  1. when using the p5b-vm do as a windows machine, the drivers let me choose jumbo frames for the onboard nic for up to 7.5k but 9k was not on the list.
  2. thats the exact same thing as the athena power one i listed a couple of posts up
  3. i dunno about your specific model, but to be safe i suggest you just go to best buy and pick up a micro cruzer 2gb, it's on sale for 19.99...came to like 21 after tax, thats what i'm using. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8281352&st=micro+cruzer&lp=1&type=product&cp=1&id=1171672069828
  4. i use the athea power backplanes, work like a charm http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817995001
  5. What, if any, pcie sata controller cards are supported? I want to use pcie instead of pci b/c i will be streaming a lot of HD material (hd-dvd/blu-ray) to atleast 2 if not 3 other pc's at one time, not looking for one that does any hardware raid, as that'd be a waste for unraid. What about port multipliers? are they supported thru unraid if using a SIL3132 base pcie card connected to a port multiplier? I looked over the wiki, but didn't see any pcie recommendations. thanks
  6. look here: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=896462 (my build) i used the PCI card for extra sata ports, but be warned that when using unRaid with drives connected to the PCI sata ports will slow it down, as when building the parity drive or whenever information needs to be read from all drives, it will be slowed down to the slowest component in your PC, which will be your PCI sata ports (since 4 drives will be sharing the PCI bus). Another option is to use PCIe sata controller cards (don't know if those are supported by unraid or not), which will not cause this bottleneck. The p5b-vm do has a 4x pcie and a 16x pcie slot available for you to use.
  7. Hi, i was building a server and looking for a good raid solution and came across here, the funny thing is, my motherboard is a p5b-vm do and the lian-li PC-A16B case, as you have available to purchase on your website heh But neway, i currently have 2 500gb drives filled with data already running on a windows 2003 machine, if I wanted to run unRaid would these disks have to be formatted by unraid for it to work? Or would i be able to use these drives as is? Thats the only concern I have right now, which is holding me back from puchasing. Also, is it better to run drives in AHCI mode even if you are not going to be using hot-swap bays? Thank You
