Yes, install and configure apcupsd on your own. also install the equivalent of the "powerdown" script. You do not need to be running unMENU to use apcupsd. Your life is made easier if you use it for the initial installation, but you can do it all yourself (and figure out what and where unRAID needs to have its files changed) to have it all work on your own too. Or, you can peek at the apcupsd package.conf file, as it has all the clues you'll need. Once installed, you do not need unMENU running at all. Joe L.
April 29, 201115 yr Author is there anyone who's done this or can point me to a forum or post that has some more information? And where I can get the files I need?

I do not want to install unmenu at all if I don't have to. Is there a way to get the files without using the unmenu repository?

I'm not sure, but is there a specific reason as to why you don't want to install unMenu? I don't want to add anything else extra to my server that may cause unnecessary problems. A buddy of mine tried out unmenu and had nothing but problems. I'm perfectly happy with the unraid interface the way it is. I just want to add the apc backup shutdown feature.
April 29, 201115 yr You can install unMenu and the install the apcupsd with the unMenu Package manager. Once thats done, you can disable unMenu by commenting it out of your go script. I've never had any problems with unMenu and I believe that all of the Mods on this forum use it without issue. This is the first time I've ever heard of anyone having a problem with unMenu.
April 29, 201115 yr Agreed. unMenu is very easy to use and seems very solid. However, since it's a simple job to choose not to run it, I would recommend using it to set up the apcupsd package (it allows easy control of the various options) and then either never add unMenu to your "go" script, or if you did add it then delete it (or comment it out). A quick reboot and you're set.
May 2, 201115 yr Author ok I installed unMenu and setup the apc backup and now the server shuts down on it's own after being on battery power for 5 minutes. Works like a charm. Thanks for all the help and suggestions.
May 2, 201115 yr You can disable unMenu by commenting the line "/boot/unmenu/uu" out of your go script. Comment by putting a # in front of it, like this "#/boot/unmenu/uu". apcupsd will continue to work and you can get unMenu to start again by removing the #.
