January 23, 20215 yr One of my 4TB data drives failed while waiting for my two new 10TB drives to arrive. (All drives were 4TB.) No problem. I figured unraid would let me rebuild the failed 4TB drive onto the 10TB drive, then I could replace the 4TB parity with the other 10TB parity... but unraid doesn't seem to like this Idea. Please don't tell me I need to purchase a 4TB drive just to get back up and running before I can install my 10TB drives? Unraid 6.8.3. Edited January 23, 20215 yr by brainbone
January 23, 20215 yr Community Expert No data drive can be larger than the smallest parity drive You can, however, achieve what you want using the Parity Swap procedure that is documented in the online documentation that can be accessed using the 'Manual' link at the bottom of the Unraid GUI.
January 24, 20215 yr Good to know, swap (copy) parity still can perform under disk disable state. Edited January 24, 20215 yr by Vr2Io

That's really what it's for, otherwise you could just upgrade parity the normal way. And since the disk being replaced is no longer assigned it's sort of disabled anyway.
