February 8, 20224 yr Recently swapped out my old motherboard for a Z690 Gigabyte Aorus Elite DDR4 and it refuses to boot period. It can see the usb stick but reports it as "No Bootable Device Found" The Boot error led on the board is also glowing. Been at this a solid week searching forums but unable to find a solution, hoping somebody in the community will be able to assist me with this. TIA.
February 8, 20224 yr Solution Do you have a folder named EFI- at the root of the flashdrive ? If so, rename it EFI (without the trailing -) and try booting again. If that does not fix the problem, try booting some other linux disto to check that it is not a general boot issue.
February 9, 20224 yr Author Many Thanks Folder renamed to EFI and the new board booted successfully. Girlfriend also sends her thanks as she is back in her Plex happy place. Griff
February 13, 20224 yr I had the same issue, so thanks for the solution. Any chance you can fill us in on what the purpose of the EFI folder is and why it needed to be renamed?
February 13, 20224 yr Community Expert It is the folder used by UEFI to boot its was added at a time when legacy boot was more common so was renamed you had to enable uefi in flash maker. I think it shou!d be corrected on flash now for new installs a lot of systems need uefi boot.
