  1. Looking forward to testing your hard work
  2. I gained a lot of responsiveness via standard copies, and 50MB/s on parity checks by running this tool. I now get 110MB/s on parity checks. Happy
  3. Correct, that's why I use a Mac (hackintosh actually). If you have to reinstall your OS because you browse websites, your operating system is rubbish. Linux as a desktop OS is just as secure if you do things right...
  4. Ha! Classic! No, I don't use a VM for my web surfing. Was just pointing out that copying 10Gb every time you wish to revert back to a VM state is very time consuming and inefficient
  5. I think what he's getting at is that there is the potential for someone to post a malicious plugin, which has the ability to run anything it wished - as all commands executed via the webGUI are run as root. Javascript has nothing to do with it. There is a distinct lack of security surrounding the webGUI, however it was never designed to be open to the world. If you're in an enterprise network, simple segregate it. I want to clear this up because it's a little misleading. Javascript can't execute anything at the system level without a JS runtime like Node. In the case of unraid, Javascript is safe. It simply can't do anything in that arena. Quite right :-)
  6. You are by far the minority here. While I agree a GUI this simple shouldn't *require* Javascript to run, you must have a terrible existence on the internet without it - as ajax is now used extensively to prevent page reloads on many websites. Eg, Google... I agree, this is poor design from a security point of view. Let's hope that changes once emhttpd is out of the way.
  7. Are you running any simpleFeatures plugins (or any other plugins?).
  8. I will be talking to Tom regarding these changes. I agree, not a huge fan of the sticky header. I've already requested a change to the way the tables are positioned. Cheers
  9. Hi - are you talking about the 'sticky' header?
  10. I agree with most of this! I will be working with Tom to ensure the final version of the webGUI is polished. The tables will need to be modified (not a particularly easy feat as they are generated multiple times depending on array status. This is nothing something that should be messed with until thoroughly tested) to work with the jQuery plugins. This may come in a later update.
  11. It's not the pretty UI in and of itself that causes problems. It is the fact that SimpleFeatures was developed separately from the rest of unRAID. Now that Tom is in charge of this new UI, it should stay in sync with updates to unRAID. Perhaps more importantly, it should be "officially supported" and Tom is on the hook for compatibility/stability issues related to it. This is a good move forward. + 1. There is no service, or anything else in this new GUI that causes instability. It is largely based off the 'stock' GUI code, but has some styles to improve the look. You'll end up with a better experience, as Tom can now make changes to the GUI when he needs - and it'll be included with each version of unRAID. Cheers!
  12. Hi Guys, I'm working with Tom to help him through any styling problems, so your feedback and testing is appreciated. I'll also do my best to release a new version of SimpleFeatures shortly after v5 goes final. Cheers, Andrew
  13. Looking forward to it
  14. Ah well, in a month or so - all of the plugins will be modified so they don't rely on the base plugin.
  15. Sorry, I meant don't. I've edited my post. Need more sleep
  16. Simply, yes. Copy over the plg files that you want to use. Pretty sure those specific plugins don't rely on the base plugin.
  17. Fairly certain that Mail and S3 sleep plugins will work without the base plugin. Just install and find out
  18. No, just the opposite. I just started working at a new job on July 1st and have been working late almost every day involved in knowledge-transfer sessions from the prior holder of the position. There is so much that is not documented anywhere, and most code has very little (if any) comments. It is not at all like the code I write, where you can follow it even if not a programmer. It is a great position at a medium size eCommerce company. I report to the COO as their new Senior-Systems-Architect. In any case... I've not yet even downloaded your new apcupsd package, but should be able to get to it this weekend. I want to try it here and figure out how to deal with the other two apcupsd packages. (If we should add logic to all three to un-install any existing of the three when subsequently installing any of the three as a replacement) Joe L. Congrats on the new job! " It is not at all like the code I write, where you can follow it even if not a programmer. ", I hear ya. Even complex code can be made easy to read...
  19. I don't have any problems with xnas - the approach isn't particularly mature but he/she is obviously switched on.
  20. Interesting - what modules are those? I use the stock standard PHP package.
  21. Ok, ill try a different tack! Is there a way I can add additional php modules to ensure all mentioned in the various openphoto install guides are enabled?! In /boot/config/simpleFeatures/ there is a php.ini file. Edit this, and enable the modules you want to be loaded.
  22. Did NOT work. EIDT: This version works--- simpleFeatures.email.notify-1.0.10-noarch-1.plg Hi Frank, Thanks for that - I'll continue working on it then :-) I expected some mail servers to see the email as spam, not the first tester though. Cheers
