  1. I'm a tad lost regarding the OpenVPN Client Docker - where would I have to put the *.ovpn file to? Thanks! 🙂
  2. Is there a way to automatically reconnect the OVPN-Client after it has lost its connection?
  3. I found a solution to my problem! I've added the following line to my .ovpn-file: askpass /boot/openvpn/auth.pass Then I created the auth.pass file besides the .ovpn-file and just added a single line with my OVPN-client password to it. In the plugin, I deactivated the login option, startet the connection and - voila - I successfully connected my unRAID client to my OVPN-Server. 🙂
  4. Hi ljm, thanks for your response! 🙂 The thing is that I don't want to connect the whole two LANs with one another. Baically the Home Unraid server just needs to reach my Remote Unraid server for daily backups, but I also want my Home LAN to reach the "Remote Unraid" server for config and monitoring and stuff, without the Remote LAN having access to my home LAN. At the moment I'm using two Windows 10 Server connected via OpenVPN for this task, and this works exactly is I wish. No need to open any ports at the remote location, and no access of any device at the remote location to my LAN. Sadly, the OpenVPN Clients on Unraid are a huge pain and none of them connect correctly, which is why I thought Wireguard might be my solution here. From what I can see, the closest config for my needs would be "Remote access to LAN", where my Remote Unraid server would be able to see my Home Unraid server as well as my Home LAN. Would just setting up a static route in my home router to the Wireguard network be the solution, or does Wireguard block the routing from other networks into the VPN network in this configuration?
  5. Using "Server to Server acces, is it also possible to reach the WIreguard Client from the network behind the Wireguard Server, having set up a corresponding static route in the router of the LAN?
  6. Hi! Trying to get the Client Plugin to work, I always get the following error: neither stdin nor stderr are a tty device and you have neither a controlling tty nor systemd - can't ask for 'Enter Private Key Password:'. If you used --daemon, you need to use --askpass to make passphrase-protected keys work, and you can not use --auth-nocache. Being new to UnRAID, I have no idea what this means. Connecting to my OpenVPN server from Windows or Android works without problems. Thanks in advance! 🙂
  7. Cheers everyone! I'm in the process of migrating from Windows to UnRAID, and the setup has so for been working quite hassle-free. I'm running UnRAID 6.8.0 with 8 HDDs (7 x 2TB, 1 x 3TB), 2 of them Parity drives, and a 2 SSD Cache Pool. Parity-Sync has been stopped until all the data has been transferred, File-Shares are set to not use Cache at all. Copying files from an external USB 3.0 HDD to the Pool using Unassigned Devies & Krusader is sadly EXTREMELY slow, fluctuating from anywhere between 5 MB/s to a maximum of 45 MB/s. While it took roughly half a day copying all the files from my old Windows 10 Server to the external HDD, it will take several days at this rate to copy my 10 TB of data from the USB HDD back zu the UnRAID server. Clearly, there must be something wrong, but I can't figure out the problem of those slow transfer speeds. I tried using a SMB connection from my desktop, speeds weren't better at all... Hopefully, somebody can enlighten an UnRAID-noob like me! :-) Thanks in advance guys! syslog is attached. syslog.txt
  8. Unassigned Device + Krusader really seems the way to go concerning this matter - thanks a ton! Looking forward to joining the UnRAID family!
  9. Thanks for the input testdasi! I did some more in depth reading about UnRAID and everything that it involves and think that it might really be the right choice for me. Plus, I finally have some new tech to play around with! For the beginning I'm gonna roll with my existing 8 drives, with two parity drives (I'm a bit overcautious regarding failing drives and losing data) resulting in 12 TB of usable space, which already is a huge upgrade to my currently usable 8 TB due to Drivepool mirroring, supported by a 2 x 500 GB SSD cache pool for increased write performance. I will use an external 10 TB USB 3.0 HDD (NTFS formatted) to store all my data while migrating the Server to UnRAID. Is it possible to then directly access the external NTFS HDD via UnRAID and copy over all its contents?
  10. Cheers trurl! The migration process itself would'nt be a problem, since I could get my hands on a 10 TB external drive to copy all my files to and from. I was just wondering if UnRAID per se would be the right choice for my needs...
  11. Cheers everyone! I'm currently running a Fileserver with Windows 10, packing 8 x 2 TB HDDs pooled together using Drivepool with File Duplication for HDD-failure-safety, resulting in 8 out of 16 TB usable disk space. I'm running out of disk space now and will need to add new drives, and while I've still got some spare slots in my case, it's starting to bother me that I am "wasting" half of my disk space on live file safety. Might UnRAID and its (dual)-parity be a proper alternative for me? What I need it to run: Fileserver with SMB-Shares - The first and foremost function of the server to store all sorts of files, videos, pictures and stream movies and music to all devices in the house using Kodi. Jdownloader Crashplan for online file backups FTP Server Teamspeak 3 Server VPN Server Might UnRAID be the alternative for me without MUCH of an hassle of setting it up? Thanks in advance & cheers!
