Disk assignment chnaged for share not taking effect

Hi I am trying unRaid for the last week or so. Initially I spread my shares over all 3 disks. now I learned that this is not ideal. So I changed the shares to use specific disks. However the change in the share does not seem to be applied to the system. I changed the TV Show share to only use disk 2 and exclude disk 1. Still according to the system all the data is still on disk 1. How can I move the data?

Why ? That is very dependent on user preference.

I couldn't bother and have everything free to go anywhere it wants.

In any case,

Share settings are only applicable to new data written to the Array.

I would simply use Midnight Commander (mc on the console) to move the data from one disk to the other.

Be careful only to move data disk to disk (or share to share). Do not mix the two.

Thank you for the quick detailed answers. I saw this video from Space Invader One

His arguments seemed to make sense.
