Bought Intel Pro/1000 GT PCI NIC.

Thank you,

Hi,

I have installed the new Intel NIC gigabit card, and disabled the onboard Atheros in BIOS. How do I pull up and/or configure the new Intel card in unRAID? It is not showing in ifconfig.

Web management interface not working (Server IP address was locked to previous MAC address (Atheros onboard card). Can't see the new Intel NIC Card's MAC address. Ethernet plug green light on, Router green light (Gigabit connected) also on.

What commands should I use at the command prompt after login to server to release/renew ip and/or see the new Intel NIC card?

Thanks,

Ramon

Try another slot or re-seat it. It should just come up. Do you see the intel nic's boot agent message when at first boot?

in the config folder of the flash drive there is a network.cfg file.  Check it to see what is in there, you may need to set DHCP=Yes.

Thanks Jamerson,

I did not see any Intel messages at first boot. Will do as you suggested, and report back.

Thanks,

Ramon

Hi,

Last night I got the Intel Pro/1000 GT NIC working. Thanks to dgaschk, Peter, jamerson and others' comments and tips.

Steps taken:

1).- Reseated Intel PCI card in slot 1.

2.)- rebooted router

3.)-released DHCP leases in router.

4.)-Reserved IP addr for new card's MAC addr

5.)-Rebooted server, and Intel NIC card was recognized

Server Web management and emails are back on. ifconfig shows Intel NIC as eth0. Onboard Atheros is disabled in BIOS.

;D

Thank you!

tonight will attempt file transfers again, and try to get back to original reason for this Topic-Failed copy over the network.

Cheers,

Ramon

Hi,

File transfers have been successful. It was the Atheros NIC and the shares.

Thanks to everyone who patiently provided help and support while I tried to make my new rig work.  This forum is definitely one to be proud of.

Transfer speeds could be better, and I'll work on that soon. As of now transfer over the network is at just 35-38 MB/s, but able to stream a movie while copying 12 HD movies to the server, and my music folder all at the same time, as first test.

Thanks again,

Ramon
