Hallo, ich finde auf unRAID 7.2.3 kein netcat. Klar, das kann man von einem laufenden Linux rüberkopieren (so habe ich das jetzt gemacht), aber nc ist einfach ein Schweizer Messer für Netzwerkaufgaben und sollte nicht fehlen. Ist das absichtlich weggelassen worden oder kann man das als Wunsch auffassen, dass es in zukünftigen Versionen wieder reinkommt? Danke.

affirmative. I knew there was a feature set, but i was missing the info that UD has its own approach. Once you think about it and consider that it deals with external disks that you just want to mount without modifying anything, it makes a lot of sense. In my usecase, my unRAID has a cage for single drives to send/recv zfs snapshots for backup purposes but now i know what to do.

found the issue: when creating the pool, a lot of features are not set, including the large_block feature, most likely due to compatibility. Once you run zpool upgrade <Pool>, the necessary features are set and i was able to set recordsize=1M. (This implies, you will not be able to mount the pool on ZFS systems not supporting the featureset).

das Erstellen mit recordsize=1M in einem Pool funktioniert. Wo's nicht geht ist eine Festplatte, die über das UD plugin angesteuert wird. Ich habe dort im Supportthread mal gefragt, ob das eine bekannte Restriktion ist.

Hi, is there a limitation with UD to create a ZFS dataset with recordsize=1M on a pool on an external disk? I tried and can only create with recordsize up to 128K. On a pool (in unRAID, without UD) it works, though. (Update: Please forget the question - my fault. The pool is created with not the necessary featureset to enable recordsize=1M. You need to upgrade the pool first, then it works.)

with a little test, i can add that setting a testdataset on a ZFS pool to 1M works. So it might have to do with the single SATA drive BKUP4, running as unassigned device in unRAID (the unassigned devices plugin is installed)?

That's not working either. root@Unraid:~# zfs create BKUP4/bkp_Temp root@Unraid:~# zfs set recordsize=1M BKUP4/bkp_Temp cannot set property for 'BKUP4/bkp_Temp': 'recordsize' must be power of 2 from 512B to 128K I see that in Diags even though allegedly it's anonymized, SN of all disks are included in clear text. I feel a little bit uneasy without redacting the files or at least checking what is in them. Is there some specific file you are asking for? (The installation was upgraded from when i bought my first license which was probably in November 2024, so maybe 6.7...; some tools are installed like ZFS Master)

gut, ich habe selbst herausgefunden, dass ich in Tools/System drivers den Parameter hinzufügen, speichern und rebooten kann. Das ändert aber leider nichts. Wie kann ich in unRAID ein Dataset mit einem Recordsize von 1M erstellen?

ok, i found out that in Tools/System drivers i can add the parameter, save and reboot. However, this does not fix the issue. How can i create 1M recordsize datasets in unRAID?

Hallo, bin etwas überraschend darauf gestoßen, dass mit unRAID 7.2.3 wohl das Anlegen oder Verändern von Datasets mit einem Recordsize von 1M nicht möglich ist. Angeblich muss man den Modul-Parameter zfs_max_recordsize entsprechend setzen. Erstens - wie mache ich das in unRAID? (Zweitens - warum ist das so? (Mir scheint das recht stabil zu sein und zfs-2.3.4-1 ist jetzt auch nicht übermäßig alt))

Hallo, ich hatte stillschweigend erwartet, dass ich meine replizierten Datasets auf unRAID einfach über das unassigned Plugin freigeben könnte. Das klappt auch, allerdings sind die User vom Dateisystem von einem anderen System und dementsprechend kann ich über die Freigabe in keinen Ordner absteigen. Ich würde aber gerne einen Katalog des Inhalts erstellen auf meinem Mac (NeoFinder). Und nichts an diesem "Backup" ändern. Jetzt schau ich mir die Mounts an und sehe z.B. für eine hfsplus-Partition umask=0,uid=0,gid=0 in den Optionen. Kann man das für ZFS auch machen, wenn ja wie? Oder gibt es eine andere Möglichkeit?
