Biggest red flag here is to the best of my knowledge, updates are never released without versioning, which implies no security updates.

What plans are being implemented for managing security updates?

Not sure if this has been clarified yet, but similar subscription/support models I've seen elsewhere give free patch level upgrades, e.g. if your support period ends on 6.14.x release, you will get any .x updates included, but you can't go to +6.15.x without renewing.

This is what I hope LT will adopt for Unraid, and will actually make certain versioning decisions more important for them in regards to support and revenue.

  2. I'm happy to see this change as it will give Unraid the resources it needs to really shine and iterate new features and all the other things we all want.

Also grateful that the licencing model doesn't penalise for time missed, Atlassian used to do this for their self hosted software and I hated it to the nth degree.

Now get cracking on the multi array release please :D

going down this rabbit hole as far as it goes lol.. I’m running unraid in proxmox all seems well.  But now I wanna connect to nfs.

Is it done? And if so how?

Use unassigned devices plugin to mount the smb or nfs share to unraid (appears under /mnt/remotes).
This can then be mounted into the docker using the usual options.

Of course most new synologys have the capability to run docker, and you might be better of running deluge directly on the synology to avoid complexity.

If there is a dev reading, can we get the option to get missing episodes back into the list so we KNOW we are missing something?

Definitely one for the Emby developers over on their forum if you don't like the changes, but you can still see missing episodes, but it has been moved to the 3 dot icon:

  5. Just a heads up, I noticed the default tag set in this template is "master", but Loki moved over to the more PC term "main" 2 years ago.
This means the default tag will load a 2 year old version of Loki, which is insecure and will likely have compatibility issues.image.thumb.png.71af997e5acf42e7eb2539964ce60379.png

  6. Is it possible to modify the disk labels auto created by Unraid for disks on main?

I have some new white label WD HC550s, and some are showing with a slightly different model name layout, even though its same model as others.

Alternatively, any utilities to modify properties of the disk itself?
Just looking to appease my OCD tendencies, this is not breaking anything.

    @tjb_altf4: Thanks for sharing! I'm owning also on 920q and a 330p.
Could you please tell me which parts you have used? e.g. the small board for the SATA connectors?

    Thanks a lot :)

    No problem :)

Other pieces were 3d printed, but thick double sided tape would work also I'd imagine

So any melanox card based on QSFP+ will be compatible with Unraid but if it's based on infinitiband I could have problems?

    like these would be compatible?

    Mellanox CX314A MCX314A-BCCT ConnectX-3 Pro 40GbE Dual-Port QSFP PCIe Card | eBay

    Mellanox ConnectX-3 MCX354A-FCBT CX354A VPI 40/56GbE Dual-Port QSFP Adapter 789398906032 | eBay

Just don't get an infiniband only card, QSFP+ is just a connector/cable and can be used for either protocol.

This one does both modes, you may to change modes to use when setting up.

    This one is ethernet only.

    image.png.fa9c0b4064e979a1ad77a0960ae8bf13.png

Note the final character of the model (T or S) means the bracket height (Tall or Short)

Sorry to rescue this old thread.

I was about to purchase this melanox model but seen that is not fully compatible is a problem.

Is there any other 40G card or better that is fully compatible with unraid and can be purchased used with a good price?

I have found the intel XL710-QDA1 but it cost almost 3 times more in ebay

There are SKUs of the mellonox cards that are infiniband only, but don't think there are any in the MCX353A line up.
You can confirm support in the product manual
    https://network.nvidia.com/pdf/user_manuals/ConnectX-3_VPI_Single_and_Dual_QSFP_Port_Adapter_Card_User_Manual.pdf

mkdir: can't create directory '/var/lib/grafana/plugins': Permission denied
    GF_PATHS_DATA='/var/lib/grafana' is not writable.
You may have issues with file permissions, more information here: http://docs.grafana.org/installation/docker/#migrate-to-v51-or-later

Kann mir jemand weiterhelfen was ich tun  muss oder wie ich den Docker zum Laufen bekomme? Vielen Dank schon einmal.

Just went through this myself, solution is to change permissions from read-only for group/other to R/W:

    Several notes on my side.

First, the "cache". Why? Your array is made of SSDs, why have a separate, most probably slower SSD as cache? Unless you're rocking 10GB/s in that tiny box, any SSD, even a SATA one, will more than max a Gigabit connection (and a 2.5BGps one).

You mention a "backup" server, but it seems to be more a separate "test" server than a backup repository, is it? Or is it one that will be used as a target for backing up data?

    Quick questions:

    • Is the "cache" also a SATA SSD? If yes, I would probably have used that last SATA slot to get a larger raidz1 ZFS pool

    • I don't see the main array anywhere in your screenshots. Did you just hide it, or did you find a way to NOT have a main array?

I don't mind being challenged on the setup, this was all whipped together over a few days, even though I wanted to do it for ages :)

The M.2 is a 250GB NVME that came with the unit from auction, its a freebie I wouldn't of bought for this but it'll get used for appdata etc for convenience + separation of roles, the pool name "cache" is the default first pool name and I've haven't sought fit to change it yet.  I was able to setup what I wanted out of Unraid in about 5min, but I'm not afraid to nuke and pave this to get the format right.

The targets for this server will be backups of vms, appdata, user docs, photos, music etc... basically all the important non-video media from my main servers.

A mirrored 4TB will be plenty for now, and its really just a +1 safeguard given existing data is already mirrored and/or parity protected on other respective servers.

Once first backup is done, I'm not expecting the backup deltas to use a lot of bandwidth... and if it does I won't notice anyway.

Main array is a spare thumbdrive, next release should remove the requirement for it to exist.

In release 6.12 you can customise the visible panels, I've simply hidden the array + parity panels (see below).

  12. Final ingredient was small + thin sata cables, which came today!

  13. A project server that I've been meaning to do for some time is a small backup server, able to be located seperately from my main rack.

I came across the M710q at local auctions and eventually picked one up for under AUD$100.

Out of the box it is well specced, with one m.2 slot and one 2.5" drive... but I really wanted 2x 2.5" so I could run a raid1 pool for backups.

Enter a slew of additional purchases, modifying a sata splitter, and a couple hours on the 3D printer to prototype a solution:

Unraid Connect v2023.09.07.1147 has been released to remedy the conflict with Dynamix File Manager to fix file editing.

Can confirm this was impacting me on 6.11.5, and the Connect update resolved the issue.
