  1. I would like to see a PxE boot option for unraid
  2. I'm running supermicro SYS-4029GP-TRT2 dual cpu system with 512GB ram and it runs around 32 virtual machines and have been dealing with random sluggish performance, i'm assuming that this due to transparent pages? Things work fine when I step down to around 32GB ram and turn off some of the VM's. Each cpu is a E5-2699 V4 @ 22 cores so 44 total for the system Each VM is running with 16GB and 1 vcpu and its correct hyper thread Is there a way to turn on or enable huge pages or does it require a custom kernel build? Currently running Unraid 6.8.2 Stable and 6.5.1 Stable Experiencing this exact issue from this linus video but the correction and fix was provided by the unraid team and doesn't appear to be available publicly? https://youtu.be/1yFQd4MaKK0?t=554 Here’s a pic for anyone interested in my build project Replaced this one Thanks!
  3. Hi everyone, i just wanted to confirm operation for this since the wiki information is a little dated. I recently upgraded my parity disks to two 8TB enterprise drives from 4TB enterprise ones, and I have about 5 3TB disks in my data array that I want to shrink down to 2 8TB drives for the time being. Im in the process of moving some parts around and wanted to take advantage of an Adaptec 71605Q so I could use Maxcache. After the shrink is complete I’m planning on connecting things up to my external sata jbods enclosures for another 72 disks. My maxcache SSD array is 8x 480gb SSD’s and I wanted to to use that as a cache accelerator for my rotational disks. Previously it was used solely as the data array in a previous build, however the lack of performance and TRIM/discard made me look for other options. My long term plan is to use nothing but nvme for cache in unraid. NVME > Maxcache > HDD i just added the 8TB HGST to the array as disk 6, my plan is to use unbalance once the rebuild is completed to move the exsisting data from the array to that. When it’s completed all I need to do is go to tools and select new config and pull the 3tb drives out of the array? Do I move slot 6 to slot 1? I haven’t really needed to do much heavy lifting with unraid since version 5? Thanks!
  4. once your booted into it you will need to mount an external datastore, i'm using NFS from freenas but unraid should also work. Doesn't appear local storage volumes show up, this could be due to the new stuff with vvols

  6. actually just install it on a usb stick as passthrough, when your done installing, turn off vm make sure the usb is not mounted. Then qemu-img convert -p p0 raw /dev/(usb device name) "/mnt/ISTOREMYSTUFFHERE/ESXI67OS.img" Then mount "/mnt/ISTOREMYSTUFFHERE/ESXI67OS.img" as the main hd in the vm as sata, you should be good to go. Going to also need to do a few things like change virtio network driver to vmxnet3 in the xml, and make sure you enabled nesting.
  7. try changing the network driver on the vm from "virtio" to "vmxnet3" manually in the XML. Keep the same mac address.
  8. Anyone done this with E5-2696V4 Cpus? I have 2 cpus on a ASUS Z10PE-D16. I want to pin core 0 and 1 from cpu one, and core 0 (44?) and 1 (45?) from cpu two. Ideally this should give 4 cores to a VM running at 3.7Ghz on turbo?
