  1. Nice. Then yes. I'll look into the CACHE_MEM_SIZE. I have it set to a hard drive that does about 100MB/s atm. I don't want to move all that data to a cache drive but maybe I should unbalance my steam share to my wd black drive if CACHE_MEM_SIZE doesn't work for me.
  2. Yeah, my server had a "settling period" as it would seem. After a while and a couple reboots everything was back up and running again, vms, dockers and all with steamcache/dns enabled and fully working. I love this concept too. I have two gaming pc's and I'm constantly futzsing with it so having a cache for my biggest steam downloads is really a life saver. My only issue is that I'm limited in bandwidth from my server back to my main pc. The most I've seen it hit is 33MB/s and I have 10 Gig infrastructure. ^_~ The platter it's on is definitely faster than that but I imagine it has something to do with either a setting I haven't found yet or something with compression maybe? Either way it's still nice to go local instead of web. It really makes gaming/downloading at the same time much easier to get away with.
  3. Ok...so I rebooted. Started steamcache and steamdns, reinstalled plex from a template using my config and then started it. Then started VM's and they are working perfectly as far as I can tell. Steamcache is working along with steamdns and I have yet to observe any issues going on 12+ hours. o_O'' Edit:Did have a hard freeze after a while gaming but it hasn't happened again. Posting diagnostics. tower-diagnostics-20171231-1408.zip
  4. Not certain if this is expected behaviour, however, when I have steamcache/dns running I can't run vms or my plex server. Is that normal? Running latest public build. Edit: Plex started working after removeing/readding the image using my same config and database (thank God!). Still, if I can't run vm's then the steambox I made on the server can't take advantage of this so it's use to me is rather limited. =(
  5. Has the intel onboard pci passthrough issue been resolved? I had to downgrade back to 6.2.4. Whenever I upgraded I was unable to pass through onboard sound and I mainly use my unraid as backup/plex/Steam streamer(Through Windows 10). I've been hesitant to upgrade since it took so long for me to figure out it was the version of Unraid that was giving me issues. My current rig for unraid is as follows: System Overview unRAID system: unRAID server Plus, version 6.2.4 Model: Custom Motherboard: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. - PRIME Z270-AR Processor: Intel® Core™ i5-7600 CPU @ 3.50GHz HVM: Enabled IOMMU: Enabled Cache: L1 Cache = 256 kB (max. capacity 256 kB) L2 Cache = 1024 kB (max. capacity 1024 kB) L3 Cache = 6144 kB (max. capacity 6144 kB) Memory: 32 GB (max. installable capacity 64 GB) BANK 0 = 16384 MB, 2133 MHz BANK 2 = 16384 MB, 2133 MHz Network: bond0: fault-tolerance (active-backup), mtu 1500 bond0: fault-tolerance (active-backup), mtu 1500 eth0: 10000Mb/s, full duplex, mtu 1500 Kernel: Linux 4.4.30-unRAID x86_64 OpenSSL: 1.0.2j P + Q algorithm: avx (47208 MB/s) + avx2x4 (30785 MB/s) Uptime: 7 days, 9 hours, 3 minutes, 39 seconds
  6. https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/josebda/2012/06/28/the-basics-of-smb-multichannel-a-feature-of-windows-server-2012-and-smb-3-0/ I imagine this might work well in the way I want. It seems most link aggregation doesn't behave the way I thought however I did notice iscsi off a freenas vm combined with an smb transfer did use my entire trunk. The iscsi lun is on a separate network on the same lan. No vlan. It seems the load is spread evenly so long as the device is considered a different destination according to a hash that's calculated. Short of it is I need a 10Gb nic, unless I'm wireless....and buy an ad wireless device for some reason. What even needs that much wireless bandwidth? ^___^
  7. I didn't experience this. When I started copying another file at the same time, my transfer speeds were cut in half. Googling 2gb trunking now. Is there any solution out there that could achieve the results I desire?
  8. Curious....would it be any different going from a windows 10 vm on the unraid machine?
  9. Wow. I can definitely get my unraid to communicate with the switch on 10G but I'd like to get it working through gb ethernet for now if possible if only to make sure it works. lol I wonder if that would be enough to take care of things on unraid's side so that my computer can get it's full bandwidth of 2G. I have cat6 going through the house already...just haven't found out how that works with sfp+ yet. I really would like to trunk ports through ethernet but so far I think I'll have to settle for 1GB performance. Maybe I'll install an embedded version of windows or something to the unraid server and see if that works using nic teaming. Could anyone point me in the direction of topics related to getting trunking to work on Unraid? Thank you for all the help. I appreciate it.
  10. I've been having so much trouble lately trying to get a 2 Gigabit connection going from my home computer to my unraid server and I'm spending too much money trying to figure it out. First to start with specs: Home PC: EVGA z87 Classified, i7 4770k, 32gb Ram, SSD @ ~500Mb r/w. Intel i217/210 dual gig Ethernet on mobo. Latest intel drivers for nic install. NIC teaming setup as static. Unraid: z270-AR mobo i5 7600, 32gb ram, 1 onboard nic, two tp-link PCI-E 1x nic's. I'm using the two Intel nic's set in static link aggregation. The two unraid tp-link nic's are set to balance-rr (Though I've tried with all methods.) Switch setup is as follows: 8 port tplink TL-SGG108E with static port trunking: ports 1&2 trunked to computer. ports 5&6 trunked to dlink smartswitch 3,4,7,8 are just living room components (TV, Xbox, etc.) dlink smartswitch: D-Link Systems 10-Port Gigabit Web Smart Switch including 2 Gigabit SFP Ports (DGS-1210-10) ports 1&2 going to ports 5&6 on TPlink. ports 5&6 going to Unraid server TPlink NIC's and ports set to static. ports 7& 8 going to netgear x10 nighthawk link aggregation ports and trunked as LACP. When I transfer files between unraid and my computer (SSD to SSD over ethernet) or vice versa I only show 50% usage of my 2GB bandwidth in windows 10. Unraid only shows traffic on eth0, eth1 traffic is negligible. I ordered this: D-Link Systems 20-Port SmartPro Stackable Switch & 2 Gigabit SFP Ports and 2 10GbE SFP+ Ports (DGS-1510-20), since I've been eyeing it for a while and i has a 10gb port that I want to connect to my netgear and in the future, unraid through a 10gb nic. Any Ideas on where to get started on troubleshooting this would be appreciated. I'm at a loss. I'm not sure where the issue is. The switching is built this way due to the segregation of equipment throughout the house but I'd like to take advantage of the aggregate bandwitdh for file transfers and ISCSI. Currently tested smb and iscsi and I installed smb direct in windows 10.
  11. So now that both of my nic cards are showing up on my UNRAID what's the best way to set them up to accomplish what I need? I have an onboard nic and a tplink pci 1x. I would like the second nic to be able to provide a separate channel for my freenas ISCSI storage or to present two nic's to any virtual machine I spin up. I feel like Plex could also make use of the extra nic. I run hyper-v on my main machine and some of the vm's use ISCSI from freenas. My windows 10 vm on unraid is used as a steambox/extra pc in our home and I'd like the steam traffic to take advantage of this as well. Any suggestions? I'm confused as to how best to map the interfaces in order to accomplish this. Thank you for a great home server btw! tower-diagnostics-20170204-1355.zip
  12. Well, the cpu is new with a stock fan so I may just need to add an aftermarket solution but that thing is dust free. It's just a tight squeeze for everything I have in a small antec 900 case in my closet. Deleted the extra key(actually just backed it up and moved it). Bios was recently upgraded on my mobo. I doubt there's an upgrade. Only thing I can think is I usually have a mouse and keyboard attached to the server and I removed them with the array powered on and a vm uses it. I'll have to test when I get back in. On a side note.....how could you tell all that? I can read logs but I'm not sure where that specific info you got is located or how it's presented.
  13. I was instructed by "Fix Common Problems" that I should upload my diag report and ask for help. Any idea what's the culprit here? Didn't get this error until upgrading my registration and updating some plugins. tower-diagnostics-20170129-1331.zip
  14. That limits the utility of the product by quite a bit for us. Our nutanix is on a 10gb switch. =(
  15. So I've gotten unraid to work at home no problem but now we have a situation that requires unraid at work. There may be a different method but we'd like to use the fast nutanix storage to move vm's to an nfs share. Nutanix can't be updated right now so I'm trying to create a virtual usb to register unraid under with no luck. Any ideas as to how to proceed. The local storage for the vm's on vsphere we're moving is too slow and the solution would be temporary until we replace our iscsi synology.
