  1. Hello All I am looking to replace my 1 SSD cache disk with one of these (amazon link below) Does anyone run a setup like this? will it work with UNRAID? My plan is to put 2 1TB drives on the adapter and then let UNRAID mirror them for better speed. TIA https://www.amazon.co.uk/ASUS-Hyper-M-2-Card-Socket/dp/B07PCKTL1J/ref=asc_df_B07PCKTL1J/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=231989761408&hvpos=1o2&hvnetw=g&hvrand=4424980282275558637&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1006603&hvtargid=pla-736734030708&psc=1&th=1&psc=1
  2. Hello - Hope this is the correct thred to post in - also hope someone can help. I have setup my sync to work and it does. When I download an item using UTorrent it sync's the files to the local server (UNRAID) but when I go to delete the files from the unraid box it tells me I dont have permission and wont remove them. When I delete them from the UTorrent server they are then removed from the local UNRAID server. What have I got wrong? I though I hadnt applied the correct file rights in the docker, but I cant see anywhere to do this... Attached is a copy of the settings for the docker. Would be nice for files to be deleted on the local UNRAID server to be then deleted on the UTORRENT box. But I cant work out where I have gone wrong.
  3. Thank you for the extra advise - I have 2 x 4TB disks to swap out once the parity check is done and compleated.
  4. Attached the errors to this reply. Copy and past didnt work to well. From the research I have done - I think replacing them is the best option?
  5. Thank you Johnnie Thats fine. It will be a while before its all been used 100% Even tho my drives were find in my Synology NAS - UNRAID is showing errors with 2 drives. So once the Parity Sync is done I will need to swap out those 2 disks which are showing as faulty. Just want to get Plex installed to keep the kids happy
  6. I have just setup my new server (totally new to UNRAID) and assigned my disks. UNRAID is currently doing a Parity Sync - Do I need to wait for this to finish before I can format the drives as they are currently showing under - Unmountable disks present: Or can I go ahead - format them and start using the system and the Parity check will carry on in the background?

    UNRAID & Plex

Thank you Squid - My UNRAID Server is building its disks as I type - I havent used Plex via unraid before so wasnt sure if it was via Docker of a plugin that ran on the system. I will take a look and see if I can find any youtube vidoes on how its setup as the UNRAID system is new to me... Docker isnt tho. Thank you for taking the time to reply.

    UNRAID & Plex

Hello Forum My current Server / NAS setup before my unraid box was a VM Running Plex looking at a share on my NAS. The VM was running on a Hyper V server I have. Now I am moving over to UNRAID I wanted to ask which of the below would be best (been new to UNRAID) 1) VM Running on UNRAID with Plex installed (full windows version) pointing to a share on the UNRAID Server for the Movie & TV Share 2) Plex running as a plugin (I havent seen much of the plugins yet) But I understand plex can be ran as an App on the UNRAID box. What do you think is best? what do you guys run? Thank you
  9. Hello All - I cant find an answer to this and I have searched youtube and the web, so hopefully someone can advise. The Server I am using for my UNRAID box has 10 x 1GB network cards on it. Now I am not planning on using all of them, but does UNRAID have the ability to team say 2, 3, 4 or 5 of them togeather and give the team 1 IP address? TIA
  10. Hi Sota - Thank you for the reply. I could replace the R530 but as its under warentee and has over 400GB RAM I would like to keep it around as long as I can. I have 3 yeard of Dell warentee left. I did look at maybe getting an old NetApp shelf as in the UK I can pick them up for around £150 / £200 but the cable that they use to connect back to the server is stupid money. Been looking at 45 Drives and working out if I can just pop a LSI card in it and connect it back to the Dell Server as a dumb shelf that would do what I need. But I am not sure its possiable. Other option is to get another server with more bays... but they I would have 2 UNRAID servers to manage, but that would be a last resort as it would mean more managment etc.
  11. Hello Forum I have a Dell R530 server which is running as my main UNRaid Server. This has worked great but now I am at the point where all 8 bays are full and I want to add more storage. Rather than buying larger HDD, I want to look at what options I have for a Disk Shelf. I am based in the UK and I am able to add expansion cards into the Dell Server. Are any of you guys using a disk shelf for exara storage? if so what are you using and how? TIA
  12. Thank you Trul The terminology they use - and been new to UNRAID I just wanted to make sure I was correct in my thinking. My Synology NAS had 20 Disks in it when it failed today, each from 4TB in size to 12TB in size. so I want to move these disks over to the new UNRAID box. But I can do without most of them right away as restoring around 75TB of data from the cloud will take a little while. VM's etc I wont be using. I have 3 Dell PE R530's with 300GB RAM in each so they handle all the VM's I run. The Cache will just be for files on the server, I also have a Plex VM running on the Dell kit, so if the cache drive will help that run then great. Thank you for the fast reply!
  13. Hello All I work in I.T but am totally new to UNRaid - My Synology NAS has just given up and I am looking to build my own UNRAID Server. I just have a few questions I would like to get a 100% answer from before I start. 1) Licence Costs - At the moment I am looking to add 12 HDD. Does UNRAID class 1 x HDD as 1 x Attached Storage Device? so for this it would be $89 - I am looking to add 2 SSD's but as this would be an extra $50 (if my above theory is correct) I will do this later once its all up and running and use this for a cache drive. 2) With Synology I am able to add new disks as and when I need more space. I use WD Red drives but depending on how much cash I have at the time I may end up getting a 6TB disk or a 4TB disk so can I add diffrent disk sizes into UNRAID and for it to work like the Synology RAID system and protect my data? Thank you for taking the time to read the post. I hope to become a new member of the UNRAID community.
