  1. Unraid uses the root user. There should be no reason for sudo in your commands.
  2. My favorite part of unraid is the simplicity of all of it. It makes managing a lot of data a simple process. In 2020 I’d love to see support for multiple protected arrays.
  3. I've been using unraid since the days of 4.7. I'd love to put a case badge on my machine in my rack.
  4. Looks like in the EULA stops is from being distributed. That being said, would it possible to create a container that you put the file into the appdata folder that you manually download and then the docker container runs it?
  5. What is the difference between this and Plex Requests?
  6. Diagnostics Attachment from a few minutes ago to show my config. vault-diagnostics-20161106-1648.zip
  7. Last night I was watching a video (video file on unraid ->plex on a VM from my esxi box -> smart TV plex app) and my video playback stopped. I checked my plex logs and it said the video was unavailable. I checked unraid and I couldn't login to the web interface. Then I checked SSH and Telnet. Neither were responsive. I walked to my server and my mouse and keyboard were unresponsive as well. It was 100% frozen. I couldn't type to get any logs. I can only give you a picture of what I snapped with my phone of what was on the screen. 8. Originally I messed around with SMBios with various degrees of luck. Some would work and others would cause a kernel panic. I seemed to have the best luck with older versions of the Mac SMBios profiles. At the end of the day I decided I didn't really care if my VM reflected my actual hardware and didn't use any SMBios profiles. If you are going to mess around with SMBios, there is a chameleon / encoch boot command that will ignore SMBios in case you get a kernel panic (this way you can get into the Mac VM and remove the SMBios that causes the panic). I forgot the command though so I would recommend looking that one up. I have never messed with iMessage, what is it saying with the stock profile? I may try it on some intel hardware to see if I can use the mac pro SMBIOS. When you try to login to iMessage it fails, it's similar to logging into the app store with certain hardware configs. The iMessage checks are more strict than the app store checks. My end goals is to a have a machine where I can use a Virtualized fully featured copy of OSX, and a fully featured copy of Win10 both with GPU/USB passthrough. I've got OSX working perfectly in ESXi with GPU/USB passtrhough, and I've also got Win10 working with GPU/USB passtrhough. But if I try to boot both VMs at the same time whichever boots up second never gets video from it's respective GPU. So I'm thinking of trying unraid as host instead. (Specs of that machine = Intel 4930k, Rampage IV Extreme, 32GB ddr3, AMD 280x, AMD 280x, Corsair 1000W psu, 500gb ssd for osx, 500gb ssd for win10).
  9. I feel stupid, thank you. Next question, is there any way to use a custom smbios without a kernel panic? Ideally I'd like to use a custom serial, MLB serial, rom, etc to make iMessage work. I'm assuming it's giving a kernel panic because I'm using an AMD processor which is then being masked to an Intel Core Solo, and when I use the Mac Pro SMBios it freaks out because there was never a mac pro with a sore solo?
  10. No idea what's i'm doing wrong here, but when I try to start up my stuff I get an error that says Cannot access storage file '/mnt/cache/vm_images/default/OSX-10-11.img' (as uid:0, gid:100): No such file or directory From SSH you can see my permissions for these files. 11. I feel like that would be a limitation of xRDP (more than likely) or your RDP client (pretty unlikely). I used the MS rdp client from the app store on 10.10 and it supports two finger scrolling in Windows and Mint. I wonder what kubuntu has going on that prevents it. Now you've got me curious.

  13. I can tell you that this card works perfectly for passthrough. http://www.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=107412 I am passing through the whole card to Win8. (which I also passed through a GPU) I connected up a USB hub to it and I have my USB soundcard, kb, and mouse all going to it without any issues. Only two of the ports seem to work. Also if I disconnect anything from the card itself, I have to reboot the VM before it'll work again. That being said if I use a USB hub, I can unplug and replug anything from the hub without issue so long as I keep the hub plugged in.
  14. He would need to play directly off of the server. The VNC connection would be way too laggy.
  15. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811112339 There is a link for the lazy
  16. I am having the same issues. I have a 4.44 Fedora ISO on my desktop. If I connect to unraid via AFP or SMB it won't copy. It just says the file size is too large.
  17. This board size is called DTX - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DTX_(form_factor) It is basically mITX + one slot.
  18. You will need to use windows to do this, unetbootin won't do it correctly. On my Macbook I used Parallels (you can get the trial for free for 30 days) and I used it to create my unraid flash drive.

  21. Its odd, I thought when I setup my array for my WD EARX drives I precleared them with -a vs -A. So I'd assume it *should be* on 63? I think for some reason it's thinking its on 64?
  22. First I ran: dd if=/dev/sde count=1 bs=1 skip=98368 | od -c -A d | sed 30q Then I ran: echo -ne "\0003" | dd bs=1 count=1 seek=98368 of=/dev/sde Then I ran again: dd if=/dev/sde count=1 bs=1 skip=98368 | od -c -A d | sed 30q After that I stopped the array and restarted it. The drive showed unformatted still. I stopped the array and restarted the computer. I then started the array and still had no luck Then I ran dd if=/dev/md3 count=195 | od -c -A d | sed 30q then echo -ne "\0003" | dd bs=1 count=1 seek=98368 of=/dev/md3 then dd if=/dev/md3 count=195 | od -c -A d | sed 30q ----------------------- So I should only need to run reiserfsck --rebuild-tree /dev/md3 and that's it correct? I am not typing anything else until I hear from you again My impatience is my own undoing at times I swear.
  23. Oh my what a day. I ran the diagnostics. Every drive passed. (good news I guess). I went ahead and found a "config" folder backup from 10/2/12 of my unraid drive. I like to back it up every so often. I removed all unraid plugins from my flash drive, and restored the Super.dat which had the old drive configs. (I am sure this isn't the best way to do it, but it go rid of the redball on MD4 and let my use my original 2TB drive for MD3). Now I that I had a "working config" I was still seeing MD3 as unformatted. This is where I screwed up I think. I ran: dd if=/dev/md3 count=195 | od -c -A d | sed 30q echo -ne "\0003" | dd bs=1 count=1 seek=98368 of=/dev/md3 I think that command might have only been for /sde vs /md3 Now when I run dd if=/dev/md3 count=195 | od -c -A d | sed 30q it looks completely wrong. Screenshots attached. 1st screenshot is before 2nd is the command I ran 3rd screenshot is after
  24. It does not write to the disks (unless told to do so by zeroing it) If they both pass I may run the unraid test SMART test too for piece of mind. I know in the past I have had a WD drive fail and before they would issue an RMA I had to give them the error code which is the only reason I am running the tests using their tools. I will gladly give that a shot. I don't think I can runt hat command on MD3 until MD4 is fixed though. (I guess it will all depend on how these tests come out). This I am aware of. It has always been a noisey drive for a WD Green. Ah yes that. I knew there was another place I was forgetting
