  1. Actually' date=' no.  The files you are referring to are called '.reiserfs_priv' and they exist only in the root directory of a file system.  They are used to store "extended attributes" which are necessary to support Active Directory correctly.  All releases prior to 4.5-beta2 should never create these files.[/quote']

I'm running 4.4.2 on my main box and never went higher yet I have the .reiserfs_priv files....

    ???

  2. There was a recent thread about the Corsair 750TX causing problems for some users.  Basically the system would shutdown under very little load.  I'd go with the PC Power and Cooling.

BTW, 750 watts is not needed unless you are planning to go to 20 drives.  I am running 16 with 550 watts.  8 1T GP drives would easily run at 400 watts.

I suspect these users had "other" operator err.. - excuse me - hardware problems, since my two servers, bothe equipeed with Corsair 750TX's work perfectly and don't skip a beat... and I had an OCZ 650 in one of the servers (with loads properly distributed) and it would occasionally shut down when I hit "SPIN UP ALL DRIVES"... 13 SATA drives.

  3. If you go to each disk share (after temporarily turning off user shares) and create a folder called media on each of the affected drives, then move the previous folders (movies, music, tv) into the new media folder, the folder entries only will be moved, the files will stay in place.  Then delete the old user shares and restart user shares.  You should be in like Flint...  :D

  4. The gist of what I've read is that the affected drives were tested at the factories with a certain test program, thus not all drives even from the same factory are affected... were I you, I would only update the one drive.

That being said, a link to the diagnostic you mentioned would be appreciated and relevant...
