  1. @stv29 have you had any success with this? im curious to know if there is a cd burning app out there, but as of right now more than likely would just take my internal CD/DVD drive out to make room for one more HDD and stick with USB CD/DVD in my Windows VM as needed.
  2. @johnnie.black if a driver problem, is there a way to update the driver that unRAID uses?
  3. @johnnie.black sorry it took so long, finally got around to it. attached the diagnostics. interestingly enough, it also seems like after i remove the card and boot up, i still don't have network access. it isn't until i reboot again a second time after the Intel NIC card was removed that it finally starts working again the way it was. unserver-diagnostics-20180424-1552.zip
  4. i took the card out to get the server back up. will try again tomorrow and grab diagnostics while installed.
  5. I have a 4 x 1 Gig ethernet card, BCM5709. Does anyone know if it is support? When I boot up with this plugged in, my onboard NIC isn't active. In System Devices I see that unRAID recognizes the Broadcom Limited NetXtreme II Gig Ethernet, but under network settings I don't see any new ports available. If I power down, remove card, it boots up fine with onboard Eth working properly.
  6. did upgrade to 6.5.1-rc3, things have been pretty stable, although i haven't been messing with containers or changing things around much recently. everything came up fine after the hard reset. i did cross my fingers and toes until then. community apps plugin also working great again. thanks!
  7. Should be able to still go into docker tab, add new container and manually select from a repository that has that container in it.
  8. i was having the same issue, thought maybe it was unraid version as upgrading from 6.4.1 to 6.5 was a little squirrley for me. tried upgrading to 6.5.1-rc3 and reinstalling CA but no luck. legacy mode did work for me. will the fix for normal usage be posted once it happens?
  9. I have a recently new build, started on 6.4.1 and upgraded yesterday to 6.5.0. Everything seemed to be going fine...I had just installed the UpStatsBoard docker just to check it out, but then removed it. I went to my CA Cleanup plugin and it just spun and spun and wouldnt do anything. I noticed the same thing when going into Community Apps and Docker. Nothing came up at all, so I figured I'd try stopping the array and rebooting. Powered down my VMs, hit stop array and it was just stuck at "stopping array". I was able to SSH in and found some posts about looking for open tasks, so I ran the commands and killed some tasks. Nothing seemed to work. Finally ran the powerdown command and my physical server is still up, I can ping my IP and still have the SSH session, but can no longer access the GUI. At this point, is my only option really to hard shut down and power back on? What can I do to troubleshoot/avoid this again?
  10. just figured out, had to do with shares that had "manual: do not split directories" set on the share. once i changed that the total size changed right away.
  11. how do you create the share directory? is that something you should need to do manually? i wouldn't think so because some shares that have NO data in them currently show the proper usage. one share, when i tell it to use ONLY the new disk, i get an error message copying a file over that there is no available space. but if i copy to the disk share it works just fine. so it seems like unRAID has arbitrarily given access to the new disk for SOME shares but not all. the only other thing i can think of is maybe removing the disk from the array and re-adding? like it is some kind of bug or something.
  12. Full reboot didn't fix it. Tried deleting and re-adding one share. Still comes back with only 1 disk available instead of 2. Does adding a new disk require a new parity check before all will work correctly?
  13. I added a new 2 TB disk to my array. It formatted and came in just fine, but somehow only certain user shares that I have created can use the new disks. All shares are set to use all disks by default, but some show the new available space +2 TB and some don't. I've tried stopping/restarting the array itself. Anything else I should do? Do I need a full reboot?
  14. actually...seems like i got it working with the sabnzbdvpn container using the "other" option for VPN with mullvad vpn. appears to be working ok so far!
  15. Has anyone successfully used the openvpn client plugin to connect to mullvad vpn?
  16. @SSD @tdallen just to make sure i'm on the right path here, if i can get the GPU passthrough to work for a Windows VM, i "should" be able to hook a monitor up direct to my physical unRAID box and run the VM direct from there? no need for RDP or VNC at that point, correct?
  17. @unRaide I'm also attempting this as well. If anyone has had success with Coffee Lake processors, drop a line in here.
  18. thanks @manfat ... very helpful, that is my plan, i currently have an older PC with a mish-mash of stand alone disks that i want to get better control of. when i get my new build, i'll be able to use the 1 TB ssd for cache and 2 hdds for the array to start so that i can build a windows VM and test everything out a bit. i'm assuming all will go well and if so, i'll just start migrating data over to the array and adding disks once they are available. for "auto launching" the windows VM, is there just some way to have a VNC client auto connect when the server powers on as well?
  19. awesome, thanks for the help!! i guess the only other thing i can't quite wrap my head around is pass-through video to a VM. can you use onboard video for that if you are just looking for basic display settings on the VM? i wont be using the VM for any kind of gaming or GPU intensive stuff. i saw the requirements saying that onboard is NOT supported for a hybrid VM, but wasn't sure if that was only in the case of trying to pass through a gpu solely for use on that VM?
  20. I'm looking at the ASRock Z370M Pro4 LGA 1151 (300 Series) MB right now, do you know if this works ok with just the onboard video for pass-through to a Windows VM?
  21. @trurl so unRAID is capable of using one drive for cache as well as running VMs direct off the same drive? does it just basically allocate the size of any VMs you have and dedicate that space on the drive, then use whatever is left over for cache?
  22. If I don't use the 128 GB disk at all, then is a 1 TB SSD as my cache drive not really an effective use of that disk? If I have 128 GB cache and use the 1 TB SSD as unassigned like @tdallen mentioned, then would I be able to create VMs to run off the 1 TB SSD and use the 128 GB as the cache disk?
  23. i have a work laptop and some other tablets i could use, so this won't be my ONLY machine available. in this instance, what would be the optimal disk configuration? i believe i would need my HDD disks set as array devices and would both SSD disks need to be cache devices? i may be wrong, but i thought i saw in the docs that a SSD disk cant be an array device? i'm just wondering if having one 128 GB SSD and a 1 TB SSD set both as cache devices would somehow not get the full utilization out of the 1 TB SSD. or if somehow i can set my VMs to all run on an SSD disk versus the HDD devices.
  24. agreed, and i'm not at all opposed to tinkering a bit. im just wondering though, with a pass-though to a VM, when i boot my machine can i set it to auto launch that VM so that i get the same experience as if i just powered on a windows desktop? or will i basically boot to some unRAID console and have to hop to the VM from there? i was planning on a completely new build, but i guess i could always keep my 8 year old desktop and wipe/reload win 10 to have just as a local jump box if need be.
  25. I'm looking to build a new machine, already have 3 x 2 TB HDD, a 128 GB SSD and acquired a 1 TB SSD. Will probably pick up another 2+ TB HDD as well. I'm a fairly basic user although in my job I work a lot with virtualization / storage. I was just going to build a new Windows box with lots of storage, but have considered unRAID for a singular box. I still want to be able to run Windows and utilize SSD for that, but also want a good amount of space for music/photos/videos, etc. Also interested in running some Docker apps rather than installing local to Windows OS. Would I be able to do that with unRAID by putting the Win OS on the 1 TB SSD (passthrough?) and using the rest with unRAID? Is there enough good reason to do something like this and still get good use out of all the storage I have?
