  1. Krusader is only showing the USB drive, not my internal drives. when I click on the open available media, nothing seems to happen. I assume its looking at the USB because it list it as a 32GB device :) thanks for the help. jb
  2. Thank you, that was it. The SSL cert is created, now onto the config for the reverse proxy.
  3. I've read through all the pages of this post. I can't get the cert to generate. I'm trying to use duckdns.org for DDNS The log shows it failed connecting to 443 on the duckdns.org domain. I of course don't own that URL is duckdns.org Subdomains are xxx deciding whether to renew the cert(s) Preparing to generate server certificate for the first time Temporarily stopping Nginx * Stopping nginx nginx ...done. Generating/Renewing certificate IMPORTANT NOTES: - The following errors were reported by the server: Domain: duckdns.org Type: connection Detail: Failed to connect to 54.187.92.222:443 for TLS-SNI-01 challenge I have the router forwarding 443 to 443 of the host to 443 of the container. thanks,jb
  4. I'll checkout the links, but I want to make sure I'm assuming correctly. Should I be able to use the crashplan docker on unraid to be a remote backup for another PC without needing to configure my router/firewall at home? I'll stop using the mobile app because I only plan to do PC backups to the unraid box both well on the same network and remotely. thanks,jb
  5. i installed your syncthing last night. It seems to be working on my unraid box and my mobile phone even when remote. since i didn't do any port forwarding how do the device connect? Is it over a secure connection? Thanks,jb
  6. Just confirmed that crashplan is still running on my unraid box. It seems like the two machines can't talk to each other. They are both waiting for connection. The backup that ran was to a local drive.
  7. I just installed crashplan on another computer that is remote from my unraid box. When I log in with my creds I can see 'tower' but it shows as offline. I'll have to check if the container is running when I get home for lunch. thanks,jb
  8. I'll have to check the logs when I get home. Are you saying you think the mobile app won't show files that are backed up between two different computer, only backed up to their cloud service? thanks,jb
  9. installed the crashplan container last night. it started and I ran a backup (no idea where it went because this was my first time using it) I've installed the mobile app on my phone and logged in with the same account. But I doesn't show any devices. Even when I was home and on the same network Do I need to forward any ports on my firewall to get crashplan to register correctly?
  10. I'm looking to test some docker containers to do backups (remote and mobile) I don't think any of our standard dell workstations have space for two drives. I've been out of desktop support for so long jb
  11. I want to test unraid before I purchase hardware for it. I had an old Dell 2950 but none of the drives show up when I boot. I was told the perc6 does work with unraid. I have room in my ESX dev environment to spin up a virtual machine but it looks like I have to map an individual drive or pass through a controller. This ESX server is running a bunch of other Dev vms I can't disrupt them. If I find an unused Dell workstation with a single drive. Will that work to test unraid, just boot of the usb and have one drive no parity if I'm just testing? thanks,jb
  12. Thanks It was just a spare server at work. Any other option to give unraid a test run? I'm just worried that I'll buy new hardware for it only to figure out that I can't do remote and mobile backups like I want. jb
  13. I've been digging through the forums today and I found post about the 6/i but then they start talking about LSI cards and needing to flash to a IT version of the firmware. The Dell firmware on this card is 1.22.12-0952 and the bios for the card is 2.04.00 I'm sure that's not the latest and I should also flash the system bios to the latest because I can't get the usb to be the default boot device. I have to pick it manually. I'm just looking to test unraid with this system and decide if its worth buying new hardware for it vs keeping it simple and getting a QNAP [ducks] thanks,jb
  14. Thanks, I was looking at the additional RAM because I would be running plex, owncloud, etc But I'll play with the numbers to see what I can do. jb
  15. Thanks, I'm trying to keep the cost low to start. I only have about 100GBs of files and 170GB of videos right now. I could always replace the 2TB parity drive with a larger one, then reuse the 2TB drive, right? jb
  16. I'm looking to build a small unraid server instead of a synology or qnap. I'd like the small box build, going to start with just two disks and add as I need. I want to run plex and maybe Sickbeard and couchpotato. As well as something to backup my families mobile phone photos and FIL's computer remotely ( I was thinking owncloud) Here's the two options I've came up with so far. Looking for feedback http://pcpartpicker.com/p/6CRVMp http://pcpartpicker.com/p/xmrGrH
  17. Remote access and backuping up a remote computer would be on my list of reasons to build an unraid, what do you feel about remote access if used with owncloud and a SSL cert? I want to backup my mobile photos on the go and backup families computers for them.
  18. Dropbox has a cost, owncloud is free. Next is finding a unraid design that will fit the budget and is a small footprint. What about one of these two options for a starter box? http://pcpartpicker.com/p/xmrGrH http://pcpartpicker.com/p/6CRVMp Thanks!
  19. I want to build something that I can run plex server, backup my two home computers, two mobile phones (photos only) and 1 remote computer. I'd prefer not to have to use VPN for the remote computer. I think I can use unraid with plex server (clients are X1 and roku) and owncloud to satisfy these needs. Wondering what others think about owncloud and using it to backup remote computers? Can I map the owncloud backup files to a unraid volume to be shared internal via SMB? Does owncloud version files? Can I then backup the owncloud and files from plex to azure or amazon with unraid? I'm looking to keep it small maybe a 5 drive case starting with just 2, then later add a cache drive and more storage drives. Thanks,jb
