  1. Solved. The Unassigned Devices tab appears with the Array is STARTED, Not Stopped. Gave it a data drive, started array, gave me the option to format and the other drives that were not assigned.
  2. Yes, I think you will find what you are looking after you stop the Array. You will find that button on the "array operation" tab in the Main page. ahhh, nope... this is my current testing setup (recovering a bad crash) 5.06, latest Dynamix, there are 6 unassigned drives spinning..... You are not providing much information to the people who might be able to help. Describe exactly what drives you had in the system and how they were assigned. Example: parity drive, three data drives, cache drive, two unassigned drives. List the sizes of all your drives. Be as specific as possible. Also, what was the nature of your crash and how did you resolve it? I think you might be better served by posting a new thread in the Version 5.X 'General Support' sub-forum detailing your problem. Did that two days ago, the crash is almost resolved (have new key for new flash) .. this is (effectively) a brand new machine, new hardware, getting ready to put my old drives back in and I was shaking the new hardware out, upping to 5.06 in the process and Dynamix. "Describe exactly what drives you had in the system and how they were assigned. Example: parity drive, three data drives, cache drive, two unassigned drives. List the sizes of all your drives. Be as specific as possible." is meaningless in this case, it's 6 freshly preclared, unformatted drives. The point is THE UNASSIGNED DRIVES tab is missing. They show up on the main tab under the drop downs (unassigned), there is no unassigned tab under array operations. BEFORE (pre Dynamix) there was a setting to "show unassigned drives", so back to my original question.... "is there a setting to show unassigned drives?"

  4. Stupid question? is there a setting to show unassigned drives? I see the 'unassigned drives' tab in the screen shots, but I don't get that (and I have a few unassigned drives! [for now])
  5. gave up on the reader aspect for now, snagged a 8gb Cruzer Fit (blowing them out at BestBuy for $6.99, ok a few of them) and new key received, preclearing some extra drives and will attempt reconstruction tomorrow or Wednesday... film at 11....
  6. Thanks all, something weird hit and now the other G2 won't even be recognized (just it got it from Amazon and now suddenly 'out stock and don't know when it comes back', G3 are $50-75??? seriously??? So I ordered a G4, conflicting reports on if it's bootable, will find out tuesday. Good to know I have chance of getting everything back, but would it be feasible to go for V6.0 and be up to date?
  7. I'm hoping so.... Did that (new card, new Mobilelite, new server, everything boots and drives are visible, but my concern is .. the original config is gone. Irretrievable. Pining for the fjords... How can I recreate the config so it won't try to format all the drives over when I assign them to the new server? Don't even know which is the parity drive (yes idiot, I deal with it) Try to fine the 5b16 software? Jump to 5.06? Be totally insane and bring it up under v6 b10? make a fresh clean v6b10 server with a 2-3 new (empty) drives and start copying things over to it? (dedicate the next few weeks for that)
  8. 10 drive 19tb array (that's important), has been running peacefully for about a year on v5b16 (it was working, didn't feel the need to update to 5.06), no issues no problems. Had a drive failure about 2 months ago, no worries, power down, new drive, power up, all good in the world. Three days ago decided to upgrade the last 1tb drive to a 2tb. Overconfidence got the better of me. Precleared a 2tb, disable drive, power down, swap the drive (thank you Norco) pull tray, replace drive, put drive in, power up....... No bootable device. Can't see the USB reader (Kingston MobileLite), either drive in it. Strange. Remember reading that some motherboards get strange with > 10 drives ( 10 2tb + 2 USB now, but was > 10 before 9 2tb + 1tb + 2usb) but I do jiggery pokery and.. nothing. Can't set the boot drive. I have a 15 drive case that I was going to build a v6 server in, had motherboard, mem, drive cages, etc.. had been testing it on v6 betas and was all good... so (shrug), remove the Mobilelite reader w/v5 software/config, move the drives to the new cages, power up. No bootable device. Now I start to worry. Get to bios, no sign of the USB reader. Plug the USB reader in a normal PC, there are the two drives.. but try to select them "Please insert a disk..." Now REALLY worried. Look at the reader, pull the SD card... and there is what I can only call a MELTED HOLE IN THE END OF THE SD CARD (see attached picture) the SD card is unreadable. (used another Mobilelite to test with) after further jiggery pokery the (original) Mobilelite is not even being recognized. so... the config is lost, card not readable no didn't have a printout of the drive assignment (idiot) the reader (which has the usb UUID) is unrecognized so I can't retrieve that. but I have 10 drives full of data that I (hope) is intact, but can't really access. other than shooting myself, any suggestions?
  9. soon as I finish copying the data off, I will. Weird 136 days, not even touched or moved and down it goes. Will report back.
  10. Woke up this morning to find one drive disabled. 11. I have one of these and have 3 Norco SS500 in them. Mounted with ZERO issues. I did replace all the fans with 3pin fans tho, a few splitters and the wiring is much less gnarly. Keep an eye on Amazon, they till pop up there for $65 from time to time, I got mine that way.

STOP MAKING SENSE! actually, no I haven't but I saw many comments about it causing 'issues'... this is a RTL8111E so I was trying to get ahead of things.... but I wanted to get past this before the next thing... I'm unsure how to approach the 5.0 upgrade since I'm using SNAP to mount a non-array drive and the LMS plugin (which I not sure if it's set for 5.0 yet..) however... I'm looking at another m'board... 2x PCI, 2x PCI-E x4/16 and 2x PCI-e x1... and 8 SATA ports more to come.
  13. Just finished trying moving/removing the JMicron card... Moved to the other PCI-e x1 slot, same result Removed totally, same result Either the mboard dosen't like having both the INTEL and Marvell or the Marvell don't like the INTEL (or vice versa) anyone recommend a PCI-E 4 or 8 Port card I can replace the Marvell?
  14. See if you can disable/remove it and if it makes a difference. If the Marvel shows up with drives in unRAID then you have an incompatibility between the JMicron and the Marvell. If it still doesn't work then I don't know what to tell you further. give it a try tonight, thanks.. and I think you mean between the JMicron and the Intel... the Marvell disappears when the Intel gets plugged in, the JMicron is always there
  15. No the JMicron is a simple 2 port SATA that is holding a non-array drive SNAP'ed that I'm using for LMS support (tried to put it on a arrary drive and had problems, the drive never stopped spinning) Biostar has 6 array drives Marvell has 4 JMicron has 1 non-array drive
  16. Well, I'm at a loss. I found the note on how to install lspci for UNRAID, did so.. again this is 5.0-rc12a, not moving up to 5.0 final till I can sort the Realtek issue (and a couple other things) THIS is the output without the INTEL card in, onboard Realtek NIC enabled. root@PINEWOOD:~# lspci -v 00:00.0 Host bridge: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] Unknown device 1705 Subsystem: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] Unknown Like the Marvell Card missing? NOTE: THE MARVELL CARD IS DETECTED DURING STARTUP AND DOES ENUMERATE THE DRIVES. Marvell card using IRQ18 Realtek IRQ44 INTEL Card using IRQ20 ABSOLUTELY NO OTHER CHANGES OTHER THAN DISABLING THE REALTEK AND INSERTING THE INTEL CARD. There are no bios options to twiddle with the IRQs I can find no magic key to get into either the Marvell card or the INTEL card.
  17. No settings I can find, this Biostar board is very bare-bones in the bios.
  18. I'm pretty sure disabled everything on it I wasn't using (serial, parallel, etc) but I'll check when I get home. The INTEL card itself APPEARS (operative word) to be working, ie. I can get to the WebGui and see the drives missing. It may just be a m'board limitation but I'll check those points when I get home.
  19. no it's a small board... 1 x PCI-E x16 2.0 Slot 2 x PCI-E x1 2.0 Slot 1 x PCI Slots the SATA card is in the x16 slot (it's an x4) sounds like I'm screwed until I get a new board
  20. allright have a system running on 5-rc12a Biostar A55MH Motherboard, AMD A4-3300 Onboard NIC Realtek RTL8111E Startech PEXSATA24E SATA card in the (only) PCI-E 16 slot system works perfectly. no errors no glitches, nada However with what I'm reading that 5.0 final has.. issues.. with Realtek NIC's.. decided to drop in a PRO/1000GT PCI card (only 1 PCI slot). so... this is still on RC12a stop array, reboot get to bios setup, disable the onboard nic save, power down install new card power up UNRaid starts, can access the web gui, no issues however.. all 4 drives on the EXSATA24E are GONE. Poof, non-existant. Array doesn't start because of missing drives. I can see the card bios start messages, drives APPEAR to be detected. ok, restart, go to bios, re-enable the onboard nic. power down, pull card start up, system starts, array starts, no errors, perfect. lather, rinse, repeat. same thing, put in INTEL, drives go away, pull INTEL drives come back? Stinky motherboard? Stinky INTEL Card?
  21. pre-clear plugin would be tasty...
