  2. hello guys, something weird appears on my system: what seems strange to me is that i have in unraid system 2 /download file shares... obviously i only want 1 ! used for couch; sonaar, headphones... => check file -1.JPG enclosed I'm able to see within unraid interface those 2 File shares as hosting different files/directories, files -2 and -3 enclosed but mapping one and the other "download" directory within windows client through SMB only get me to the same. (enclosed file SMB-4) krusader view is also enclosed: file -5.jpg Can this config (i don't know where it comes from...) lead to issues? For now, some files are correctly downloading in the folder i can't map in windows client... don't know if it is linked with out of memory errors i'm getting? any advises?
  3. hello guys, i'm having this issue - enclosed diag file. any advises? thx tower-diagnostics-20180522-1830.zip

  5. Hello everyone, using 6.2.4 version 2 Cache disks (velociraptor) in a pool Having kernel issue (check error log enclosed) Memtest being executed several times a few hours each without errors being logged I wanted to copy more amount of data (around 325Gb) to array than cash disk actually allows (150Gb) Issue: Data is stuck on cache without being moved on destination drives. furthermore from time to time, unraid is freezing and i need to power off server. some quick questions: what is the link with kernel issue ? what does this kernel error involves? and last but not least how to solve it? attached syslogs and diagnostics Please help Thk you. 6. hi all i have the same config since summer 2011 without any issues: same motherboard, xeon e3-1245 (waiting for ivy bridge to decrease power consumption) , 8Go ECC ram, 11 Harddrives put in it with 5in3 backplanes. 5 VMs, one is unraid 5b14, one is WHS2011 (for local PCs backup), 1 Win7, 1winXP, 1 win2k8r2, case is lian li PC-A77. (allowing for 25HD) I boot on plop ESXi 5 is on usb drive. I run with Adaptec 51245 raid card. I saw you have other raid card: LSI ones? Can you spindown drives connected to it? How do they work, cause i don't think they are in VMware HCL ?
  7. hello johnm, test done with physical access to drives => issue is the same as with VT-d in the VM like you thought: no drive temps and spinup-down continuously. so it is an Unraid 5B14 OR an adaptec+Asus issue but not an ESXi issue I saw that most of you on the thread are using IBM BR10i. Is there a reason for that ? I suppose i should test my conf with one of these cards, right?
  8. yes i'm using VT-d - works well apart from this spinup-down-temp issue
  9. thanks for your advise johnm of testing without VM layer. will do that fyi i had these issues when in v5b12 Do you think my adaptec card and asus mobo would be able to provide me with Temp/spindown? Should i need to configure in Vsphere client my disk controller in a specific way (LSI or paravirtualized?), cause i've let it configured by default at setup?
  10. Don't know if i'm in the right area to post... is there any support thread for virtualisation in this forum? Nevertheless i continue on my topic, hoping some help. Find enclosed the result of smartctl -a -A /dev/sdc command Seems that it's hopeless to have correct behaviour for my unraid array? Is this an unraid version (software issue) or hardware? (i'm in V5b14) Pierre
  11. To complete to my previous post: when i configure spinup/spindown delay (to 15 mn or 1hour...) in unraid interface, unraid tries to continuoulsy spinup/spindown my disks, every second... 12. hi, I need some more help regarding real/unreal issues i have with my unraid vm config on ESXi Here is my HW conf: asus P8BWS (C206 chipset) mobo with xeon e3-1245 proc adaptec 51245 raid card a bunch of 1To and 2 To sata harddrives in backplanes ... My SW conf is following: ESXi 5.0 with plop key for startup and Unraid key in trial conf harddrives are direct-attached through VT-d passthrough My unraid is version 5 beta14 here is the issues: - no drive temp: is there a way to have it "captured" from a SMART command ? - from time to time, either parity or one of the 2 other drives appear in red. I can change the drive and re-use it, so it doesn't seem to be a "real" problem with the drive - disks make some noise from time to time (like it were broken but i doubt that most of them are) - don't know if i can benefit from disk spin down ? Can you tell me if these issues are coming from with unraid V5beta14 trial version or if they come from a configuration issue on my side or from a bad hardware choice (adaptec card - C206 chipset) and furthermore how to solve them? You'll find enclosed printscreens of what i have with my system log. Note that i can use Unraid for my data storage without any pb for a few weeks, but i need to be sure that what i'm seeing in Unraid configuration interface is ok or not? Thanks in advance for your replies Pierre unraid-issues.zip
  13. hello all i have migrated from UNRAID beta 12a to UNRAID beta 14 on my ESXi 5.0. I've followed wiki's path. I have free UNRAID license: 1 parity disk, 2 data disks. Configuration is "Stopped. Configuration valid." I didn't put my array online after migration because: Problem is disk 1 appears with errors but aligned. Disk 2 appears without errors but unaligned. You'll find enclosed syslog. Any ideas? syslog.txt
