  1. Thanks for the link. I'll check out the guide and YT video around hardlinks and atomic moves. I don't actually think it's a deluge problem. Something fundamental is going on in unraid from 10.6.x onwards. I noticed odd behaviour the instant i updated to 10.6.3 and then a bunch of plugin updates made things worse. Whatever is going on is affecting the file structure and i was getting drive errors that went away by 'regressing' to 6.9.2. I updated the myservers plugin yesterday and it sent me in to a whole heap of pain again (even on 6.9.2) with yet more random crashing. I deleted that plugin and i've now been operating many torrents on delugevpn, re-encoding with handbrake (x264>x265), multiple files merged with mkvtoolnix and lots of media accessing (across multiple disks) all at the same time with zero hiccups or disk errors for the last 24hrs. I think it's either a fundamentally broken 3rd-party package or it's a backwards-compatibility problem which could be caused by a change/implementation of functionality.
  2. There are a few points in there. The instructions in this very thread where the user is asking a specific question don't need to work for every version...just the task at hand. It is muddying the waters to try to give a generic answer to a hypothetical situation while the user who has a problem to solve still hasn't solved it and is looking for targeted help. If you had wanted to point out that the specific info given doesn't work in all cases and that's all you should have said...maybe even given a link to the unraid manual section to be helpful. I agree many people will find this thread from google and many people will still not know what to do from 'just copy the *bz files' if they've never had to do it before or it's not been more roundly demonstrated/explained. A lot of this sort of stuff is scary to people. 'Simple' is a relative term. It may have a specific dictionary definition(s) but it still means different things to different people in a given situation and this is predominantly down to experience first and education second. Your level of both is very likely to be higher than the majority of the people you service on this forum (relating to unraid) and that's why 'simpler instructions' may not actually be simpler to the majority of people who come here for help. For a path to resolution your instructions may have had less words but they certainly weren't simpler from a less experienced users' point of view. If that's who is doing the execution their POV is all that matters. I'll see your 'simple' and raise you with 'cryptic'.
  3. No, just no. Specific, targeted instructions are always safer and more useful to less skilled or less confident users than the generic, catch-all ones. The post from SimonF was an actual answer to the OP's question (read the thread title) and all others are alluding to an answer but not actually giving it. The SimonF post included the changes.txt file (which is in the unraid manual) where just copying the *bz files doesn't. Had the OP asked about downgrades in general then the 'unzip all bz* files to the flash drive.' would have been closer to an answer but even then open to more questions and a less concise 'path to resolution'.
  4. We're on completely different hardware so there isn't a commonality there. I'm an AMD 3800X on an Asrock X370 Professional Gaming with an AMD HD6450 GPU installed for troubleshooting (PCIe x1...really handy). I have an evaluation machine running an AMD 4650G on Mint and my experience with that is awful and i thought the same thing had happened here...every few kernel updates give me problems and eventually no boot. The linux community knows and accepts this with a shrug of the shoulders. I thought this might be the case here but it's clearly not AMD-specific. Doesn't stop it being a different 3rd-party package I have delugevpn running all the time but i don't know if it's the cause or a symptom. What i do know is that with the same hardware and config instability appeared after upgrade to 6.10.3 then got worse after a bunch of plugin updates (that coincided with 6.11.rc3 being released) and then when i updated to 6.11.rc3 it all went completely haywire.
  5. It's less difficult than you might think and fear of the unknown amplifies anxiety on things you've never done before. I found a thread on here where one of the posters giving information had gone to the trouble of attaching images of what to copy from the unraid install file and paste (overwrite) to your existing unraid flash....i'll see if i can find it. When i can't trust the stability of my unraid box i do any amending of files on the flash drive after a clean shutdown and the flash physically plugged in to my desktop...it may appear irrational as it can be done via unraid but it feels safer to me and i've done it many times this way and been fine (hopefully not just jinxed myself).
  6. This is how i felt too due to there being no threads/posts demonstrating the same issues. I could immediately tell when i moved to 6.10.3 that something wasn't right but no amount of hardware checks or diagnostics pointed to something being amiss so i just soldiered on.
  7. If you have to work it out then it doesn't fit the category of 'instruction'. Some people's method of working it out is to ask where the download link is and they get referred to threads here as well as 'googling'. I make my living as an interface between Developers and Users (Agile Product Owner)...i know what constitutes good instructions and the great 'tell' for this is how many follow-up questions the 'instructions' cause. Whether someone ends up 'googling' or asking on this forum where to download is a follow-up question. Without the link included, the instructions are incomplete.
  8. @ OP, i've had to do this too. 6.10.3 'felt' unstable to me from the get-go but i could not prove anything was wrong. While don't use plex i was getting various problems on firefox, delugevpn and handbrake dockers alongside disk data corruption. Against my usual, better, judgement of only installing stable releases i jumped on 6.11.rc3 which took the instability to a whole new level. Of course by this point the only roll-back option was 6.10.3 which is what i had tried to get away from. The instructions linked above are correct but are missing where you get the install files from...you can find them here: https://unraid.net/download
  9. Glad you got in eventually. I've never been presented with the 'change default password' option, ever. Can you point me to the thread you think is similar to what i experienced, please? I'll go and read/contribute if it's relevant.
  10. I just had this. I've been using this container perfectly for at least a couple of years on the same machine. The gui password not working in my windows browser seemed to be existant with all my live torrents disappearing from deluge. Preferences stayed set perfectly. I've rolled back 6.11.rc3 through 6.10.3 to 6.92. 6.11.rc3 went badly from the upgrade reboot and was completely unstable, 6.10.3 i was never fully convinced of stability but it had some good features so i ran with it. I think both of these releases have been corrupting my install (6.11.rc3 was immediate, 6.10. was slowly) with 6.11.rc3 straight away changing all sorts of settings that i had to work out and change/redo. The first thing that went haywire was my firefox docker. Then last night my machine had what i can only describe as a stroke...didn't shut down or become unresponsive but a drive went offline, cache pool became unmountable, handbrake killed itself and lost it's to-do list and deluge restarted but then i couldn't log-in to it with the recurring password entry field. I manually rolled back to 6.9.2 (as it was the last version i was happy with the stability) and my cache pool appeared fine as if nothing had happened....multiple reboots and power-downs didn't do this on 6.10.3. Oddly, the password field worked in the docker gui from my firefox docker (but not my desktop browser) and my torrent list is gone. The firefox docker could still activate magnet links so i just hit the first torrent i found and once i had a torrent in the list the desktop browser could also log in to the gui....weird. I need to now look at getting my torrent list back...something likely got corrupted in appdata during the 'stroke' that caused the cache to drop out. I've tested all my hardware (memtest was run overnight after the 6.11.rc3 mess) and it's all looking good. I'm not experienced enough with software to figure out what's going on but my gut-feel is that 6.10-onwards has something underlying wrong...most likely one of the 3rd-party packages.
  11. I got this problem too, caused by the upgrade. Initially my box wouldn't come back after the upgrade. I hard reset it and it came up but wouldn't connect via gui over lan and none of my shares were visible despite the box showing up in file explorer on windows. While troubleshooting my box just kept crashing (6.11.rc3). I ran memtest over night to rule out RAM and i got no issues. I reseated my CPU with fresh paste just to be sure. Still crashing. Wouldn't complete booting in either safe-mode (with or without gui). I manually reverted to 6.10.3 and crashing went away but still no lan access of gui and shares. Some dockers working, some not. I did a bit of searching and historic threads suggested lan sharing issues with windows machines are caused by samba settings. I had a look and all my samba settings had been changed to 'no' except for the macOS which was now 'yes'. I changed these back and i could see my shares again. These were clearly nerfed during the upgrade process. Gui was still not accessible. I run with an ssl plugin on my browser so i then tried the gui IP as plain old http and the gui came up. I wasn't getting the usual message of 'there is no secure site available' but it was working. I deleted the files from the certs folder in the config/ssl and now i get the correct browser message for trying to connect via http. There are still other bits broken (such as my firefox docker starting up and shutting down almost immediately) that i'm still trying to figure out so for me the 6.11.rc3 'upgrade' has been an absolute nightmare.
  12. Not sure if this is the correct place to add some general thanks but i think it's the most general place to express my gratitude specifically. The latest builds including the various GPU drivers have me chuffed and appreciative. I use an old Powercolor HD3540 GPU for local admin of my unraid box that I'm extremely reluctant to get rid of as it's a rare PCIe*1 GPU which leaves all my other PCIe slots open for the usual high-bandwidth stuff. I've been struggling along with the resolution of the HD3450 for around a couple of years now since a release (can't remember which) removed driver support for older AMD cards. I've seen other threads with users lamenting the same position so i know it wasn't just me. Now that the 6.9 series has come round the ability to choose a driver sees me with the HD3450 working at a usable resolution after selecting the 'Radeon' driver. This long-term dull ache of a problem finally going away is great. Messing with network configurations will no longer be a visual chore. Thanks to all who contributed to this fine piece of work.
  13. I can confirm this behaviour of getting a white blank screen when trying to install a container (binhex-delugevpn). I have been using Community Applications, didn't have any other dockers installed (although i do seem to have some folders hanging about from Dockers i've removed) and i got the issue on both rc4 and rc5. The problem manifested for me when i clicked the apply button on the 'Add Container' page when i had modified the template. I tried other random dockers just incase and it was all dockers affected. 'Downgrading' to 6.5 stable allows me to install dockers normally again. Happy to try to help figure it out but i am a newbie so you'll need to point me to instructions for logs etc so you get what you want/need from me.
