BTW, the HBA330 and H330 are from a HW perspective basically the same card, the HBA330 is a better card for Unraid when you use SAS drives because it has a much higher queue depth for SATA drives it does not really matter.
Hey thanks for responding...
Belive it or not.. after trying everything....
I removed all the dell drives and tested with some new wd red pros....
Everything is working fine... I put one dell drive back in.. same issue
Something with the Firmware on those Dell Drives??? -

I don't have a HBA330 but I'm running unRAID on a H330 in HBA mode for the last 5 years and have never had this issue.
no special settings or mods just a fairly plan 6.9.2 no-matter how i start the parity check I get around 200MB/s per disk (as long as there is no other IO)
How did I not see this!
Do your drives spin down? or are they always up? -

I played with everything last night with zero luck....
Everything was set to performance, so no energy savings.....
I ordered some 8087 cables, I'm going to go from backplane direct to mobo
Bypass the HBA330, see if it still does it -

I don't see anything unusual in the diags. Starting a parity check on spun-down drives will cause them to spin up via I/O, meaning there is no explicit "spin up" command sent to the drive, instead it spins itself up due to I/O. The 'Spin-up All' button sends an explicit spin-up command to each drive, well actually it tells the drive to exit 'standby' state. Maybe the controller or those drives, has some kind of power saving feature whereby spin-up by I/O leaves drive in an "in between" state where it's not at full performance in an effort to save power? - but that doesn't make much sense to me.
Has anyone else seen this issue?
Thanks for looking into this, I just want to clarify it's not just a parity check.. it's absolutely anything.
Transfering files disk to disk via MC, using diskspeed as a benchmarks..I'm assuming you looked at the video?
I will investigate later tonight, to see if I can find anything in the bios/idrac or controller regarding power savings.

I posted it in the other one, but her is my diagnostic file

As per many people.... on the unraid discord..
I picked up an HBA330....
Exact same issues -
ON RC6 now, same thing.. manual spin up equals perfect results again
