... Logs just show 301 error when the page is accessed. Is anyone able to advise if this still installs please?
  7. Please could someone assist here, as i'm going round and around in circles. Until a few weeks ago everything worked fine. However for some reason I'm getting no IPAddress assigned locally (if i select "WebUI" it just comes up with "blocked".... If anyone could give me any pointers would be appreciated - am guessing I have missed something here?? If i manually put an IP into "Fixed IP address (optional):" the container wont start (Execution Error 403). Thanks!
  8. Just thrown it in and it fully recognises the disk (passes the serial). Any chance you might be able to point me in the right direction so i can learn about how to set this up please @itimpi?? Many thanks!
  9. Because the drive i am using (and already have) is an internal drive, and I have free Caddy space in my server... Rather than purchasing an external enclosue
  10. Hi all, Currently running an R730, 5x6tb disks set as zfs, and holding around 8tb of data currently. I'd like to be able to (if possible) insert another disk, take a backup (using a disk format readable by other machines), and then store remotely... Refreshing this backup every month or so. Is this possible? Any useful plugins to allow me to do this please? Just looking for options Thanks! Paul
  11. I wish i had the capacity you do!!! Good luck!
  12. And Voila - as simple as that... Set the drive timeout to an hour. Now it spins down regular and saves power! Checking in Idrac, looking a lot better now... Thank you!!
  13. @doron So my devices hapilly spin down manually and stay down for a while before coming back up. However they never spin down automatically. If i manually spindown from the Main screen, i see this in the logs : Feb 29 00:48:38 Kermit emhttpd: spinning down /dev/sdh Feb 29 00:48:38 Kermit emhttpd: spinning down /dev/sdg Feb 29 00:48:38 Kermit emhttpd: spinning down /dev/sdd Feb 29 00:48:38 Kermit emhttpd: spinning down /dev/sde Feb 29 00:48:38 Kermit emhttpd: spinning down /dev/sdb Feb 29 00:48:38 Kermit emhttpd: spinning down /dev/sdf Feb 29 00:48:38 Kermit emhttpd: spinning down /dev/sdc Feb 29 00:48:38 Kermit SAS Assist v2024.02.18: Spinning down device /dev/sdd Feb 29 00:48:38 Kermit SAS Assist v2024.02.18: Spinning down device /dev/sde Feb 29 00:48:38 Kermit SAS Assist v2024.02.18: Spinning down device /dev/sdc Feb 29 00:48:38 Kermit SAS Assist v2024.02.18: Spinning down device /dev/sdf Feb 29 00:48:38 Kermit SAS Assist v2024.02.18: Spinning down device /dev/sdb However cannot see any attempts to automatically spin down - only when done manually. I am using ST6000NM0034 Drives on a Dell RX730. Bit of a newbie here - Any suggestions as to what I can try?? Many thanks!
  14. Just to say - I have exactly the same base hardware (other than the controller) and issues as you @dunee and see the same results. SAS Spindown Utility (v20210201.01) ls: cannot access '/dev/disk/by-path/*-sas-*': No such file or directory Error: No SAS drives detected. ls /dev/disk/by-path/ pci-0000:00:1a.0-usb-0:1.2:1.0-scsi-0:0:0:0@ pci-0000:00:1a.0-usb-0:1.2:1.0-scsi-0:0:0:0-part1@ pci-0000:02:00.0-scsi-0:0:0:0@ pci-0000:02:00.0-scsi-0:0:0:0-part1@ pci-0000:02:00.0-scsi-0:0:12:0@ pci-0000:02:00.0-scsi-0:0:13:0@ pci-0000:02:00.0-scsi-0:0:13:0-part1@ pci-0000:02:00.0-scsi-0:0:1:0@ pci-0000:02:00.0-scsi-0:0:1:0-part1@ pci-0000:02:00.0-scsi-0:0:2:0@ pci-0000:02:00.0-scsi-0:0:2:0-part1@ pci-0000:02:00.0-scsi-0:0:3:0@ pci-0000:02:00.0-scsi-0:0:3:0-part1@ pci-0000:02:00.0-scsi-0:0:4:0@ pci-0000:02:00.0-scsi-0:0:4:0-part1@ I'll do similar and see if i have any luck my end, and report back! All my drives are ST6000NM0034 drives... running on a Perc H730 Mini Raid controller (different controller). I didnt re-flash it purely because it worked as-was out of the box (rightly or wrongly!). I did go into the H730 config and mark each drive as non-raid though, so didnt do everything wrong. For info, see here : https://www.dell.com/community/en/conversations/poweredge-hddscsiraid/dell-r730xd-with-perc-h730-and-non-raidhba-mode/647f4c61f4ccf8a8de5076c2
  15. After all the highly technical stuff above, I have what i hope is a simple question (part of the solution being qbittorrent-vpn) which is asked out of pure innocence having not long gotten into all this! 😀 I have Qbittorrent-vpn all configured and working as far as i am aware. I am using Sonarr and have nzbplanet set as an indexer and qbittorrent as the download "engine". However whilst Sonarr has the files i want listed and in the queue, it comes up with "Pending : Download Client is unavailable" - which initially i thought reffered to Would i be correct in saying that nzbplanet uses Usenet and qbittorrent uses torrents, and so therefore to allow me to use nzbplanet as an indexer i would have to use a usenet account with something like SABnzbd? Or alternatively (to flip it around!), I would need some kind of Torrent indexer to be able to use with qbittorrent??
