Just checking it was the same one, i have had this card a while now and i'm adding my experiences for future searches. This works perfectly with Unraid with no noticeable bottleneck. I installed it over the supermicro and other 8 port cards because if your like me and you only have 1 x8 pcie this will let you use get the full use out of your pro licence without a new mobo (22 data, 1 parity and 1 cache Unraid version 4.7) Granted, it does run a bit warmer than the other cards BUT if you have 2 supermicros then the temp of the 2 cards is more significant than just one 16i and the temps can be controlled if you plan out the airflow in your case.. One pointer, get the correct breakout cables.

I have a red ball. Never had one before and now i am panicking. When I log into tower:8080 it says "disk_dsbl" I have stopped the array and powered it down to be on the safe side. What the hell do i do? I have attatched a smart report of the disk. Smart_Report.txt

Is there anyway to make a list of files that are in a share? I want to get a list of every movie in the movie share and short of manually writing 2000+ file named out in a txt file I don't know how to do it... Any one got a solution they care to share?

I have 2 IR (infrared remote control) to WOL devices that I am wanting to sell. I bought these last year to wake my media server and Unraid box and they worked a treat but due to a change in my home control system I no longer need them (my remote is WOL capable). You can teach the device to respond to any IR command via the setup software meaning it can be used with ANY remote control. Each has an internal IR receiver but also have 2 3.5mm ports, 1 for an external IR emitter and 1 for an external IR receiver so the device can be place out of the way. I am based in the Leeds in the UK but willing to ship world wide but obviously there will be additional postage costs. Each includes the IR-WOL device, an international PSU, all documents and software and a cat 5e patch lead. Im not desperate to get rid of them but I thought rather than them sitting in a drawer someone might as well get some use out of them. Both are mint condition and cost me £170+p&p. Im looking for £99 plus p&p

Hi chaps. Would it be possible to use an mcubed fan controller (see http://www.kustompcs.co.uk/acatalog/Automated_Fan_Controllers.html ) with Unraid. I'm wanting to make the fans go faster when the HDD temps go up and slow down when they get cooler, possibly using the smart data. Has anybody done this? I did a search and did get a result but I wasn't sure what the outcome was.

I was given 2 brand new hitatchi 7k3000 hard drives last week. I precleared them successfully, replaced my 1.5TB parity with one of the new 2TB drives. Ran a parity sync. Precleared the old 1.5TB parity and added it and the other 2TB to the array. And all way good. Yesterday I got home and the parity was blue. And asking me to do a parity sync. Does this sound normal? I'm not sure because this is the first time I have added drives. The rest were put in during the initial build.

Does a port multiplier show multiple drives as individual drives or does it show multiple drives as one big drive?

Thanks for the reply raj. My setup uses the s3 to do other things than just sleep the unraid. I've used the process in my home cinema automation process. My remote pings the unraid and depending on the response does various tasks. So maintaining the s3 would be the best outcome without having to reprogram my remote/home automation system. I might just buy one of the supermicro cards and see what happens worst outcome it goes back and I build a second box.

So after 4 weeks and reading literally hundreds of posts i just can't find an answer. Is there an 8 port card that will work with s3???

I suppose I could have it on all the time. It's just it would be running when we're not even at home (especially annoying when I'm working away). Is there a way to turn the system off at say 2am unless HTPC is on and use the mobo's timed power on function to turn it on at say 8am? Does anybody know of a card (8 port or more) that lets you use s3?

A mix of convenience, cost cutting and integration with my home control systems but mainly it's for the speed of coming online.

It has 6 on board sata ports so adding the 16i to the 8x PCIe would give me 24 ports. I have looked at the SASLP-MV8 but doesn't it have problems coming out of s3? I really need the S3 function to be fully working.

Whats the difference between a hba, raid card and port multiplier?

I'm thinking about building a second unraid box having just about filled my first box. I have seen that you can get HBA card with 16 ports for drives to run on one x8 PCIe slot meaning i could get 24 ports, including mobo ports, from just one additional card. But what is a HBA card?
