I just restarted it again and it came up as Unassigned Device.

parity check frozen
Oh, and I didn't disconnect the drive. When I powered it back up it was showing as an historical drive.

I'll try that, thanks.

parity check frozen
I have a copy of the flash drive that is a month or so old. Would it do any good to switch that out and see what happens. It's from a while before everything went weird. I just wonder if the flash got corrupted...

parity check frozen
No, that's why I would like to run a complete SMART test before tossing it.

unfortunately the server is a headless beast and I don't have easy access to the BIOS.

parity check frozen
Here it is and the parity drive is not connected. I would like to be able to run SMART tests on it. Is there a way to do that? tower-diagnostics-20260107-1604.zip

parity check frozen
I know this is getting overwhelming, but I just added Aura (Identity protection) and I wonder if that is blocking connections?

parity check frozen
Oh, and I just saw that I can no longer connect to the server using my file explorer. It says connection refused. Yet I can use the browser to see what is happening. I also looked at the "preferences.xls" file and it is empty.

parity check frozen
How long do I let it sit with no change in the read/write data?
-
parity check frozen
I have a parity check that is frozen after 19 hrs, at the read check portion. It has been sitting for 4 (or so) hours doing nothing. What can I do? I am on unraid 6.12.6 thanks tower-diagnostics-20260107-1329.zip

moving array disks to use as cache pool
Damn!, So NOT the done... That makes sense, I think.
-
moving array disks to use as cache pool
OK, so I followed the steps as enumerated, until step 5 Start the array, but do not check the "Parity is valid" box. ---there was no checkbox to check for anything. and the system still shows the drive as "disk is missing. contents emulated." which is what I was hoping to avoid, since the drive was empty. Am I missing one obvious step?

moving array disks to use as cache pool
unRiad 6.12.6 Hello- I currently have 2 (two) empty disks in my array that I would like to remove from the array and use as a cache pool. Is this possible? Is there a reference article that I should look into? I tried to remove the disks from the array and it showed them as :missing" and "emulated". (I put them back) How do I cleanly remove them? Thanks-

Upgrading (migrating) my server
Thanks for the help. I also read in one of the posts that there may be an issue because I will be going from an intel based system to an AMD based system. Have you heard anything about that?

Upgrading (migrating) my server
And I should be able to just switch the thumbdrive from the old computer to the new?

Upgrading (migrating) my server
I now my server is a older HP Prolient and I would like to take the thumbdrive and all the HDD's and switch them into a newer case with all newer hardware. Is this something doable? and what are some of the questions I should be investigating? Are there any guides out there? I really would like not to lose any of my files and have to rebuild from scratch. Thanks for any help- Rob

unRiad issues
Well, I bit the bullet and started the "new config" and disk 5 is showing "unmountable ; unsupported partition layout" Is there a way to save it? Also, is there a way to generate a repot of the video files that are left after all this?

unRiad issues
There is no disk 6. The entry is a leftover from a disk that no longer exists. How to remove it from that array?
-
unRiad issues
OK, disk 5 is now showing, and disk 6 is non-existant. That's one of the issues I ran into, the non existing disk is stopping the array, but I do not know how to remove it from the array. I could do a "new config" but that would reset parity right? and I was hoping to rebuild disk 5. Is that out of the question now?

unRiad issues
I've just had a drive fail and I've been trying to replace it and had run into a string of issues I've not had with previous drive replacements. Here's what happened. ! - one of my drives failed mid-use, so I shut down and got another (larger) drive to replace it. 2- I put the drive in as "unassigned" and tried to pre-clear it, but the pre-clear plugin was no longer in my unraid. So, I stopped, re-downloaded it and set the device to pre-clear. 3- For some reason, there was no longer any timer showing how much had been pre-cleared, or showing haw much longer the device would take until completion. 4- After about a day and a half, the operation was no longer showing as ongoing (ie, there were no writes being made to the disk). 5- When I then tried to assign the disk to replace the failed disk, the unraid shut down, showing the error of "Too many wrong and/or missing disks!" showing the both the new and the old disks as "invalid" The computer shows the new disk and having 1 Smart error, even though when I run a Smart test. it passes with 0 errors. 6- I have tried as many ways as I know of to add the new disk, but keep getting the error. Please point me in the direction of the logs needed to help determine the issues and I will send them Help would be greatly appreciated. (I tried to export a log, but it only had entries for today, not from when the issue started.

Does the linux version used in unRaid (in my case Slackware 15.0) need to be periodically updated?
