  1. Any progress in your build ?

I make some modify to mount the fan on plastic mount outside, as result, the fan now more close to the blackplane. The aim were make more air pressure to push more air out ( pls note I reverse the airflow direction from rear to front ) , btw the test got positive result.

So I have order 3 Arctic P12 Max to replace Arctic F12, the noise level have double, but I can adjust its speed by PWM, I would expect 50%-60% of P12 Max will be same as F12 (100%), after that I can cool more if I accept more noise.

    P12 Max really cheap.

  2. USB power not a good source to control SSR on/off, because it may on / off during server booting / initial.

Current sensing (normal open) switch more suitable for this case, but you need found a device have enough switching capability. Pls also confirm does EMC KTN-STL3 will power on once AC input have power.

Those switch no need external power, only need main wire pass-through it.

!! Below are example only !!.

rpm and Airflow & dB spring to mind. I think we are missing the static pressure?
    Noctua 2K:  3,94 mm H₂O
    Noctua 3K:  7,63 mm H₂O
    Wings 4:      5,31  mm H₂O

Umm ..... I don't think Wing 4 will be such large different ( too good to be true ), I browse different YT review also not found such outcome.

Below YT test said PPC3000 should be around 134.1 CFM and 5.664 mm H₂O.

Pressure really importance, airflow seriously block in a rack when insert all harddisk, we need strong pressure to push out air. ( That's also why I point out the gap between fan and fan plate. )

Below YT have review Lian Li P28 ( have PPC3000 ) , it seems quite good for restricted airflow situation, cheaper a lot (2/3 price) and have 3 speed range too. I really have some interest !!!

adhesive 3M tape? or the tight fit would be enough?

There have three side for housing contact with fan, all three side with 3M tape ? This seems some difficult . For me, I prefer drill mount hole in fan plate if haven't.

  4. You can backup the flash before each update, if you want go back then restore it. There are no big change in current v6 Unraid which will affect your requirement.

For Windows SMB access, it may prompt input username / password even the share is public, but input something would be fine.

For Player SMB access ( I set logon need ), player will remember in initial SMB shortcut setup, I don't need input again.

Toshiba MG07 series, one of the only non-SMR models available at 12TB (product page) for data centre/nas usage, and typically known for it's reliability. I think the post order service had been rough handling the package, even though the drives are known for being more audible, to me it felt they were too audible to make sense even though they made 'normal' sounds.

You mean they are not actually failure, but generate abnormal sound ?

I use lot of Toshiba 6TB disk, but next 8TB - 18TB were WD, because they are cheapest.

  6. I don't agree problem cause by disk pool, I use several btrfs/zfs pool and they work really well even in heavy load.

But I don't like cache ( mover ). I run docker in ram disk ( small total docker size ), this not because the storage can't handle it, just because spinner disk ( noise and heat ) or SSD ( endurance ) concern.

I ran memtest overnight (10 hours) and it passed again with the manual settings I referred to above. (Memory 3200MT/s  and flck 1600MT/s)

That's fine, we can assume memory / its setting fine.

  8. For robust network setup, especial Unraid / multiple ethernet server, the best way was never config. same subnet to multiple ethernet interface and use VLAN to seperate them. After that you will avoid any starnge issue.

Yes, used the built-in memtest. Two cycles and it passed. Should I let it run for longer?

May be best in 4 passed.

Regarding the BIOS settings. I just now manually configured memory speed to be 3200MT/s and flck speed to be 1600MT/s per the recommendations I could find. Other than that, see attached for what I could find on voltages. I'm guessing you are referring to DRAM voltage which is set to Auto. Should I manually change that to something else?

I will simple clock down to 2400MT/s, this is a quick way to remove memory problem then 2 passed and going further troubleshoot, you can set back to auto or 3200MT/s later if you confirm problem not come from memory. Not suggest manual set the voltage. I never found a mobo will use 3200MT/s but config in 1.2v instead standard 1.35v.
