Hyperion is an opensource Bias or Ambient Lighting implementation which you might know from TV manufacturers. It supports many LED devices and video grabbers.

Installation requires no further adjustments. Just install using the defaults and configure the application using its web interface.

Hi Xenco! Happy to see hyperion has made its way to CA apps, thanks for your contribution this is very exciting. Sadly I'm having some trouble with the container, the web UI isnt loading. Here is the only log entry I see.

Where should I look for more info or logs to try and track down the issue?

Thanks again

Hi Chumba,

I have the same errors in my log, no idea why. The webinterface (and everything else) works regardless.

Have you checked that the ports 8090 (http) and 8092 (https) are available and not in use by any other container?

While setting the docker up I encountered a similar problem. Please try to set network mode to host, apply and restart and after that change back to bridge.

Please let me know if that helped!

I'm getting the same issue.

Nothing in the logs until i try to access the webUI, then i get Error : incorrect HTTP headers line

The ports are all available when checking the docker allocations. I've tried network mode as host and as bridge, same result.

Any ideas?

UPDATE: It appears to have been cookies issue of some sort, when attempting to access the webUI from my phone it works fine.

There is a new version of HyperionNG (2.0.13) - it looks like the container hasn't been updated for a while - how do we go about updating to the latest version (if at all possible)?

Hi @Jimmeh1988,

thanks for pointing that out. I will update the container on the weekend.

How can I pass a USB Grabber to this docker?

Tried adding --device but that didn't work. I can see the device on the terminal but lsusb shows no devices.

  • 1 month later...

I have had a few issues integrating my USB grabber to this Docker container. The correct path for my grabber is /dev/video0 and I have entered this in the config.  I believe there is a permissions issue as Hyperion is not able to find the Video source via it's WebGUI. If I switch the container into Privilege mode the application then works as expected. for security reasons I don't want to have Hyperion running in privilege mode. Is anyone able to help or have experience with this?

Can you provide instructions? Im new to this.

how far have you got?

I got the docker and that's about it. Dont even know if I correctly passed the device and I cant recall the command I used.

on the config of the docker container pass the path /dev/video0 to /dev/video0 of the container. enable Privilege mode and see if your Hyperion WebGUI detects the USB grabber. this is just a test to see if it works. I would advise to disable Privilege mode again after testing.

I dont see a /dev/video0 on the host. Could it be because the grabber is being passed to a VM at the moment? I can see the device via USB bus though.

from what I understand that destination is effectively where the video is routed to. add that path in your container (by typing it, not from the drop down menu) with privilege mode on

Read up a bit more on this and I need to install a plugin for video0 to work. No video drivers I think.

Anyhow, I'll probably wait for the "privileged" bug to be resolved before migrating my VM to docker.

I don’t believe it’s a bug. It’s my inability to get over the permissions setup. That’s why I put a post up so that someone with some knowledge could hopefully lend a helping hand.

I think I know what I have been doing wrong. in the edit screen of the docker container I added /dev/video0 as a 'device' in the 'value' field. I can now get the video stream from the capture card!

Did you install the DVB plugin to get /dev/video0 on the host?

Got it to work.

1. Install DVB drivers plugin

2. Install Hyperion docker and add a new device /dev/video0

I did, yes! Sorry, I should have mentioned that.

Could you update the container to 2.0.14 please?

@dexn The image is now up to date. You can force update via unraid or wait for the community apps to update. 👍
