  1. I have an APC UPS connected to my unRAID server. I have it configured to shut down my server properly, and it works, but I cannot figure out how to have it shut down my Ubuntu VMs before the server shuts down? I had a power outage this morning and I lost data on one of my VMs because it didn't shutdown properly, but unRAID did. I'm not very strong with Linux, so if there is a guide I can follow, that would be great. I've tried searching, but I haven't found anything that has been helpful. Thanks for your help, all!
  2. Thanks remotevisitor. I'm sorry, I guess I should have stated, I've done that a number of times, but it keeps turning back to orange and then showing the error on the right side of the OS when I log in. Is there any way to make sure that once I've acknowledged the error, it remains that way unless it increases?
  3. A while back one of my drives that is in a disk shelf threw a UDMA CRC ERROR COUNT of 1. It has stayed at 1 for a couple of months, so I'm not worried about it, but now every time I log into the server I have error messages about it. I was wondering if there is any way to just acknowledge the error and have UNRaid stop throwing it unless it changes? I've attached a copy of my diagnostics in case that is of any help. Thanks, everyone. epcot-diagnostics-20210616-2257.zip
  4. Thanks for taking a look, johnnie.black. I don't have a spare disk on hand, I can order one and have it here in a couple days if I need to, but I was hoping to avoid the expense. I just ordered a hot swap bay to install in my server so I can move my parity drives into the server itself (out of the NetApp shelf), and I was going to see if doing this made any difference (as the drive in question is one of my parity drives). I'll try the hot swap cage first and see if that seems to fix the issue, if not, then I'll grab another drive and replace it, but like I said, I was hoping to avoid that if possible. I'll let you know what I find.
  5. A few months ago I purchased a NetApp DS4246 disk shelf for my unraid server. Everything has been working great with it with the exception that one of my parity drives keeps becoming disabled and I have to do a rebuild on the full array about twice a month (which I know is NOT GOOD). The drive shows no errors when running an extended SMART test, and I have tried moving it to different locations in the disk shelf, even swapping it into the location of another drive, but I'm still seeing the same drive become disabled repeatedly. The drive is only about 6 months old, but I'm not sure if maybe it is bad in some way that isn't showing up on SMART. I have attached my diagnostics file in hopes that someone smarter than me may be able to shed some light on what is happening. I'm holding off on starting the next rebuild to see if you guys have any idea how to fix this. Thanks for any help you can give! epcot-diagnostics-20200128-1107.zip
  6. I restarted the system, started the array in Maintenance Mode as @itimpi recommended and checked each drive. I didn't find any errors on any of the drives, so I stopped the array and restarted it normally. After this, I re-ran the Fix Common Problems scan and it did not detect an error with the log again, so it looks like everything is fine. Thanks for your help, @BRiT and @itimpi!! Updating title to "Solved."
  7. OK, so all of my drives are housed in a NetApp Disk Shelf and I'm guessing my disk shelf either rebooted or went offline briefly on Sep 6th while I was on vacation. I do have notifications set up, but I wasn't near a computer for a week, so I didn't see them. When I got back, I saw all the errors, but the array was up and running and the server seemed to be working fine. So I just stopped and restarted the array, which seemed to fix all the errors, but I guess that didn't clear the log. I'll try restarting and see if that helps. Thanks guys!!
  8. In the Fix Common Problems plugin I'm getting the following error: /var/log is getting full (currently 100 % used) Either your server has an extremely long uptime, or your syslog could be potentially being spammed with error messages. A reboot of your server will at least temporarily solve this problem, but ideally you should seek assistance in the forums and post your diagnostics. I'm not sure what this means, or how to look at the logs. so I was hoping someone here could give me a hand. I have posted a copy of the diagnostics below. Thanks for any help you can give!! epcot-diagnostics-20190915-2320.zip
  9. There is nothing for me to acknowledge, all the options when I click on the SMART status button for that drive take me to the disk's settings page, but there is nothing to acknowledge, as it says that the last SMART test completed without error.
  10. Awesome, @pwm, thanks for the response! Now, being a total n00b...how do I do that?
  11. I recently accidentally deleted deleted the drive unRAID was installed on, so I ended up having to recover my server from backup, which ll seemed to have gone well except that now I keep getting failed array health reports. It is saying that Disk 3 "disk has read errors" but when I run a SMART extended self test, the drive passes. It has a Reallocated Sector Count of 3, but this has been the same for months, and being so small, it doesn't concern me. I have attached a copy of both my diagnostics file and the SMART report from this drive, I was hoping someone who understands how to read these could take a look and let me know why I'm suddenly getting repeated failed array health reports. Thanks for your help, all!! epcot-diagnostics-20180801-0922.zip epcot-smart-20180801-0933.zip
  12. @johnnie.black, got you, thanks a million, you have no idea ho much the help means to me!!!
  13. Thanks, @johnnie.black, just one question before I do this, on the New Config page, under "Retain current configuration" do I select "None", "All", "Parity slots", "Data slots", or "Cache slots"?
  14. Sometimes we just don't know as much as we think we do... I was trying to delete some files from a share and used the command "rm -r /" and deleted everything on my flash drive (at least it caused unRAID to crash, not boot back up and when I pulled the flash drive and put it in my Windows machine, it didn't show anything on the drive). I didn't think it would be a big deal, I just loaded a copy of my flash drive I had saved (unfortunately the last one I have on my Windows machine is from January). It booted fine, but I have changed 5 of the 15 disks since this copy of the flash drive was made, so now I can't start my array. I know I used the CA Backup / Restore Appdata plugin to backup my AppData folder, and I've taken backups of the flash drive, but they are saved on my array. I'm not sure how to proceed. Should I pull the flash drive, flash it with a clean install of unRAID? I'm just not sure where to go from here and I'm freaking out! Any help you guys can give would be much appreciated!! EDIT: I do have a screenshot of my drive assignments that was done just after my last drive update, so I do know where all the drives belong, just don't know how to get the server to start with them there since it is freaking out about 5 drives (including one of the parity drives) changing.
  15. I had an unclean shutdown a couple of days ago and the system automatically started a parity check when it was booted back up. That check stated that if "found" (not fixed) one error. Because of this, I decided to run another Parity Check, and it too stated "found" 1 error. I have started a 3rd check, this time making sure the checkbox to correct errors was checked (as I think it was checked on the last one, but I'm not sure), however, in the mean time, I was hoping someone could look at my diagnostics file (generated just before I started the 3rd parity check) and see if there are any issues? I'm sorry, I don't know how to read them or what I should be looking for. Thanks for any help you all can give!! epcot-diagnostics-20180717-1145.zip
  16. Hey, gfjardim, this is the second time I've seen you post something similar to this, and I keep getting Post-Read failures, no matter what drive I try to clear, so I'm wondering if this is still an issue and if there is an ETA on when we will see a fix?
  17. Strike, thanks for the suggestions. I signed into the system via ssh and tried running the "poweroff" command, but it didn't do anything. I have attached a copy of the diagnostics file as you recommend, hopefully someone can take a look at that and give me some insight into what is going on, as I have no idea what most of the stuff in there means. Thanks for your suggestions. epcot-diagnostics-20180608-1947.zip
  18. I am currently running unRAID version 6.4.0 and my server has been up for only 9 days since my last reboot. I cannot access any of my dockers, my Dashbord, and when I hit either Shutdown or Restart on the Main page, the server doesn't respond. I can still access most of my other tabs (Main, Settings, Plugins, VMs, Stats, and Tools), but I cannot access the Dashboard, Docker, or Apps tabs. I don't want to have to do a hard shutdown, but I need to take the server offline for some hardware maintenance, but as neither the Shutdown or Reboot buttons on the Main page are working, I'm not sure how to safely shut down the system. Any help you can provide would be much appreciated.
  19. Ah, good call! OK, so I'll pull it from the array and just leave it as an unassigned device. Thanks for bringing up that wonderful point! EDIT: Johnnie, I just wanted to thank you again, I've now run through the process of removing the drive from the array and shrinking it, now my parity rebuild is running and seems to be doing well. I thank you for all your help and insight, you have been AWESOME!!
  20. Johnnie, you have been amazingly helpful! Thank you a ton, this is exactly what I was looking for!!! EDIT: Actually one more question for you...Let's say I want to keep the drive in the array for now to store temp data that I'm not worried about losing (as it is still passing SMART, but is starting to have a large number of Current Pending Sectors). I want to move all the data from my shares off of it, exclude it from all the shares, then set up a share that is just that drive. I'm moving the data off the drive now and on to an external drive (so it is preserved either way I go), but can I just go into all my shares and exclude the drive, even though they were originally deployed with all drives included? I guess the overall question is, how does unRAID handle it if you decide, after a share has been created and used, to exclude a drive that has previously been used in the share? Thanks again!!
  21. I have a drive in my server that is on its way out. Smart is starting to show an increasing number of errors, so I know it is only a matter of time. I'm going to start moving the data off the drive this weekend with Krusader, and start excluding the drive from all of my shares. What I wanted to know is if there is any way to permanently remove a drive from an unRAID array? I don't have the money at this point to replace the drive, and I don't want it showing as a missing drive and risking parity loss if another drive dies, so I wanted to just reduce my array size from 15 disks to 14; is this possible? I've tried looking around and I can't seem to find anything about this, everything I see just talks about replacing a drive that is going bad. Thanks for any help or advice you can give!
  22. Awesome, thanks, Johnnie, I'll take a look at that!
  23. Johnnie, do you know of a guide on how to upgrade from one version of unRAID to another? I'm new to unRAID (I've only been using it for a few months) and I'm not sure how to go about doing an upgrade. Any help you could give would be awesome. Thanks!
  24. Thanks, pwm, this is good to know; I was afraid I was burning up the drives with the constand full drive reads. The server is mainly for backing up data, a backup Plex server for when my main one goes down, and for encoding video, so it doesn't usually get hit too hard for other things during the parity checks. Thanks, johnnie, that's kind of what I'm thinking, too. I'm going to need to start looking into 6.4, as I haven't looked at it at all.
