Login question

Featured Replies

Hi all, newbie here. :) I'm attempting to set up my first Unraid server tonight and I'm already running into a problem. I installed the latest OS to the USB stick and booted up. I successfully get a login prompt ("Tower login:"). After looking online, I found out the default login is "root" with a blank password. However, when I enter "root" at the login prompt, I get, "root@Tower:~#". It seems to be in a console mode. Anything I enter here just brings up the same line. The only thing that gets me out is when I type "exit", but then it just brings me back to the "Tower login:" again. I'm sure I'm doing something stupid, but I'm not sure what. Help a noob out?  Thx!

More info: I got an IP address starting with 169, which I've read means the server isn't communicating with my router. I'll try troubleshooting from this angle.

FYI, I was finally able to get into the Unraid UI using the unraid gui option on the main menu. Not sure what the problem was earlier, but it appears to be working okay now.

Yes, I did. After connecting to the GUI, I had a 192.168 local address. Seems to be working fine now. Thx for the check-in.
