Preclear.sh results - Questions about your results? Post them here.
Cant see any error messages referring to the memory. I did however include the syslog if I dont look at it right. It indicates that either the preclear_disk.sh is corrupted, OR, you have programs missing on your server it is expecting to use. You should have none of the "command not found" or "syntax error" messages. did you open the preclear_disk.sh script in an editor? (possibly accidentally add carriage returns to the ends of the lines?) Another possibility is you ran out of memory for all you were running. Look in your syslog for out-of-memory (oom) errors. Unless you used the -r -w and -b options of the preclear script, three simultaneous preclears of large drives will likely run out of memory. syslog.txt

From what I know I only downloaded the script from the forum post and put it on my unRAID flash. So I should cancel the other 2 preclears and try with a new script then maybe... I´m a bit of a noob when it comes to unRAID and thought I would ask what my pre-clear means. So far I´m only done with my planned cache disk and got 2x 4tb drives in the process as well. preclear_start: Last login: Mon Apr 29 18:18:52 on ttys003 Mac-mini:~ Niklas$ /Volumes/flash/preclear_reports/preclear_start_\ WD-WXQ1EB1JSLAM_2013-04-30 ; exit; /Volumes/flash/preclear_reports/preclear_start_ WD-WXQ1EB1JSLAM_2013-04-30: line 1: Disk:: command not found /Volumes/flash/preclear_reports/preclear_start_ WD-WXQ1EB1JSLAM_2013-04-30: line 2: syntax error near unexpected token `(' /Volumes/flash/preclear_reports/preclear_start_ WD-WXQ1EB1JSLAM_2013-04-30: line 2: `smartctl 5.40 2010-10-16 r3189 [i486-slackware-linux-gnu] (local build)' logout [Processen slutförd] preclear_finish: Last login: Tue Apr 30 12:13:56 on ttys003 Mac-mini:~ Niklas$ /Volumes/flash/preclear_reports/preclear_finish_\ WD-WXQ1EB1JSLAM_2013-04-30 ; exit; /Volumes/flash/preclear_reports/preclear_finish_ WD-WXQ1EB1JSLAM_2013-04-30: line 1: Disk:: command not found /Volumes/flash/preclear_reports/preclear_finish_ WD-WXQ1EB1JSLAM_2013-04-30: line 2: syntax error near unexpected token `(' /Volumes/flash/preclear_reports/preclear_finish_ WD-WXQ1EB1JSLAM_2013-04-30: line 2: `smartctl 5.40 2010-10-16 r3189 [i486-slackware-linux-gnu] (local build)' logout [Processen slutförd] preclear_rpt: Last login: Tue Apr 30 12:17:25 on ttys003 Mac-mini:~ Niklas$ /Volumes/flash/preclear_reports/preclear_rpt_\ WD-WXQ1EB1JSLAM_2013-04-30 ; exit; /Volumes/flash/preclear_reports/preclear_rpt_ WD-WXQ1EB1JSLAM_2013-04-30: line 1: ========================================================================1.13: command not found /Volumes/flash/preclear_reports/preclear_rpt_ WD-WXQ1EB1JSLAM_2013-04-30: line 2: ==: command not found /Volumes/flash/preclear_reports/preclear_rpt_ WD-WXQ1EB1JSLAM_2013-04-30: line 3: ==: command not found /Volumes/flash/preclear_reports/preclear_rpt_ WD-WXQ1EB1JSLAM_2013-04-30: line 4: ==: command not found /Volumes/flash/preclear_reports/preclear_rpt_ WD-WXQ1EB1JSLAM_2013-04-30: line 5: ==: command not found /Volumes/flash/preclear_reports/preclear_rpt_ WD-WXQ1EB1JSLAM_2013-04-30: line 6: ==: command not found /Volumes/flash/preclear_reports/preclear_rpt_ WD-WXQ1EB1JSLAM_2013-04-30: line 7: ==: command not found /Volumes/flash/preclear_reports/preclear_rpt_ WD-WXQ1EB1JSLAM_2013-04-30: line 8: ==: command not found /Volumes/flash/preclear_reports/preclear_rpt_ WD-WXQ1EB1JSLAM_2013-04-30: line 10: syntax error near unexpected token `(' /Volumes/flash/preclear_reports/preclear_rpt_ WD-WXQ1EB1JSLAM_2013-04-30: line 10: `== Last Cycle's Zeroing time : 2:49:12 (73 MB/s)' logout [Processen slutförd] When I look at the terminal after the preclear is done I get the following: ========================================================================1.13 == WDC WD7500BPVT-55HXZT3 WD-WXQ1EB1JSLAM == Disk /dev/sdc has been successfully precleared == with a starting sector of 64 ============================================================================ ** Changed attributes in files: /tmp/smart_start_sdc /tmp/smart_finish_sdc ATTRIBUTE NEW_VAL OLD_VAL FAILURE_THRESHOLD STATUS RAW_VALUE Seek_Error_Rate = 100 200 0 ok 0 Temperature_Celsius = 115 119 0 ok 7200 No SMART attributes are FAILING_NOW 0 sectors were pending re-allocation before the start of the preclear. 0 sectors were pending re-allocation after pre-read in cycle 1 of 1. 0 sectors were pending re-allocation after zero of disk in cycle 1 of 1. 0 sectors are pending re-allocation at the end of the preclear, the number of sectors pending re-allocation did not change. 0 sectors had been re-allocated before the start of the preclear. 0 sectors are re-allocated at the end of the preclear, the number of sectors re-allocated did not change. root@Tower:/boot# Is it correct with all these different error messages in the reports since the terminal doesnt mention anything regarding allocation...?

MicroServer N36L/N40L/N54L - 6 Drive Edition
Regarding a 2,5" below the ODD. I know it will fit since I used a 2,5" SSD below 2x3,5" that were placed in the ODD in my previous setup. I was wondering if a "normal" 2,5" HDD with a silicon sleeve (like this: http://www.dealextreme.com/p/anti-shock-silicone-protective-case-with-ventilation-for-2-5-hdd-hard-disk-drives-21326?item=8) would still fit even mith the added thickness of the sleeve. I thought it would be a good idea with a sleeve or some sort of silencing cover if I were to place a non-SSD disk loose in this space. On another note, what is the required settings when using the modded BIOS in unRAID. There seem to be some more options besides enabling the extra SATA ports but maybe thats tweaks if you are planning on running Windows or someting else....

maxse: I used a Nexus Doubletwin in my N36L and it fit perfectly with 2x3,5" On another note. I was wondering if there is room below the ODD space for a 2,5" cachedisc if I put a silicon cover on it? I previously used a small SSD as a cache in this space but I´d like a bit more space and was planning on a 2,5" 1TB and put some sort of silicon sleeve to avoid vibrations, but the question is would it fit?

MicroServer N36L/N40L/N54L - 6 Drive Edition
Got the Nexus Douvletwin to use with 2x3,5" drives. One question; I´ve mounted the 2 drives on the doubletwin, but how should I attach the Doubletwin in the ODD space? I cant seem to find to make if fit and snap onto something. Its like the width in the ODD is a bit to wide... On some pics the drives are mounted with mirrored towards each other. The first one normally but the other one upside down to get more space between the disks. But if I do that, they will not fit as far as I can see..

MicroServer N36L/N40L/N54L - 6 Drive Edition
OK, here i go again. I already got 4 HDD in the "regular" bays as well as a SSD for cache. If i were to add 2 x 3,5" HDD I would need a total of 7 SATA connections. I currently got 6 prepared including the external eSATA to SATA. Would would be a good working expansion card to use for this? /Niklas You might need another set of HDD screws if the Nexus doesn't include any. I've only got 4 left in the door with 4 HDDS in their caddies and 1 in the hot swap bay (which I used the ODD screws to mount in the top bay). Yes there's a space below the ODD bay that you could easily slip an SSD or 2.5" HDD into.

Would i be able to just buy this kit and nothing else to fit 2 x3,5 drives? Is there any room left to have an 2,5" SSD below the Nexus Double Twin? /Niklas Many of us use the Nexus Double Twin to add 2x 3.5" drives:

MicroServer N36L/N40L/N54L - 6 Drive Edition
I´m planning to adda some sort of HDD bay to the 5,25 slot in this machine. I see that many here are using the Icy Box hot-swap but is anyone using the Silverstone FP 55. This is supposed to accomodate 1x3,5" as well as 2x2,5" http://www.silverstonetek.com/product.php?pid=272&area=en Any ideas or comments on this before i order one? /Niklas

Cant seem to be able to read the files Jens posted on how to flash the BIOS. Since I´m a complete noob when it comes to this I´m gonna need all the guides I can get I know there are some guides on FW from early 2011 but I thought Id try and get the latest BIOS from "thebay"... /Niklas
