  1. So.......

    I upgraded to 6.8.0-rc9 to test it out. I have a MSI Tomahawk B450Max motherboard and it seems that the NIC isn't picking up DHCP. It autoconfigures to 169.254.142.227.

    Furthermore, the connectivity light on my switch is off for the port it's plugged into. Basically it seems the driver(s) for the NIC are not loading.

    How can I either fix this or revert back to the older version?

    /edit

    The LAN chipset is:

    Realtek® 8111H Gigabit LAN controller

    Thanks!

  2. Just wanted to say that Tom from Support was GREAT!!  Problem solved and now my array is fully functional.  It's just clearing the drives as we speak!

    Turns out the issue was on their backend.  I had a key which was replaced with a new USB Key and the serial wasn't transferred over to the new UUID.

    All is well now and balance has been restored to the universe :)

    Bravo UNRAID team.

    I'm in the same boat right now. not getting emails from unraid for a replacement key I just requested. Also ordered a second key because I'm impatient and the second key is not being emailed. Wonder if it has anything to do with gmail having issues right now: https://downdetector.com/status/gmail

    Yeah that whole Google Compute Engine being down could be a cause.  Sucks that it HAD to happen at the exact time I was buying the upgrade key ;)

    Did you get an email from Limetech?    If so it should have the URL to download your new key in the text of the message.

    The only e-mail I got was a thank you for the purchase e-mail.  It should have been followed by another e-mail with the key.  Just like when I purchased basic.  So 1 email came through but 2nd is AWOL :)

    It's not super critical but it would be nice if I got it some time today.

    I know this question has been asked before, but I'm not sure I ever saw an updated answer around it (if it exists).  I occasionally have the need to check on my unRaid server via the menu.  I know others have mentioned that you could just setup VPN to do this, but I'm not terribly familiar with how to do this and it seems like quite a bit to just access the menu.  It would be nice to have something similar to what the DD-WRT routers have, that is, a simple ID and Password to access your router.

    I recently upgraded to the latest version of unRaid and I'm wondering whether any advancements have been made in this space or if VPN is still the only option.  Any information is appreciated.

    PS - I did try to search to try and find an answer to this, but didn't have much luck.  Thanks.

    Try ZeroTier.

    I use it exclusively and it's absolutely fantastic.  The only "downside" is that all computers in the ZeroTier network have to have the client installed.  Not a biggie.

    Assuming you did it via the normal web page then it is automatic and you should get a response email within minutes.     If you tried to do It via email then humans get involved.

    I did it via the normal web page.  I checked out via Paypal as I usually do and got the confirmation e-mail for payment.  But no key in sight :(

    Did you check the email registered with limetech? Sometimes their emails end up in the spam folder for some reason.

    Yes, you should have a new key file to put in the config folder on the flash drive.

    Until you get that sorted, you could always temporarily unplug the new drives that put you over the limit.

    Pulling the drives out would be a massive pain in the ass!

    I have a rackmount server case that is super hard to get into and "remove"  Just adding the 3 drives took me an hour.  I'm not going to waste time unplugging drives just to re-plug them in again.

    Just a quick question.  Is the key generated by a "human"?  Or is it automatically system generated?  If it's human created then will they issue keys on a Sunday?

  8. So my adventures with UNRAID have been extremely fruitful and I'm now convinced that this is the right solution for me.  So I've been adding drives to my UNRAID setup.

    I just finished adding 3 more drives (2x4TB WD RED and 1x Intel 660P nVME SSD for cache).  So as expected, the array wouldn't start because it said I now have 7 drives and I should upgrade my key.  So off I go and I paid to upgrade my key from BASIC to PLUS.

    My question is that my UNRAID setup doesn't seem to pick up the upgrade.  Maybe I should receive a new key?  Maybe I'm doing something wrong?  As it stands my array is not powered on and I need access to my data :)

    Thanks for the tips people!

    When you boot up in the new case it will still have the same disks in the slot you originally assigned them. If you're asking does it matter where in the case they are its up to you.

    If you do reassigned the slots in the webgui you will have issues.

    Well, what I mean is that:

    Let's say that

    SDA = SATA PORT 1

    SDB = SATA PORT 2

    SDC = SATA PORT 3

    SDD = SATA PORT 4

    After migrating to the new case, what if my config is:

    SDA = SATA PORT 3

    SDB = SATA PORT 2

    SDC = SATA PORT 4

    SDD = SATA PORT 1

    Will UNRAID automagically figure it out or will I have to go back to the console and make sure that the drive order/allocation is identical?

    Thanks!

  10. I have a makeshift Unraid Server right now that has the following:

    Deepcool Case (Mid Tower)

    Athlon 200GE

    Gigabyte B450M DS3H

    16GB RAM

    4 HDD's in total with 1 Parity drive.

    I have 3 more drives waiting to be added to the array however the case doesn't have any space in it.  So I went ahead and bought a Rosewill RSV-L4000 - 4U Rackmount Server Case.  The case will be delivered today and I plan to move all my parts from the Deepcool case to the Rosewill case.

    My question is that in the event I change the "order" of the drives in the array, will that cause any issues?  The Rosewill case will have a Vantec Hotswap Drive cage (4 Drives) that I will use, so I want to make sure that the downtime is as minimal as possible.

    Thanks for the help!

    It will help a lot if not read write in same time happen at any disk. But this won't final solve the transfer in sine pattern.

    The tunable helped quite a bit!  In fact it's now what I expected the transfer to look like.

    Thank you @Benson

    First, reconstruct write turn on ?

    It was set to "AUTO".  I checked the WIKI and adjusted it to "RECONSTRUCT WRITE".  I'll reboot the server and report back on if there is any performance increase or not.

    Thanks for the tip!
