  1. Is it possible, in the S3 Sleep plugin, to have a before sleep command that would abort the sleep process?

You can execute commands before "sleep" is initiated, but once all conditions are met, you can not abort the sleep execution. If you don't want sleep to occur then make sure the conditions are set accordingly.

Thanks for the answer bonienl. I was hoping to use a script in the before sleep command to add an additional condition to evaluate before sleep. Specifically I am trying to figure out how to prevent my server from sleeping if a TV program is scheduled to record within a certain time frame. Since aborting the sleep execution isn't possible I will have to rethink my approach. It would be interesting to a have a way add additional sleep conditions by evaluating a user provided script. Anyway thanks for all the great plugins!

  2. Verified again that i cannot cross flash this controller to it, it claims that the firmware image is 2mb but the controller has only 1mb. So back to my original question, is there any way around the hdparm issue i am having with this controller, or is this a limitation that make it incompatible with Unraid?

  3. The drive size limitations don't bother me, however i have already made multiple attempts to flash it to IT firmware. The firmware images I have found cannot be loaded on the controller because the Dell SAS 5 is a B0 Version of the LSI SAS 1068, which apparently has a smaller amount of firmware memory than other 1068s. The images i was using were directly form the LSI site. If you could point me to a place to download MPTSAS.ROM I am willing to keep trying. Would flashing the controller to the IT firmware allow the spindown command to function properly?

  4. I am a new Unraid user trying to get a Beta6 server going on some older hardware. My setup has a built in Dell SAS 5 raid controller along with a built in SATA controller. The drives on the SATA controller work perfectly however my cache drive, which is on the SAS Controller refuses to spin down. I have searched  the forums a bit already trying to determine if the controller is incompatible with Unraid or if I am running into some other issue. the results however were of little help.

What I do know is that the Dell SAS 5 is a LSI SAS 1068 (B0) with IR Firmware. It does not appear that the B0 model is capable of running IT firmware. Running the hdparm -y command to suspend the drive like unraid does results in a " SG_IO: bad/missing sense data, sb[]: f0 00 00 00 00 00 00 0a 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 " message. Can anyone tell me if this controller should be working with Unraid, or if the controller can be made to work with unraid?

  5. Hello Unraid Forums,

I am new to unraid and have been playing around with 6.0-beta12. My hardware is an old Dell Precision 690 which has both an SATA controller and an SAS controller, an LSI SAS 1068 IR I believe. I have three hard drives that i have been connecting in different configurations. While the hard drives work correctly when connected to the SATA controller, anytime i connect one the SAS controller it stays spun up at all times. I have tried using spindown timers and the spindown button in the webgui to no avail the drive always appears as active in the webGui. I tried getting the power state of the drive using hdparm and the result was

    SG_IO: bad/missing sense data, sb[]:  70 00 05 00 00 00 00 0a 00 00 00 00 20 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00

    drive state is:  standby

Being unfamiliar with hdparm and linux in general, I am not certain what this result means or where to go from here. I was hoping to be able to use all the available ports, both sata and sas, on this box for unraid. Any information would be appreciated.
