Which Intel CPU would you go for in Q2 of 2025?
I thought the BIOS update fixed the issue, but I'm seeing several reports of people who purchased 13/14th gen products in the past few months who previously did the BIOS update and are still experiencing failed processors that they've had to RMA. These anecdotal reports combined with the fact that Intel released yet another microcode update yesterday to address more instability issues is clearly telling everyone that there are still problems and they don't have this situation under control. With the 265K dropping to $299 a few days ago, I would probably go with a 15th gen system at this point.

Supermicro MBDH12SSLCO causing Noctura fans to ramp up and down
I did it a long time ago with my X10 board, but anything past X11 seems to be more difficult. I definitely did not get anywhere until I used SuperMicro's proprietary IPMI tools. The other IPMI tools did not give me as many options or control. There are posts like these: Or this project: https://github.com/petersulyok/smfc?tab=readme-ov-file ServeTheHome is also a good resource for this, but I think most people are stuck in the same place as you with the 12 and later boards.

Supermicro X10SRH-CLN4F
I've been running mine w/E5-2698 v4, 128GB DDR4 & HBA 24/7 for over 8 years straight and it has been rock solid. I haven't had a single issue with it. It's perfect for Unraid and the IPMI is a nice bonus. Bifurcation should work with two compatible drives, but I don't use this feature. I do have one GPU plugged in, which I pass through to a VM and it works fine. With that said, I am finally moving on from it over the next few months for upgrading and power efficiency gains. The architecture is over a decade old and when I set the machine up, I chose to virtualize Unraid within ESXi and let VMware handle the VM's. Over time, I noticed Windows VM's becoming somewhat slower compared to when I virtualize on newer platforms like AM5 or LGA 1700. I'm sure it's just the Windows bloat that has been added over the course of time. I also made a false assumption during my build that Xeon's had QuickSync. It turns out only a small handful of them do. It's nice to have this if you run a Plex server and do transcoding from time to time, but you can also use a GPU to do this if needed. I think you'll like it for Unraid, but make sure you don't overpay for it. People are paying more for it today (used, same with x99 boards) than when I bought it brand new and I'm not sure why. Make sure you compare it to whatever is readily available on the market and see if it still makes sense.

Intel 15th Gen 'Arrow Lake' Thoughts?
That's great news. Which distributor?

Intel 15th Gen 'Arrow Lake' Thoughts?
Yeah, the lead time was what I was worried about. I also suspect there's high demand and limited supply just like last time. I was trying to obtain the board quickly before the semiconductor tariffs would be applied. The X13SAE-F wasn't available here until July of 2022 and it looks like SM is following the same rollout timeframe this time around. Thanks for the information.

Intel 15th Gen 'Arrow Lake' Thoughts?
Would you mind sharing where were you able to purchase this board? I've been looking all over for it. It's always out of stock or not carried at all because it's so new. I'm thinking of just placing a backorder with Tech America.
