aim60
I am getting write_io_errs, read_io_errs, and flush_io_errs on one of the devices in my cache pool. The pool is raid1, with enough unused space that I can maintain redundancy without the problem drive. I would like to remove the drive with errors. Please confirm that this is the correct procedure. JorgeB
Cache device dropped offline, this is usually a power/connection problem, but yes that link is correct to remove a device (after it comes back online). Quote Link to comment
aim60
@JorgeB, Isn't it possible to remove the drive from the pool without reconnecting it first (like if it was completely dead)? That way, I wouldn't have to worry about the small possibility of corruption to the few files that aren't cow. Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
Yes, if you stop the array and refresh main that device will likely be unassigned, if yes you just need to start the array again, or stop and power down and physically remove the device, then just start the array. 1 Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
The other way is also not risky if the array is set to not autostart and you unassign that device before array start. 1 Quote Link to comment
