Any update regarding the problem with the shutdown of the unraid server. I really would need to shut mine down and still cannot do it with Beta9, is that being fixed in Beta 10?

I cant find a i3-340 spec, is this a typo? Could you please post proc as this is very important. Maybe a Intel® Core™ i3-540 Processor (4M Cache, 3.06 GHz)? Sorry it was late, you were right it is of course the i3-540 processor.

Motherboard: Asus P7H55-M LX bios 0405 with 6 onboard SATA 2 connects which have 6 times SAMSUNG_HD204UI AOC-SASLP-MV8 8port SAS to SATA controller (firmware 3.1.15N) with 2x Hitachi_HDS5C3020ALA632, 3x WDC_WD20EARS, 1x SAMSUNG_HD204UI The Hitachi and 2 WD drives are in the coolermaster 4 in 3 cage. The rest of the drives are in their own bay. I use the breakout cable 1 to 4 sata connector to from the AOC controller to 6 drives. Hope this clarifies it.

Please post the hardware you are using please (Motherboard, Processor, any Controllers, how many, what firmware version, etc..). I would like to see if there is any commonality. I have been experiencing this as of 5.0Beta7. Working with Tom to resolve (he's working on it, I am just providing details). Asus P7H55-M LX motherboard, 6 Samsung F4 drives of the motherboard and a controller 3.1.15N firmware. Current 6 drives. all 2tb, 2x Hitachi 5c3000 and 3x WD green drive and another Samsung F4 connected to that controller. i3-340 processor and 4gb of Corsair ram. The motherboard has the lastest firmware 0405. Anything else you need?

Hi there, don't know if this is causing this, however I'm getting on my console lots of errors from /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/webGUI/template.php on line 150. I have version0.70 already installed with beta 9. Here is my syslog. syslog-2011-07-16.txt

I copied the current syslog to the /boot as per wikie. However when I try to press sync it just flashes the cursor and is hanging there fore along time. By the way because I'm still copying large amounts of data I don't have a parity drive right now, does that mean it's save to hard power down the server? Now power cycled the unit and it came up normally, but I really dont want to continue to do this. Here is the current syslog. syslog-16072011.zip

I am no unable to shutdown my unRaid server, I used the unmenu user script shutdown server and as soon as I done that I could see on the console some kind of fsraiser error message and even after 8 hours it still has not shutdown. This started to happen after upgrading to beta8d and still happens with beta9. I have to press the power button to shut it down. Any ideas? Via the console I still get the login screen so I can issues commands, just cannot get into the web interace anymore and smb is also not working. Really don't want to press the power button for 5 sec again. syslog-2011-07-15.txt

That was it it's working again! Now I just to figure out why I cold not do a shutdown script but that is another thread. Thanks so much

I only connected 5 drives on my AOC controller and now it boots from USB but I need that 12th drive for parity. So I am in a bind now. Has anybody seen this limitation before with this bios on the P7H55-M LX bios 0405 just upgraded that it can only display 12 drives and it counts the drives from the AOC controller.

It's getting stranger. When I disconnected the AOC-SASLP-MV8 it was showing the unRaid USB under HDDs and was able to put it as boot device but with SaS AOC-SASLP-MV8 controller and 6 drives it only shows 12 drives and not the USB stick so back to beginning. At least I know that USB works on motherboard but don't know how to fix this issue now. So maybe the bios can only address 12 drives and the usb is one too many.

Called Asus support they seem to think it might be a faulty motherboard how annoying as that means it's out of action for a while

Just used the CMOS reset however it still will not boot from USB now I'm out of ideas

So I have now moved the USB stick to the back while it was emulating set to Auto and Forced FDD both with same result only flashing cursor. Will removing of CMOS battery maybe help? Will I need to replace motherboard?

that stopped after about 3 hours yesterday, now it's just a question of knowing if the motherboard suddenly had a problem or not. Which is extremely annoying...

Only the USB keyboard which is required for selecting the boot device, otherwise nothing is connected on USB

The unraid USB stick is on the motherboard via a USB header, the DOS USB key is being used on the front panel. I so far have not yet tested the back USB ports, will try that tonight.

The usb stick definately is getting power otherwise it would not be shown in the boot menu selection, however somehow it cannot boot from it, which is extremely strange an annoying. So hopefully someone else has this board and ideas for me

The USB boot stick works on another pc without issues so it must be motherboard/bios related

The only thing is why would the dos boot USB stick which worked earlier have the same symptom suddenly

12 drive licensed with 5 beta 8d

Just replaced the 3 files nothing else

I have upgraded the usb key to unRaid 5 Beta 8d however in the boot menu it's showing the usb key as it always has done. I selected Removable Dev as primary boot device and also pressed F8 to select the USB, however I only ever get the Flashing cursor when I do that. Same when I selected by Dos boot USB key also only flashing cursor. Extremely annoying. Already must have booted 40 times with the same results.

It looks slightly different. I used the USB Mass Storage Configuration, Emulation Type (AUTO) Fored FDD but it did not work either way.

My board has suddenly stopped from booking from USB. It worked fine yesterday and today I had to upgrade the firmware of one of my Samsung drive, so I plugged a different USB in, and it worked fine. Then I put the unRaid usb back in and now it will not boot. I either get a flashing cursor, or please insert a proper boot device. I already set all to defaults, I tried USB setting to AUTO, HDD, CDROM and FORCED FDD all did not work. I am at my witts end. Any suggestions. I have now rebooted several times. The USB is in the boot menu list, however it will not load unRaid. I also tried the usb key I used for the Samsung drive and that suddenly no longer works. Please help
