how do i set eth1 as default?

Featured Replies

i used ifconfig 10.0.0.99 netmask 255.255.255.0 up    and i can access the server web ui using eth1 but on bootup it only beeps once not twice like eth0 does? is this normal or am i missing something else?

I am not sure if I understand correctly but if you have eth1 you will have eth0.

Unraid uses (at least for now) only a single NIC. Disable in the BIOS the primary NIC and upon reboot your eth1 will be detected as eth0 (and you can use it this way).

What motherboard do you have.  I assume it is some Supermicro brand since you are referring to IPMI.

Most Supermicro boards will share the LAN1 connection if a dedicated port for IPMI is not found or you do nto have anything plugged into the dedicated port.  I recently set up a server and the customer had only 1 LAN connection in the room and IPMI shared the connection on eth0 quite happily.

Well it looks like you have some of the "Server" grade Supermicro motherboards. I believe some people have reported that s3 is not available on them because a 'server' board is designed to be up 24/7 and not go to sleep. But if enough people bug the Supermicro support they may decide to release a BIOS with these features....(if this is possible from a hardware point)

motherboard is a supermicro X7SPA=HF it has s3 as a option in the bios......

FYI:  My SuperMicro X7SBE motherboard I use in my SageTV servers (Win7 x64) sleep just fine.

So some of their (SuperMicro) server boards can be put to sleep.  Not sure about the X7SPA-HF however.  Maybe Win7 is doing something special to get my X7SBEs to sleep.  Do you know if your X7SPA-HF sleeps with Windows?

Edit:  I will have to change my statement my X7SBE only has hibernate.  I must have put it into hibernate when I thought it was sleeping because I know it was down no fans, lights, etc...  But not working now and after rereading the manual I see it only has S1 and S4 (Hibernate) support.  Still maybe yours would.
