I just did a build with an AeroCool VS-9 case and iStar BPU-350 cage. I liked the case very much, but this was my first attempt at putting a 5-in-3 cage in a mid-tower case, and those drive-tabs for the 5.25" slots are an absolute PITA!

 

I might just go back to my ARK 4U-500 case (and someone is buying the VS-9/iStar combo from me), but just in case I decide to take another run at a build like the AeroCool...can any recommend a mid-tower case...preferably with room for (9) 5.25" slots...that DOESN't have these drive-tabs?

Go luck finding cases like that.  They are there for a reason (support for the DVD drives that are supposed to go in the space) so finding a case that does not have them may prove difficult.

 

To get rid of the tabs a deep c-clamp should flatted them, or a dremel with the cutoff tool should be able to do the job from the outside.

Except your case doesn't list a case! Can you please tell which NZXT case has no tabs.
