  1. run PHP VB on another machine, that's what I'm doing for now. So yes, I've been editing the file manually, however I can't get it to install the plugin and restart VMs automatically when restarting the unraid machine. Has anybody found a solution to this?
  2. 6.0 beta 4 Two issues: 1. When I "Save Below Configuration" it blanks out all the settings in the virtualbox config file, except for the symlink location, regardless of what settings I have on the webpage. 2. I 'll restore the previous settings by editing the file manually, including upgrade on boot, start on array mount, etc, however after a system restart none of the settings are followed and according to the log it says these settings are disabled? The plugin doesn't install on boot, and obviously nothing else happens either. I have to manually install it from the webpage and start everything up. Everything else works fine and I can run VMs without problems. Just wish it would survive a restart as expected.
  3. Thanks for the suggestion but I'd rather not spend my time figuring out how to compile a kernel, as much as I like learning new things it just not time well spent for me right now. I'll just live with RC13 for now and wait until Realtek resolves it or the Linux kernel drivers can handle it....or just buy new hardware if its that important for me to start playing with VirtualBox on Unraid. This really sounds like a problem that is out of the hands of the Unraid developers. If I wasn't using the free version I'd be disappointed, but until then I'll just be happy with what I'm running. Let's see if Realtek and/or the Linux people can figure it out. Frustrating when it jumps back and forth between working and not working though.
  4. Except that I am running a Mini-ITX board with one PCI slot that is used by a SATA card, which all fits into a nice, small computer case. So I'd either need to remove the option to use more drives by replacing the SATA with an Intel NIC, or just get a more modern board with more SATA headers and/or preferably with Intel NIC on board. I really liked the fact that I was able to run Unraid on low cost $60 MOBO/CPU. Any suggestions on hardware that fits the bill? I don't need it to be a hotrod. Probably a mini-itx board/i3 combo..
  5. I ran across that thread previously when i first encountered this issue. Long story is I was running RC5 (I think that's what I was on) for a while, then a couple weeks back I tried upgrading to the latest RC as I wanted to play with VirtualBox on Unraid. NIC didn't come up. So I reverted back to the next RC up from 5, NIC went down. Then I incremented up from 5-13, I found the NIC didn't work on most but it came up on some, I lost track of which ones. Obviously if you follow along the release notes there are issues with the Realtek NIC kernel drives vs. Realtek supplied and the RC were back and forth. I read the whole story. I found RC13 was the latest that worked. I was hoping 5 stable would reinstate support, unfortunately it didn't. Is there a plan to address in an update or should I just buy new equipment now?
  6. OK, got it so I'll need to log in on the machine and manually copy the log over. probably won't have time to get to it until next week.
  7. I have a stock go script and I'll verify I have the plugins folder emptied. I assume the syslog will be stored in the log folder on the flash drive after startup and I can just copy that file, no need to be able to access through the web UI, as I don't expect the network to come up.
  8. Yeah, the log is from after I reverted back to RC13, which runs. I attached the log to help identify the NIC. I had to hard shutdown from previous startup when I tried 5 stable. sorry for the confusion.
  9. Upgraded to 5 stable and my network won't come up. I think it's a Realtek issue, ifconfig shows loopback address. I went back through all the release candidates and the latest one that worked was RC13. Had trouble with a few before it. So I'm running on RC13 now. syslog attached-once I got it running again on RC15, I'm guessing this can help identify the NIC. Sorry I don't have the syslog from 5 stable. Old Intel D945GCLF2 mini-itx board, I can't recall what the NIC is but the Internet says Realtek 8111C. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks syslog.txt
  10. Anybody try the VIA PC-1 dev board, 60 bucks shipped. super low power consumption. C7-D CPU and CN700 and VT8237R Plus chipset that should support SATA2 unlike the VT8237. C7 processor should be supported, chipset should be, how about the onboard LAN? Has anybody tried this? I'm really looking for low-cost, low power. Not concerned with speed since it's typically supporting one client at a time for backups or serving dvd library. I just want some storage redundancy at a low price and low power consumption.
  11. OK so I guess I'll post in another thread. Just figured since we were on the topic of C7.
  12. just discovered the VIA PC-1 dev board, 60 bucks shipped. super low power consumption. C7-D CPU and CN700 and VT8237R Plus chipset, so supposedly that supports SATA2. so processor is most likely supported, chipset should be, how about the LAN? Has anybody tried this I'm really looking for low-cost, low power. Not concerned with speed since it's typically supporting one client at a time for backups or serving dvd library. I just want some storage redundancy at a low price and low power consumption.
  13. OK, thanks for the confirmation. I kept seeing success stories on "mini-itx" boards, I could just never find specifically which ones. So no support of VIA C3 family with syslinux.
  14. May I ask which specific mobo you got this working with?? I have an VIA Epia ME 6000 (M series, CLE266 chipset) that I can't get to boot with the latest release (or any previous). I either get a message during boot: "Panic: CPU too old for kernal" (or something like that) or it gets pretty deep into loading the OS from the usb key then it spontaneously resets. I have 1 GB RAM I'd be pretty happy to get it running with this mobo since it's just sitting in a desk drawer.
