  1. Where can they be found? Sent from my LG-D855 using Tapatalk
  2. My openvpn-as has been running for a few weeks but i recently accepted an update and now i cant connect. Anything i need to be looking at following recent update? A bit vague i know but i'm not techy and folliwed gridrunners vid without any issues. Sent from my LG-D855 using Tapatalk
  3. Thanks to all. I 'think' i have it sorted now. Bit confusing about whether or not to add domain/dns to router or not especially as it does have a noip setting but on advice here decided to remove. I did have both noip docker AND entries in router which obviously worked twice as well. I'm going to see how it goes over a couple of days. Any questions, i'll be back. Ta! Sent from my LG-D855 using Tapatalk
  4. So ... to summarise, run 1 openvpn-as, run no-ip docker, do NOT code any dyn dns at router level, port forward to just the 1 server running openvpn-as, yes? Sent from my LG-D855 using Tapatalk
  5. Still not getting this, sorry. I have 3 unraid servers, openvpn-as is running as a docker on one only. Are you saying that i'll be able to manage all three servers, theyre obviously not connected other than being on the same lan, from just this one instance? Sent from my LG-D855 using Tapatalk
  6. Thanks ... I thought as much. But what if i need to see all of my servers? Do i need to install an openvpn instance on each one and then set up a port forwarding rule in the router to each one? If thats whats needed then why do people recommend running dyndns at router level? How do they secure the network beyond then? Sent from my LG-D855 using Tapatalk
  7. Ok ... so when/why would i need openvpn-as on my server if i can see everything from the router. Or have i just answered my own question there, if i dont/cant configure the router then openvpn is next best option on each specific server (i have 3 microservers)? Is there any risk in setting up dyn dns at the router level? Sent from my LG-D855 using Tapatalk
  8. Thanks. I'll take a look at that as well. I've just added dynamic dns to my router and it seems it can connect to any of my servers even though i've only got openvpnas on one and the portfardobg is only to the one address. Is this right? Or do i no longer need an openvpn docker when the router handles the dymamic address? I'm really confused about all of this ... Sent from my LG-D855 using Tapatalk
  9. I haven't used it for the purpose so all of this is breaking new ground for me. Hoopster....thanks also for all the input, i'm not quite there yet and need to suss a file browser for my tablet which will show me the 'shares'. I think i'm doing this the wrong way around and., although i can now see the unraid gui, i need some windowsy way if seeing a file explorer view of whats on there? Any ideas? Sent from my LG-D855 using Tapatalk
  10. Ah ... not quite how i thought it would work then. So, whats the best way to be able to 'see' my windows file structure representing my server shares? I have got a working windows vm on the server but will the same vpn process work from within a vm? Sent from my LG-D855 using Tapatalk
  11. Progress!! I'm now connected after a fashion, key icon at top of screen and able to 192.168.1.10 into my unraid server. Does that sound about right. I was thinking that i should be able to access via my domain name or am i way off beam here? Ultimately i need to be able to access my files easily, and not just the server gui itself, how do i go about that? Bear in mind that i'm a linux/android illiterate [emoji2] Sent from my LG-D855 using Tapatalk
  12. Thanks v.much, i'm nearly there! Profile downloaded and imported onto phone. Connect attempt throws back code 111, connection refused. I've checked out the obvious things but it seems theres some 'variable' possibly missing at the docker end?? Sent from my LG-D855 using Tapatalk
  13. Yes . i have opened up ports on router but wasnt aware of my android end needing a vpn client. Whats involved there? Just had a look at openvpn for android, will that be the right app, and cant see whats needed there? Sent from my LG-D855 using Tapatalk
  14. Thanks, you're right. My vpn is not going to be of any use. I'm busy setting up openvpn docker, managed to get it running nut cant connect. I've got noip docker running alongside. How do i put these two together to allow me to connect externally. Should it be as simple as pointing to my domain via a browser cos it aint working? I've checked that all ip addresses seem valid, noip doing its stuff. Just how to connect?? Sent from my LG-D855 using Tapatalk
  15. Can some kind person(s) give me some direction in how i go about getting to my server from the outside world? I currently have access to a vpn but dont understand what other 'extras' i need to get this working. In the past i did setup a noip account and have maintained the domain name but am reading somewhere that openvpn is a way forward without understanding why? Amy info appreciated, especially since i'll be away from home for a couple of weeks soon and really need to keep an eye on things! Thanks. Sent from my LG-D855 using Tapatalk
  16. What enclosures did you end up with? Sent from my LG-D855 using Tapatalk
  17. Maybe i'm being too cynical but you seem to have a lot more faith in google being for 'good' than me. Perhaps i need to move to a less intrusive provider in future but for now google's all i've got and its beginning to hack me off! Any good ones out there? Sent from my LG-D855 using Tapatalk
  18. Thanks all. As usual, lots to think about. I am in the process of setting up notifications, if and when google allow me a couple of extra mail accounts. Regarding parity ... if i wanted to up my parity drive from 8TB to 10TB is it simply a case of swapping out the drive and letting parity rebuild? If something goes wrong is the 'old' parity drive my potential saviour? I've got these 2 larger drives and want them in the array somehow but dont really want to risk losing anything, thats why dual parity to me is needed. Peace of mind ... Sent from my LG-D855 using Tapatalk
  19. Yes ... i did 'try' to set up separate email accounts but it seems google dont like you having too many and i got stymied at the 'verify your account' stage when each and every phone number i tried for verification was rejected. Why? I've only got three and wanted two more, not a big ask surely. Ok, i've set it to 'allow non secure apps ...' again. See what tomorrow brings. Might be easier to just ditch google, fed up with them 'deciding' what levels of security 'I' need. Its purely to protect THEM from scammers, we all know that. Sent from my LG-D855 using Tapatalk
  20. I thought this was sorted but this am i didnt receive any notifications and on checking the mail account it seems that access previously granted to less secure apps had been switched off. Does this normally happen, if so how can i keep it open? Sent from my LG-D855 using Tapatalk
  21. Tell me if this sounds ridiculous but i'm becoming paranoid about only having single parity against my array of 4x8TBs. Unfortunately i have no spare slots available and i need to migrate stuff off the array if i'm ever going to go dual parity. But, moving stuff with just one parity drive seems like an accident waiting to happen as far as i'm concerned. So ... is it possible to hook anything up externally which will 'act' as second parity and will then move into the array once i've achieved the moves needed. I've plenty of 8TB drives just no physical slot within the array. Sent from my LG-D855 using Tapatalk
  22. Thanks! Sorted ... I was repeating my full email address instead of just 'username'. What an eejit [emoji38] Sent from my LG-D855 using Tapatalk
  23. Yeah ... enabled less secure apps earlier but still getting authorization failed messages. Sent from my LG-D855 using Tapatalk
  24. I'm seeing a lot of users reporting bad disks and as part of the support response being advised that they really SHOULD have notifications switched on in advance. I've not done that so far and been trying to set up emails via a gmail account. It's just not working for me ... authorisation failures. Now i KNOW i am inputting the right details, just maybe in the wrong order [emoji2]. Can anyone enlighten me as to what goes where and if i'm still totally at odds which is a good, reliable agent to use instead? Sent from my LG-D855 using Tapatalk
  25. From me too. This whole area is a confusing one. I'll take time to assimilate your reply trurl [emoji57] Sent from my LG-D855 using Tapatalk
