Hi forum
At my very last step to my perfect server i stock with the following.
Installed Rclone beta with the very good video from spaceinvaders. Did everything like he has done to mount google drive in the folder /mnt/disks/google-drive. Set the smb extra lines, mount and unmountscripts like in the descreption below the video Now I can see the share "google-drive" in the finder on my macbook. Actually fine so far. But it is unbelievable slow and stocks allways again and again.
I´m not shure it is the right way. Do I have to set something like a sync command in the config or custom script to make shure there is a local copy?
My goal is tho sync two ways from google drive to in a folder in unraid. Share this folder and connct every user/machine to this folder. Tried the half night to figuered out how it works - unfortunately unsuccessful.
thanks for any advice that goes in the right direction.

Some USB enclosures use the same identifier and don't show the actual disk s/n, and repeated identifiers can confuse Unraid (and UD)
hmm... they are exactly the same adapters that's true. What a b...s...

Both are over a USB to SATA adapter pluged in. When I plug in A, then B goes. Then plug in B again, A goes.... and so on. Tried everything.
attached tower diagnostics. thx

Hi
Just pluged in a second usb harddisk want to use as a unassigned device for backing up some shares. Wondering why the allready pluged in device goes away in the overview of the UD's. Is just one allowed? Or do I just a simple thing wrong?

Hi there
I had the same odysee as everyone here. Only problems with timemachine backups. Then I proceeded to the above steps and still had promleme to find the backups. Even after the first run. Now I additionally changed the timemachine shares to public and additionally set the volume dbpath to a directory on the cache disk. /Mnt/cache/apple-data The system has wrote some folders and files in there right now.
Now it seems to be working right. It is really boring this timemachine issue.

Parity isn't a backup of any of your data. It simply allows the data for a missing disk to be calculated from parity PLUS ALL the other disks. This is why I asked about the health of your small disks. ALL disks must be healthy for parity to work as designed.
Here is a wiki about how parity works:
https://wiki.unraid.net/UnRAID_6/Overview#Parity-Protected_Array
In addition to parity you need to have a backup plan for any important and irreplaceable data.
Thanks for that. I read it allready yesterday. I just wasn't shure about the order of the disk. But now I think it works for me a while. I just have data about 1 TB at the moment.
And yes I know, parity is NOT A BACKUP. For backup I have other solutions. Unraid is just the datapool and virtualization server for some things. And dockers works realy like a charm in unRaid
thx, bye

ok. then i stay at the moment with the one I have... as soon as I need more space, I change the parity 2 to Disk 3.
thx for helping a newbie

Almost, total usable on the last option would be 5TB
ok. but no rendundancy of the parity disk?

This is smaller than disk1
Ok thats the way...
Then there are two orders with this 4 disks:
parity 1 = 3TB
parity 2 = 3TB
disk 1 = 1TB
disk 2 = 1TB
Total for use = 2TB
or this:
parity 1 = 3TB
parity 2 = no
disk 1 = 3TB
disk 2 = 1TB
disk 3 = 1TB
Total for use = 3TB
is it right?

Parity disks can't be smaller than any data disk.
no parity disk is smaller than the data disks. They are exactly the same size, brand etc...
but you think this order would not be ok?
-
sorry "constructor", just saw that's the state of your membership..... but sounds good anyway
thx for input.
What are you thinking about this order?
parity 1 = 3TB
parity 2 = 1TB
disk 1 = 3TB
disk 1 = 1 TB

hi Construcor
thx for answering.
Ok, if I do so... One of the 3TB parity disk change to data disk, how to do? Just take out, delete and add to the array?

Hi all
I'm from Switzerland and turned over from Synology to unRaid on HP gen8.
Everything works fine. Just asking me about the order of my plates. I got 2 x 3TB as parity and 2 x 1TB for array. One SSD cache plate with 128 GB is also in use. This arragement gives me 3 TB. Are there other orders for better performance or space known.
Thx.
