Cartierusm
Ok got the new controller and installed it. Added those two new drives and they install fine. Also moved drive 3 to a different SATA slot. During the auto pre-clear it did have a CRC error on one of the new drives; so I cleared it. It's been formatted and up and running for 3-4 days now. I even stopped the array like last time and then restated it and everything looks perfect. No errors what so ever. I DID not change any of the cables I wanted to see if the card was my problem and that bad SATA port. You said that I was getting intermittent disconnects from drive 3. Here is my log I was wondering if you could look at it and see if there are anymore of those interrupts? Or show me an example of what I should be looking for so I can diagnose my own logs...just like my proctologist does. tower-diagnostics-20210530-1053.zip Quote Link to comment
JorgeB
There are still some ATA errors on disk3, you should replace cables, everything else looks fine so far. Quote Link to comment

Cartierusm
Ok so I switched all the Mini SAS to SATA cables and now I have disk 5 diabled!! So I turned off the server and switched it to a different position and restarted. Still disabled. I turned it off again and switched it to a different level all together that is controlled by the new LSI card and has a mini sas to mini sas and restarted and it's still disabled. Once a drive is disabled do I need to re-enable it before using it again??? How do I do that? Quote Link to comment

Yes, unassign disk, start/stop array, re-assign disk and start array, but only rebuild on top if the emulated disk is mounting and contents look correct. Quote Link to comment
Cartierusm
Ok so there's no way to just re-enable it without rebuilding it? If that's the case then something went wrong, right? It didn't just not find that disk missing? Quote Link to comment
