  1. These are the HDMI dummy plugs I use. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0746HLHKM/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 All I had to do was just plug them in. Then I used splashtop, vnc, jump desktop, no machine, etc, to connect to vm and set video resolution. The things just work and I haven't had any issues using a gtx645 and a gtx1050ti. I've used the vm's as steam hosts for steam links and Nvidia gamestream to shield tv's. I'm shocked how well it all works.
  2. It was roughly 50 hours each on the preclear hooked up to a lsi SAS9211-8I. Pretty sure the drive/controller is the bottleneck.
  3. I did not have the 3.3v issue on the 10's I got, but I put them in a istar BPU-350SATA. Drives are scary fast compared to my old 3tb 7200rpm Seagate's.
  4. Here is how I have the cage turned in the z420. And here is the space on the backside, turning the drives the way I did put the spacer on the motherboard side which helped a lot. Hope this helps.
  5. I have a iStarUSA BPU-350SATA-BPL in mine. I rotated the 5.25 bays to have the drive trays horizontal. It clears the mobs fine. It was still a tight fit and I had to "trim" on the long hp screws so they wouldn't interfere with the trays. I'll try to take a picture later if you'd like.
  6. Best Buy has their Black Friday deals going. WD - Easystore 10TB External USB 3.0 Hard Drive with 32GB Easystore USB Flash Drive Model:WDBCKA0100HBK-NE32 https://www.bestbuy.com/site/wd-easystore-10tb-external-usb-3-0-hard-drive-with-32gb-easystore-usb-flash-drive-black/6290669.p?skuId=6290669 I had been waiting on the 8's but the 10's will work at this price.
  7. I confirm the 1.5b version now works great on High Sierra. Thanks guys!
  8. That resolved the issue on windows, but I do not see an updated version for Mac yet. The link goes to the 1.5 version, not 1.5b like windows. For giggles I went ahead and downloaded it again and tried, same issue.
  9. I've tried the new 1.5 USB creator on 2 different Macs, both High Sierra, and it will not list USB devices. I've tried multiple flash drives from 4gb to 32gb. I also tried my windows 10 pc, and it comes up with the pictured dll error. I was able to download the beta originally posted from this thread and create a usb drive on the same Mac that would not list usb devices. Please let me know if I can do any more testing.
  10. You could try using the Unassigned Devices plugin to mount the smb path to a local path then use the local path in your emby docker. I do this for a different docker i'm using. One thing to note is that you need to restart the docker engine to get it to see the new path. As for adding unraid to ad, i gave up on that in the v5 releases, it rarely ever worked. It was solid in v4 though.

    virt-manager

this got it working for me on the windows side. I've yet to try the setup on the unraid server side due to needing a reboot.
  12. I got these last year on a whim, nothing fancy but they work. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FZSQNEO/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  13. I am in the same situation as you Jim. In my research, i came across this article about how to setup multiple bridges for multiple vlans for KVM. http://blog.davidvassallo.me/2012/05/05/kvm-brctl-in-linux-bringing-vlans-to-the-guests/ I have not got a chance to try it on my test server, but it is on my todo list. In theory if it works you can just pick what bridge(vlan) you want to use like we do now with vswitches. The key will be making sure it survives a reboot, which will probably require some GO file modifications. Hope this helps.
  14. Just upgraded, had one small odd issue. I have a single non ssd disk as a cache drive formatted as xfs. After the upgrade it reset my cache disk slots from 1 to 4 and set default format of cache to btrfs. That resulted in it wanting to format my cache drive. I stopped the array, changed cache disk slots back to 1, and set cache format to xfs, then the array started and my cache drive was fine. Hope this helps anyone else that encounters the same issue.
  15. Make sure your guest is set to Ubuntu, other wise the 2 usb drive trick won't work.
  16. The forum has been slow for me as well. I just disabled avatars, and wow, the speed difference is very noticeable.
  17. OK I think I may have made some sense of this. This is what I’ve observed and cannot speak to other configurations. First off system setup: Hardware Mobo: X8SIA-f CPU: Xeon X3460 Mem: 16GB ddr3 (4x4GB) Controller: LSI 1068E (BR10I passed through) Flash drive: Lexar Media JD FireFly 2GB Cache: Samsung 840 256 GB Parity: Seagate Barracuda Green 2TB Data: Seagate Barracuda LP 2TB Software: ESXi 6.0 Unraid 6.01 plopkexec.iso Story: I just recently went from bare metal to ESXI on my backup server. It didn't take long to run across this issue. I read this thread and got to thinking it might be a usb flash drive issue. So I stood up a test vm and loaded a few flash drives of different vendors. I thought i had found a magical make/model to resolve the issue. Then the issue started showing up in the logs again. I got to backtracking my configuration changes since the time of the error started showing up and i realized something. The period that the error went away i had another flash drive attached to a windows 7 vm loading unraid on it. The error started when i "ejected" it from the windows 7 vm. Solution: So with that in mind i wiped and formatted a flash drive with nothing on it and a different label than "UNRAID" (as to not confuse unraid) and added it to my unraid vm. Success, the errors went away as soon as it was recognized by unraid. This method uses an available device, but it's a solution that doesn't require passing through a usb controller. I don't know if usb hard drives will "fix" the issue, but I’m going to try it after the preclear I’ve got running finishes. Hope this helps
  18. I can confirm the default logon is observium / observium. I was stumped a bit by the wording myself.
  19. I have a RSV-L4000 and i can tell you it's a pain to rack with the Rosewill rails. I'm using a compaq 9000 series 22u rack, pretty standard. I had to take off the handles to get it to work and it's still not optimal, if i had to buy again i'd look elsewhere. I have several other supermicro cases ranging from 1-4u and have had no issues with them.
  20. That is a rosewill case, i have it. It's the RSV-L4000, http://www.rosewill.com/products/2311/ProductDetail_Overview.htm. There are already holes for the 80mm fans to mount in the back. Also the "fan wall" is cleanly removable with 2 screws on each side.
  21. I've had great luck with the roku boxes and plex. Got 5 of them running now, a roku 3 and 2xs local and a pair of 2 lt's and a old gen 1 running remote at my parents house. It doesn't get any simpler on the client end.
  22. I've got one running just for the photo ios app. A lot easier for my wife to upload photos and rename them using DS Photo and then i copy them over to the protected array. The big issue is that it looks like 4.2 is the last version of DSM that will not be hacked all to hell to run. Synology put in some hardware checks into DSM 4.3, as they should.
  23. i replaced the cpu/mobo with a xeon x3440 and a supermicro x8sia-f to get passthrough to work.
  24. I am in Birmingham,AL. I was using it for an all in one vmware box. I ended up splitting unraid apart from vmware and only needed half as many hot swaps. I ended up putting unraid in one of the rosewill 4u cases with a mix of istar 5/4 hot swap bays for a total of 14 drives. The vmware server i ended up replacing with hyper-v and put into a supermicro CSE-822T-400LPB.
  25. I have one of the original Tams servers that i just replaced and was wondering if there was any interest in the separate components of the chassis, power supplys, hard drive trays, back planes etc. If there is interest i'll part it out otherwise i'm just going to put the whole kit up on craigslist for local pickup, thing is way too dang heavy to ship anywhere.
